Hi. I’m Madison Simpson and I’d like to tell you a little bit about my goals and expectations for the 2016 North Oconee Flagline. I would like to be captain for the Flagline because I want to be someone that the “rookies” can relate too. When they get discouraged about drill or flag work, I want to be able to encourage them and tell them that I have been in their same position. I want to be someone that they feel like they can come to if they are struggling on a toss or if they are having problems reading their drill charts. I would also like to share my joy and dedication for a guard with the rest of the girls. If they have a captain who loves what they do, they’ll get excited about games and competitions in the same way the captain does. …show more content…
Also, I feel like being captain can increase my confidence when I decide to audition. Some qualities that I possess that would make me a good captain include that I am a caring person, I am very dedicated, I communicate well with others, and I have personal discipline. I can have fun and goof off, but I know when it is time to be serious and time to work. I try to have a positive attitude all the time but when I get discouraged with a certain toss, it is definitely hard to keep a positive attitude. I definitely do try to maintain a positive attitude, but it doesn’t always happen. I also push myself until I know the flag work or drill. I don’t push myself to the point of overexertion, but I do push myself until I feel comfortable with something. I have helped out with our flag line in many ways. When Susan has asked me to do something, I have enthusiastically said yes to whatever the task was. I have also been there for the other
A leader must always lead by example, be self-accountable for his/her professional and personal behavior. Have moral and mental strength to do what is right, with confidence and resolution, even in the face of temptation or adversity. A leader must be committed to its SAILORS, so that its SAILORS will be committed to him/her. In today’s Navy, we must be leaders in
When I found out that I was one of the captains of the Varsity Sideline team, I had a beaming smile and felt satisfied with my achievement. As captain, cheerleaders on the varsity and the JV squads come to me with questions and small issues, and I enjoy the opportunity to help them. I have become even more organized and mature because the coach looks to me for help. Being selected as lead captain has had many rewards, it gave me a boost of confidence and inspired me to campaign for other leadership
With an upcoming drumline of around ten freshmen, eight sophomores, three juniors, and one senior we have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us and to achieve that goal of being the best we need someone to lead us. Our ensemble can become amazing and I have a lot of great goals I hope we accomplish next year but more than anything else our group needs motivation to become the best. And by the end of next year we will have pushed ourselves and we might be bloody and tired at the finish line but we will have made it. That 's what I strive for if I get the position of Drum Captain for the 2016 Pirate Drum Line.
My experience as a firefighter and acting lieutenant have given me the ability to be a good leader. I can analyze situations quickly and work with a group effectively to adopt reasonable courses of action under stress. I have had to maintain discipline fairly and properly. I have the ability to manage emergency scenes as well as managing the day to day activities at the firehouse. I have coached and mentored new firefighters effectively.
Ever since I was little I wanted to be a captain just like my older sister. Back then I thought it was just a cool label, but in my past three years as a TCHS cheerleader I have quickly learned the amount of dedication and hard work this position entails. I qualify for being a captain because I have a good attitude, work well with others, and always put in an effort to work hard.
I am interested in becoming a Team Captain to have an opportunity to lead the Scarlet Ambassador team in a way that is productive as well as a positive experience for all of the employees. In addition, I feel that through my time at the Visitor Center I have had the opportunity to observe and learn from our current team captains and possess the necessary skills required to be a successful captain. Also, I am a leader at heart and enjoy being the one to problem solve and encourage team members.
Finally, leadership is an equally important characteristic I display. As a class officer for the past two years, my job is to guide and encourage the class to participate in projects and events. Even though many were hesitant, I showed leadership and encouraged participation. I also am a possible candidate for an officer position in Student Council. I have been selected for this position based on my strong leadership abilities, such as bringing forth ideas, compromising for projects, and speaking up when others will not.
I’ve demonstrated leadership qualities in various ways throughout my time at high school. During the drafting competition, my group needed some confidence and someone there to help guide them to victory, and I was there to help them. A group works together, but sometimes you need a leader. This leader will help facilitate and get the group to do what they’re supposed to do. I think I helped ease off their nerves and I told them to relax and do how we practiced. This paid off because we placed first place and each of us
An effective leader is confident. I am not afraid to speak to large groups of people and give directions. If I do not understand a task, I will not be afraid to ask for clarification. Additionally, I am a very outgoing person. This will aid me to be an effective leader because I will not be afraid to talk to new people or go out of my way to help a fellow band member who is in need. Another quality which will make me an effective leader is that I am a great listener. I will listen to all directions the first time they are spoken and execute them to the best of my ability. Also, because I am a good listener I will be able to learn things quickly. I take all advice and critiques to heart so I can improve my skills with each time I practice. Because I am able to receive directions the first time I will also be able to help my peers to complete the task as well and will be able to answer other members’ questions. An effective leader is also able to teach others. I have had a lot of experience with teaching others so I know I will be able to teach other marchers how to improve on their skills and become the best marchers they can be. Also because I am very patient, I will be able to work with members who are having a harder time with a certain task without getting angry or frustrated with them. In addition to being patient, I am a role model. An effective leader knows that others are always watching
1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.
One of the biggest accomplishments that I feel I have achieved is being a captain for my soccer team when I was in grade 9 (overseas). Back when I was in Ethiopia, soccer was one of the biggest things we loved growing up. Soccer was the only thing available as a sport in our school, so being a captain of a team was kind of a big deal. My time as a captain taught me a lot of things about what being in a position of power means.
I believe that leadership is an important skill to have, especially when teamwork is involved. Over the many years that I have played, I wanted the team to be really close. I thought that in order to be successful we must all treat each other like we wanted to be treated. The experience of being around the girls and coaches on my team made me feel like they were my second family. I would spend almost the same amount of time around them as I would my own family at home. I am extremely thankful that I have friends on the team and it is an honor for me to be one of their leaders.
If I got granted this amazing opportunity, I would be thrilled. I have time to focus on colorguard and would always be willing to improve the team. I am ready to focus and lead these girls to do amazing things this year. However, I do understand that they are many other girls applying for this spot and that I may not get this. All I want is for the West Central colorguard to do great things in 2014 with or without me as captain.
Picking the second captain is really tough because I am friends with them and know them all personally. I know that they all have a lot of potential and great leadership qualities to be captain. Overall though knowing these ladies for 2-3 years I think that no matter the outcome being apart of the team and being upper class men they will still be proactive within the team and continue to set a good example to the other players.
Being a leader in almost any given situation has been an innate quality that I have possessed for as long as I can remember. I have always found myself nominating myself for leadership positions. My most recent and fulfilling leadership position was in my eleventh and twelfth grade school years when I held the position of Drum Major for Purnell Swett High School’s Marching Rams. Being in this position meant that I had to give up the spotlight of performance, turn my back to the crowd, and lead my fellow band members on and off of the field of competition, high school football games, and community parades. Over the course of these two years, I have learned many defining qualities about myself and have learned how to incorporate these newly learned and innate qualities into my everyday life.
