Being a potential candidate of the National Honor Society is a distinction that I greatly honor. I wish to be a member of the prestigious group for the various benefits to myself, my school, and my community. A member of my family was a former member of the National Honor Society; he has mentioned many positive benefits of being a member and how being a member is beneficial to the community. Due to my exemplary qualities of a National Honor Society member, I am qualified to be part of the chapter. To begin, I exhibit scholarship by maintaining a 4.0 GPA; keeping this distinction is not an easy task. It requires an intense work ethic, solid determination, and an overall desire to stand out. Grades are a key point in measuring scholarship; …show more content…
however, scholarship is also measured in learning. Many teenagers have trouble finding the motivation to travel to school every day. I, however, enjoy going to school. I find pride and accomplishment in being challenged and successfully overcoming that challenge. Part of overcoming a challenge is simply doing your best work. Overcoming a challenge is not as satisfying if you put little effort into it, and I put as much effort as I can into school. Another quality of a National Honor Society Member I possess is service. Service is a valuable component of the community. When help is given without expecting compensation, everyone benefits. Personally, I am greatly satisfied when I cause a smile while helping them. Additionally, I appreciate when others help me purely out of kindness. I have had many experiences with service. I was a volunteer camp counselor from 2013-2015 and I am currently a volunteer swim coach at my local YMCA. Volunteering at these jobs has taught me that more joy can be found in volunteering than being paid to perform a service. I interact with young children in both of these positions; this brings me great happiness. Service to others and the community is something I value greatly. Character is something that I portray in my actions.
Many words can describe my character, but I feel the a prevalent word would be “trustworthy”. I consider it an honor when someone confides in me, and I make it a priority to keep that trust. For example, I was required complete a test one day early due to a planned absence. My teacher trusted me to not reveal the content of the test, and I stuck to that promise. I had many chances to reveal it, but kept my word as a result of my trustworthiness. Finally, leadership is an equally important characteristic I display. As a class officer for the past two years, my job is to guide and encourage the class to participate in projects and events. Even though many were hesitant, I showed leadership and encouraged participation. I also am a possible candidate for an officer position in Student Council. I have been selected for this position based on my strong leadership abilities, such as bringing forth ideas, compromising for projects, and speaking up when others will not. I wish to be a member of the National Honor Society for the benefits for myself, the community, and my school. I have thoroughly demonstrated the defining attributes of an ideal member and will continue to show these qualities if selected to be a
member.

It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of

“Leadership, dreams, scholarships, service, pride and character”, the first words that come to mind when I hear “National Honor Society”. Being chosen for National Honor Society is a great honor, as it has proved that from my childhood till now my hard work has paid off. From the beginning of high school, as a freshman to now a junior, I have always pushed myself to do better, but not better than others, better than myself. I had competition with myself and my past grades, as I emboldened myself to do better than each of my past marking period grades. I heartened myself to get stronger grades, because since the day I found out in freshman year that there was National Honor Society I was determined to get in. The day of my sister’s graduation
The National Honor Society upholds four pillars of excellence that all members attain; scholarship, service, leadership, and character. While these four ideals are present in all members I believe that I withhold these characteristics, as well as numerous others, which qualifies me as an ideal scholar and member of the National Honor Society. These assets are not adequately portrayed in my application, but are equally important to scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

My grades are a priority at school because when it comes down to it that is what I will be judged on, alongside my character and attitude. As a student athlete, I pride myself on being a good role model, not just in my home and school, but also in my community. I have participated in many activities that served
