High School Marching Band Leadership

1. During the time I’ve been in high school I’ve participated in the Hamtramck High School Marching Band both freshman and sophomore years, Physics Olympiad during sophomore year, chess club during freshman year and a drafting competition (the Engineering Society of Detroit, where my group and I won $30,000 scholarship each) during freshman year. Outside of school, I helped out at my local place of worship, the Al-Islah Islamic Center. During the summer, I would volunteer to help the kids improve their reading of our holy book (the Quran). Also the prayer leader (Imam) of the mosque was writing theses instructional Islamic books and he asked me to help him write and edit them. I plan to do more things outside of school and also participate

I’ve demonstrated leadership qualities in various ways throughout my time at high school. During the drafting competition, my group needed some confidence and someone there to help guide them to victory, and I was there to help them. A group works together, but sometimes you need a leader. This leader will help facilitate and get the group to do what they’re supposed to do. I think I helped ease off their nerves and I told them to relax and do how we practiced. This paid off because we placed first place and each of us received $30,000 scholarship to Lawrence Technological University. Also in the classroom when there’s a substitute who doesn’t know what to do, I’d help them give the instructions or I’d tell the class. In classroom groups for projects, I would also facilitate things so everyone would do what there’s supposed to do. I like to share my ideas and thoughts to help everyone and not keep them to

I believe I have many skills and talents that I can contribute to N.H.S. I’m level-headed and cool under pressure so in times of havoc, I’ll be there to calm people down and not go crazy. Also I’m a team player which is very important. Some people like to do things solo, but N.H.S is an organization where you have to work together to help accomplish the goals. Also I’m very hard working and dedicated so I won’t give up. There are people who give up when an obstacle they can’t pass comes their way, however I’ll keep trying until I beat it. Personally I’m good at problem solving, innovative, and versatile. If I know what to do then I'll get the job
