1.) What appeals to you most about being a Team Captain on the Scarlet Ambassador Team? I am interested in becoming a Team Captain to have an opportunity to lead the Scarlet Ambassador team in a way that is productive as well as a positive experience for all of the employees. In addition, I feel that through my time at the Visitor Center I have had the opportunity to observe and learn from our current team captains and possess the necessary skills required to be a successful captain. Also, I am a leader at heart and enjoy being the one to problem solve and encourage team members. 2.) What do you think are the three most important qualities a Team Captain should have? The three most important qualities that a team captain should have are positivity, patience, and the ability to maintain composer in difficult or high stress situations. It is important to be a positive person and enjoy the job because the team captain is the role model for the other employees. If the team captain is not positive how can it be expected from other employees. In addition, patience is an important quality because often times it is the job of the team captain to handle difficult situations with visitors. As a scarlet ambassador, we are the representation of Rutgers and need to keep our composer to best represent our university at all times. Finally, it …show more content…
This is because I am coming from a general place of respect for the people I work with as opposed to letting the position get to my head. The greatest challenge as a team leader will be having an answer for all of the questions that scarlet ambassadors will have, but at the end of the day no one can know the answer to everything and I have to accept that and ask for help from either any of the people in the office or a fellow team
A leader must always lead by example, be self-accountable for his/her professional and personal behavior. Have moral and mental strength to do what is right, with confidence and resolution, even in the face of temptation or adversity. A leader must be committed to its SAILORS, so that its SAILORS will be committed to him/her. In today’s Navy, we must be leaders in
Do you agree with the attributes of a high-performing team as being the most important attributes or are others also important?
When I found out that I was one of the captains of the Varsity Sideline team, I had a beaming smile and felt satisfied with my achievement. As captain, cheerleaders on the varsity and the JV squads come to me with questions and small issues, and I enjoy the opportunity to help them. I have become even more organized and mature because the coach looks to me for help. Being selected as lead captain has had many rewards, it gave me a boost of confidence and inspired me to campaign for other leadership
Though there are many good qualities in a leader, Catherine Meliniotis sums it all up in her article written for Advance Healthcare Network. For example, she discusses how it is always imperative to begin with good communication, continue to request feedback from staff, patients and families, encourage staff to provide their own ideas and suggestions, and ask your staff if you are focusing on the right concerns. Meliniotis also encourages emphasis on interpersonal skills, being adaptable, and showing empathy. In particular, it is essential
These past two years I’ve seen good and bad leaders and both serve as a good reminder at what to do and what not to do. I’ve been lead by people who don 't really care to be in this program and my skills as a player and a team member did not improve. But i 've also been lead by p...
...reams and seek change. In order to be a leader one must be willing to do what they ask of others. Even while I would always be there to provide guidance and help lead the way, I would never ask members to do something I am unwilling to do myself. Whether its picking up trash from the highway, leading groups at a CDE contest, or standing in the freezing cold to ring the Salvation Army bell, I am always willing to serve along my fellow members.
Just a few days prior, the Catalyst Color Guard, the team of which I am currently captain, won the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships. We earned the highest score in the 10-year history of our program after an incredibly successful season. What enabled us to succeed this past season was the leadership. As a junior and first lieutenant, I felt more confident in my own leadership skills and experience, and I was better equipped to serve my team this year. Our improved leadership style and work ethic improved our team as a whole. Our score increased with each

Any captain of a sports team must be committed and dedicated to their team. A captain must ensure that they are present and on time for every practice and game which he or she is intended to be at. Captains have many roles during practices, they are the first one there helping set up drills and organizing the practice. They need to make sure everyone is on the playing area on time and leading the warm-ups. The captain must lead by example by showing that he or she is there to practice or play his or her best and that everyone should give it their all, all the time (Mosher, 1981). They need to show that nothing else matters when that are playing or practicing; everyone’s mind should be strictly focused on the coach if he or she is talking, or the play they are working on, or the game they are in. The captain must be a strong leader and show dedication towards his or her sport.
If I got granted this amazing opportunity, I would be thrilled. I have time to focus on colorguard and would always be willing to improve the team. I am ready to focus and lead these girls to do amazing things this year. However, I do understand that they are many other girls applying for this spot and that I may not get this. All I want is for the West Central colorguard to do great things in 2014 with or without me as captain.
For this I have developed the characteristic of being honest and true to my words, to bring the environment of just and fairness. I gave due respect to all players, so they can trust ne and start thinking for team’s benefits. Essentially, as a coach my motto in this regard was “equal rewards for equal performance.” I gave my team members full confidence to speak-up when they have any kind of issue. In this prospect some of my senior coaches also helped me in becoming a good leader and coach. They provided their complete guidance and support which helped me in a lot in achieve my goal. They also helped in developing right kind of attitude that influenced the behavior of all the athletes. As leaders are individuals who significantly affect the thoughts and behavior of others, not through coercion but rather through persuasion. So by adopting this positive attitude I became successful in resolving all the conflicts in the players. One of the biggest challenge which I had faced being a leader was to select a strong and competent captain because it is very difficult situation when a captain is not a solid player. After giving due attention and by evaluating their performance, I select a solid captain who is also a solid player. Now it’s
The first characteristic, a positive attitude, is important because having the ability and enjoyment of working with other people in a team is a useful skill. A sincere liking and respect for other people is a wonderful asset. Being well liked will certainly help in working in teams or any other social situation. Humor and warmth are effective in order to be a good team member. A follower who focuses on positive thoughts by filtering out negative ones is on the trail of leadership. President Dwight D. Eisenhower often said, “No pessimist ever won a battle.” People who have a positive outlook on both life and specific situations tend to achieve their goals more often. The choice and determination to maintain an event-tempered disposition come what may; hence the ability to smile in the face of adversity and make things a little brighter for everyone.

In order to be a good leader, one must have self-confidence, communication skills, charisma and integrity. These are the fundamental skills that make a good leader. Self-confidence is the attitude that one possesses in which one is not afraid to make decisions based on their ideas. Communication skills allow a leader to convey his or her ideas or thoughts carefully. Charisma is what makes a leader appealing to the public, and integrity is what allows the public to trust and have faith in the leader. Without these skills, a leader would just be mediocre, and not great.
