Why I Chose This Scholarship

I grew up in a big family and a small town. My whole life prior to college, I lived with my four siblings and my parents outside of Convoy, Ohio. Both of my parents have done their very best to provide for our large family financially. Convoy is a small village surrounded by a rural farming community with a K-12 School called Crestview High School. Crestview is the center of the village and where I received all of my primary education. The community takes great pride in the school. With the combination of influence from my parents and community, I understand that in order to be successful in life, I must always work hard. I want to be successful myself so that I may bring back to my community. Although there are many paths to success, I have chosen the path of college and a degree in Mechanical Engineering for my life. This decision is based on my future goals for my life. This is important to me because this prepares me before I receive my first engineering job. Employers want job experience when looking at potential employees. Through multiple co-op jobs throughout college, I will gain essential skills, apply knowledge from the classroom, and gain hands-on experience. Co-ops will also help me find what I am interested in. The field of engineering contains a wide variety of job specialties. I hope that co-ops and real experience will help me to narrow down my search and help me to find my passion.
