Throughout the semester co-op has taught me many things about myself and my future. I have learned about my skills and effectiveness in the workplace; I have learned about the tasks I may be required to complete in a future workplace, and how this new information will affect my path and decisions in the future. Co-op has been a very beneficial course for me, teaching me a lot about myself. This semester has provided me with a new appreciation of skills I had previously acquired and skills I should improve on. Some of the tasks I have enjoyed are the engineering tasks that have been assigned. Previously I had thought that I would like tasks that were less hands on and more office based due to the fact that I am fairly clumsy and usually I can do things in theory but am lacking when I need to do it practically. The desk work that I have been doing regularly has become boring and I find myself daydreaming and thinking about other things. I haven’t really been one to daydream in class or not pay attention and this is the first time that I have truly felt bored from my task and not been able to focus. I don’t know if this is because my tasks have always been changing, the nature of this work doesn’t excite me, or the hands on tasks have just been more motivating because it is a change from the robotic nature of the other tasks. All in all, the work that I have been doing has made me realise that I will likely need a job that allows me to work on different tasks more often, or has more hands on work and less desk work. This placement has helped me ensure that the path I have been following seems to be right for me. I was hesitant to apply for mechanical engineering at Carleton due to how hands on it looked during tours but as the paragraph above states, these doubts have been cleared up. But this knowledge hasn’t made everything better; I have been accepted to computer science at Carleton but haven’t
In addition to this, I feel that my Team building class gave me good insight into the inner workings and mechanics of how teams work. More work.
My team consists of four other people besides myself, Lauren Chojnaki, Alexa-Louise Patnode, and Jacobe Loewen, and Ryan Tyriver. Together, we are tasked with the mission to complete a stakeholder analysis regarding a specific organization and their structure. For this project to be completed successfully, it is important that all team members are able to cooperate with one another and are able to use their different strengths to create the best end product.

A group can become a team when all members are sure enough of themselves and their dedication in order to laud another’s skills. I believe that in many circumstances, taking the initiative to provide suggestion or ideas can be effective in every situation, a leadership role has to be played so that a team can be effective. On the other hand, it is important to consider all members’ suggestion or ideas to the team as they will feel a sense of belonging in the team. Throughout the semester, I understand my role and responsibility in a team to perform better in future. I educated how to collaborate and work with others and I am trained to work in groups, interact with people that we don’t know and tolerate them as it can help in my future career.
I chose to create a scenario that was similar to an incident that occured to a co-worker when I was working on a med-surg floor as a new grad.
You need to admit that you do not have a choice but to complete the task at hand, if you want to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Turn your work into a game. Try to set a time limit and see if you can race to finish the task before time. Treat yourself with something if you accomplish the mission. You will never feel bored again.
Today in America, personal ambition serves the common good. Motivates successful individuals drive social and economic progress and set strong examples for others. In order to help the common good, the common good must first help themselves. Instead of relying on others and the government for assistance, we should all reflect on ourselves and see what we can do for ourselves. If everyone helped themselves no one would need to be helped. Reliance on others is a huge problem with in our society, including a reliance on the government, other citizens and technology, and a reliance on others to help us achieve everyday activities. If we all tried self helping ourselves the world would be a much better place.
I have not always had the best experience working with others to college, however, I am experiencing positive effects with my work at the Anchorage Assembly. I did a feasibility report on homelessness with a couple of my classmates for my Technical Writing class; it wasn’t the best experience for me because I ended up doing most of the work. What I am experiencing now though, is well worth it, I believe.
Co-Rumination. The construct of co-rumination refers to the excessive discussion of personal problems or distress in a dyadic pair and is a common coping strategy used among close friends. Co-rumination goes beyond simply conversing with a friend by including some key characteristics (Rose 2002). Co-rumination is marked by a high frequency of discussing the problems and negative feelings with a friend, and repeatedly returning to the same problems. There is a high amount of speculation within the pair regarding causes and consequences of the problem and also trying to understand parts of the problem that may not be clearly understood already. There is often a high level of encouragement to continue the conversation focusing on the problems.
In college survival class, I have learned a few things. We discussed topics on health, community service, and academic success. These topics are very important because they all have great benefits. Doing them can make a great outcome to my life. I have experience these topics and I will recommend everyone to try it.
After a review of my performance in the assigned group, I have learned a great deal about myself and behavior in the team-setting situation. This is not the first experience in a team setting. Previous team setting experiences were conducted in sporting and recreational environments rather than academics. While the setting and the environments were indeed different, there were many commonalities and correlations between the team settings I previously experienced and the current academic team-setting experience for this academic course project. One of the traits that I had exhibited pertained to being co-operative.
I was thinking days and nights about how do I see myself in future. There were three options for me: an engineer, lawyer or psychologist. I liked the idea of being a lawyer because I like to change people’s opinions on particular cases even if their opinions are right. I liked to see myself as psychologist because I love to help people with their personal problems, give them the best advice, and watch how my advices work. It was a hard decision for me but my cousin and his friends helped me to find out what I really want. Some of them are mechanical engineers, they told me in details how my future will look like after I get my degree. After I counted all pros and cons I have chosen to be an engineer because it is the thing I am ready to go for. The main reason why I chose to be a mechanical engineer is to make people’s life simpler and easier. Basically all the mechanisms purposes are to save time because time is too valuable to waste it. Collaborative learning is an educational approach that involves groups of learners working together to reach a consensus through negotiation to solve a problem, complete a task, or create a product (Bruffee, 1993). Learning occurs through active engagement among peers, wherein the main characteristics of collaborative learning are: a common task or activity; small group learning, co-operative behaviour; interdependence; and individual responsibility and accountability (Lejeune, 2003).

Cooperative learning is learning that occurs when students work in small groups to help each other learn (educational psychology). Throughout my years in the U.S. educational system, I have taken part in cooperative learning system. At times, I have found that it works very well each group member contributes information to the project or the worksheet and we learn off of each other. Other times, I have found that cooperative leaning doesn’t work. I will go in to more detail about why the cooperative learning does and does not work later in this paper. First, I would like to go in to more detail about what cooperative learning is.
