I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school. As of right now I only have one B. My completion of 9 college credit hours last semester has given me a head start into my future endeavors. This semester 15 college credit hours, in addition to my high school classes, is what I have challenged myself with academically. My strict personal goals, future career pathway, and my outstanding time management have earned me a 4.0 in my college classes. This scholarship should be received by me because, I am a strong willed individual, who puts my education at a higher standard than anything else. A challenge of taking a total of 24 college credit hours, while still going to High School, while maintaining a part time job on the side, is not something most individuals would consider. The summer before my junior year of high school, I took CNA classes online, and attended …show more content…
Once I am an RN, labor and delivery is the field I want to continue my education of nursing in. This would be a very rewarding job for me. My love for babies and families would continue to grow over the span of my career. Seeing the effects that a baby may bring to an individual/a family’s life is something that I want to witness. I want a job that brings happiness and excitement to me when I wake up in the morning to attend my job. I feel as if nursing, this kind, especially, would allow me to witness something amazing
I want to be a neonatal nurse practitioner, the reason I want to become a neonatal nurse is because I have a real soft spot for baby. To be a neonatal nurse you have to give special attention to all type of babies. You have to focuses on taking care of ill or newborn infants. You don’t just have to work with infants you will have to work with the family members. I will be able to get close to family member and inform them how the infant is doing and is wrong with the baby.
My career I want to do it be is to be a neonatal nurse. My job would be helping babies, and when you are taking care of them to go home. I would love to be around them all the time, they are just so adorable in every way.
Scholarship has been a major part of my life since elementary school. Although I was never put any pressure at home to get good grades, it has always been a goal of mine. In school, I maintain a positive attitude about the work I receive. My overall average has been a 95 or above every quarter since 6th grade. I’ve maintained my positivity, work ethic, and motivation throughout middle school. From my experiences, I feel that I should be considered for NJHS.
It is a place filled with babies but the robust cries normally present in a nursery are muffled by the sounds of alarms, monitors, and concerned parents. A world in itself completely focused on saving lives. My dream is to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse because I desire to provide critical care and communication skills, along with emotional understanding and stability to the tiniest humans, and their parents.
After over 15 years of working as a CNA and Caregiver, I decided that I wanted to continue my education in the medical field. In 2013 I took the first step towards gaining a better future with more experience as a medical professional. I enrolled into a Medical Assistant program at IBMC college of Longmont. It has been a long road and I am almost to the finish line having gained essential skills needed to move further into my career. It has been a grueling and eye opening experience for me being an adult learner returning back to school at 33 years of age. I persevered through these pass two years with courage and determination, never letting my short comings get the best of me. As I approach the end of my journey with IBMC I have realized that I have a passion for helping those persons who
My courses and experience has empowered, and has reinforced my determination to pursue a career as a nurse. I am eager and excited about starting nursing school, and having my dream which started as a young girl to come full circle. I am convinced I am a good candidate because I have the innate drive to complete the program. I am willing to learn and use those skills and knowledge acquired to provide something meaningful to the society and humanity. I have the personal determination to face the challenges and rigors of nursing school. With hard work, perseverance, and determination I believe I have the essential character to be successful as a nursing student and an excellent quality nurse in the near future. A degree in nursing paves ways for other degrees to emerge especially for those interested in furthering their education in health care. I am committed to continue to pursed advanced degree in nursing ultimately becoming a nurse practitioner. . In the next five to ten years from now, I want to write articles and books about nursing and healthcare related. Therefore, I believe that if I improve myself further positively, I will grow from strength to strength and one day my paper will be read in one of the prestigious newsletters, journals, and textbooks. I know the sky is my starting

My journey at the State University was lead by my passion for the nursing field. Coming from a family of nurses, I have been exposed to the nursing profession throughout my entire life. As I grew older, my realization that nursing was something I was passionate about continued to grow. Many experiences I have personally been through in the last few years have aided in my increasing drive to pursue a nursing career. Unfortunately, my friends, parents and I were very weary regarding my admission into the highly competitive school of nursing. The State University College of Nursing only grants admission to 54 students into their program each year out of over 600 applicants (Office of Student & Career Advancement Services 22, 24). The school also strives for diversity, looking for a wide range of passionate applicants that stand out from the rest. In order to diversify myself, I quickly involved...
I would need to provide emotional and mental assistance to the mother throughout the pregnancy as well as, while she is in labor. As a midwife nurse I would be able to educate the mother on what to do physically to benefit herself and the baby. A major benefit that would come with choosing to be a midwife would be that I would be working one on one with the mother with no interference or I would work with a Physician. Becoming a midwife is appealing to me because I would get to work in the child aspect of the medical field and I would get to help the mother at the same time. In addition to this I would have the pleasure of getting to see the entire process through. From caring for the pregnant mother to seeing the baby
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
Being raised in a Christian household allowed me to appreciate the value of helping others in need, and I am honored to be selected to apply for this scholarship for my dedication in my studies. The LCC Academic Achievement Scholarship will help me achieve my goal of helping others as a Registered Nurse. Laredo as my hometown, I have seen a health need in the community, which is why I plan to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree at TAMIU and work at the local hospital. As I devote time and effort towards my education, I have gladly been able to maintain my 4.0 GPA and be admitted onto the LCC Dean’s List three times.
Nursing is something I think you have to fully go in with a whole heart and start each day with a positive mind set. I want to be able to make people feel safe and comforted when they come in just like I did when I was in and out of the hospital in high school.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
Before I tell you the reasons of why I should be awarded this scholarship. I want to Thank you for allowing students the opportunity to be granted this scholarship. As for me, I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because of the hard work and dedication I contributed during my high school time. Completing high school with a weighed GPA over a 3.0 is a challenging task. I was born a premie weighting 2 lbs 1.8oz, which came from being born 12 weeks early.
I would like to work in either the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or in a pediatric trauma center. Being able to put a smile on a hurting child’s face and giving grieving and confused parents hope seems so rewarding and fulfilling. Having a child go through a physically traumatic event is just as emotionally traumatic to the parent. As stated at the beginning, nursing is not for the faint of heart. It is for the devoted and hard-working. One must not view is as just a job, but a lifestyle and ministry. Some nurses prefer the craziness of working in the hospital, while others prefer the normal, routine atmosphere of a doctor’s office. “Because patients in hospitals and nursing care facilities need round-the-clock care, nurses in these settings usually work in rotating shifts, covering all 24 hours” (Oct. 8, 17). In doctor’s offices, nurses typically work normal daytime office hours. Many mothers and fathers who are nurses prefer working in a private practice, because they work while their children are in school and take care of them when they get out. Both setting is as equally
