Before I tell you the reasons of why I should be awarded this scholarship. I want to Thank you for allowing students the opportunity to be granted this scholarship. As for me, I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because of the hard work and dedication I contributed during my high school time. Completing high school with a weighed GPA over a 3.0 is a challenging task. I was born a premie weighting 2 lbs 1.8oz, which came from being born 12 weeks early. According to my mom I was eager to get started with life, which I can relate to now as I am eager to start my education to become a Fire Fighter. Being a early raiser which I call it versus a late bloomer I received language and speech services for all of my time in elementary and middle …show more content…
I have a two parents that served in the USAF. I feel their commitment to this country was an act of selflessness as they left their families at young adults to protect this great nation. Being awarded this scholarship will allow me to serve my community as certificated firer fighter. To become a certified Firefighter in the state of Florida students need to be EMT certified and earn a Firefighter II certification. My goal is to earn my AS in Fire Science Technology program from Indian River State College. This degree will grant me all the requirements needed to become a certificated firefighter. This degree will also allow me to move towards higher positions within the department and compete with other qualified fire fighter as this is a very competitive career. To assist in this competitive career, I have joined the local Fire District Explorer program. This program has allowed me to gain insight into a firefighter job and work side by side with actual firefighters. Earning this scholarship will be the start of my career and my
I believe that there are many reasons that I am well qualified to receive this “Courage to Grow” scholarship. One main point would be my excellence in leadership and community service. I currently serve as senior class Vice President and President of the Future Teachers of America club at Auburn High School. I am a class representative for our Student Council and am very involved with the children’s ministry at my local church, serving as a Kids Camp counselor and VBS assembly leader. Another reason I believe I should receive this scholarship is for my outstanding academic achievements. I have been inducted into the National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honors Society. I have also received
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
In a world where most college freshmen do not graduate or dropout, i feel like it would mean to much more to me to graduate and be able to say I got my degree. studies have said that half of freshman will not complete there degree, another study said that 25% of freshmen will change their major before they finish their sophomore year. If i was given this scholarship money it would put me in a place where hopefully I won't become just another statistic. Another reason a college degree is important for me to achieve is so that i will be respected in my work industry of choice. When you are in a place of work, there is always someone who everyone looks up to because they know the most about certain things, but more often than not that person has the highest degree in his or her field. If I was awarded this scholarship i would be more capable of being that person because i would not have to worry about leaving school to figure out how I will pay off my
Getting this scholarship was my jump start to furthering my education and I knew from there that I was going to prove statistics wrong. I knew I was going to college and that things were going to be different for me and I was going to make a difference. I won’t be the black kid who drops out of school, because my education is too important to
Feel I qualify for this scholarship because I love to help people. Through different experiences, such as sports and school, I have learned and demonstrated various leadership skills. Being a Link crew leader not only taught me how to be a leader but, it help me have faith in myself and to always look up to younger people. I joined link crew so I could help our new 10 graders find their way around, and to feel included and accepted at their new school. For example during orientation in august I was giving good amount of advice to my sophomore group to be able to survive high school since I am a senior this year This made me proud and humbled that I could make a huge impact in someone's life. Another reason is I am good at organization and
With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself achieve our ultimate goals for the near future.
My passion for public service initiated in my third grade reading class. It was there that I volunteered for “Reading Together USA”, a program to help younger children learn to read. The joy and delight that I felt from witnessing my students’ progress was unprecedented to any feeling that I ever felt before, and I knew from that point forward that my life would be committed to serving the public. Although my forms (TRYING TO SAY WAYS LIKE 1st pre-med then law) of serving others may have changed, the trend of service has remained constant through high school, college, and even my career.
I identify with scholarship because all throughout high school I have strived for A’s. There is the occasional class that challenges me that is accompanied by a B, however I still strive for A’s following that B. During my high school career, I have nothing less than a 4.0 GPA. I make sure to attend and participate in class. Being active in academics determines the outcome of an individual along with character, service, and leadership. The four pillars of National Honors Society are what make me who I am. I am a leader who does servicer with astonishing character and excellent scholarship
The opportunity to receive this scholarship would allow myself to further my education because going to college is something i’ve always planned to do since I was little. As of right now, I will be the first to attend college since before my grandparents. To have this opportunity and chance would really mean a lot to not only myself, but my family. Due to financial needs, this scholarship will give myself the head start I need when it comes to paying for tuition. Consequently, neither one of my parents can afford to put me through college, therefore I will need to work my way through school to pay for tuition.
Describe the factors or attributes you feel make you a deserving candidate for this award. I feel as though I am very deserving of this award because I have worked very hard to keep my grades where they are at right now. Also there is not that many scholarships for student who are not freshman or transfer student. If I were to transfer to UTA right now with my current grades I would get the automatic scholarship that transfer students get if they have a 3.5 GPA. I think I have made great academic progress in my time here a UTA, and am only going to continue to get better, for this reason I believe i am a deserving candidate for this award.
Being able to go to Mazzuchelli Catholic middle school has been an opportunity that I am truly thankful for. Whether it’s struggling or finding success in areas such as academics, extracurricular activities, or my faith life. Before starting middle school I remember being so scared that I cried that first day, but as soon as I walked through the doors I went to my locker and instantly felt better when I saw one of my friends from elementary school. I definitely had some struggles during middle school, things like being to scared to try something new or not even knowing what I wanted to do. Service has been a struggle for me throughout my middle school years, I had trouble finding service opportunities to get all of my hours done.
With a scholarship, it can help me shape my dreams in being the first in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree. With that degree, I would like to major in communications and be able to focus in broadcasting work in both the radio and television fields. I possess the skill of hard work. It shows in every aspect of my life from my desolate upbringing to my noted academic work which has placed me on the President’s/Dean’s list on several occasions and even into my volunteer work which has netted me hundreds of cumulative hours within the college. A scholarship would only help me further my overall success and bring all of my goals to
