Before I tell you the reasons of why I should be awarded this scholarship. I want to Thank you for allowing students the opportunity to be granted this scholarship. As for me, I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because of the hard work and dedication I contributed during my high school time. Completing high school with a weighed GPA over a 3.0 is a challenging task. I was born a premie weighting 2 lbs 1.8oz, which came from being born 12 weeks early. According to my mom I was eager to get started with life, which I can relate to now as I am eager to start my education to become a Fire Fighter. I have a two parents that served in the USAF. I feel their commitment to this country was an act of selflessness as they left their families at young adults to protect this great nation. Being awarded this scholarship will allow me to serve my community as certificated firer fighter. To become a certified Firefighter in the state of Florida students need to be EMT certified and earn a Firefighter II certification. My goal is to earn my AS in Fire Science Technology program from Indian River State College. This degree will grant me all the requirements needed to become a certificated firefighter. This degree will also allow me to move towards higher positions within the department and compete with other qualified fire fighter as this is a very competitive career. To assist in this competitive career, I have joined the local Fire District Explorer program.
