Being raised in a Christian household allowed me to appreciate the value of helping others in need, and I am honored to be selected to apply for this scholarship for my dedication in my studies. The LCC Academic Achievement Scholarship will help me achieve my goal of helping others as a Registered Nurse. Laredo as my hometown, I have seen a health need in the community, which is why I plan to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree at TAMIU and work at the local hospital. As I devote time and effort towards my education, I have gladly been able to maintain my 4.0 GPA and be admitted onto the LCC Dean’s List three times.
While many have contributed to my education and desire to help others, but mainly my youth leaders and my mom. My youth leaders not
To be an Apple HBCU Scholar would be one of the greatest accomplishment I have achieve. Working for Apple is a dream because they are leaders in consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. By working for apple it would help mold me into that global engineer that I want to become. Being exposing to the world of computers from the top company would be mind blowing for me. I am a computer engineer who is eager to learn everything I can about computers and electronics. Interning for the top company will help elevate my skills and take me to the next level in my career. Becoming a Apple HBCU scholar would not only be an accomplishment for me, but eye opening to see how the a top company operate their business. I want those opportunities
I will contribute to the mission of the Nurse Corps Scholarship program by continuing to provide care to individuals in underserved communities. Medically underserved communities involve racial minorities, offenders and ex-offenders, crime or abuse victims, LGBTQ citizens, people with AIDS, and those that are economically disadvantaged. I was born in the small town of Monroeville, AL. It is a great town but it does not have the best resources when it comes to health care. Most members of this town, including my family, would bypass the hospital there and go to the one in the next town simply because they feel
The National Honors Society is defined as an organization that acknowledges remarkable high school students who exemplify leadership, character, and service. But possessing these qualities, goes beyond a definition. It is a person: one who upholds their own moral convictions, is always willing to help others, and tries to be an integral part of the community. I believe I work to define myself as this kind of person daily and would be a valuable member to the National Honors Society.
One day I hope to become a Nurse Practitioner giving compassionate and adequate care to those individuals who are less fortunate and are in need of care. My life experiences, educational background, and determination will drive me through what's to come as I prepare myself to gain my BSN and become a Nurse. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I am applying for admission to Colorado Christian University. I never thought after having a family that I would be attending college. I want to show my children that with hard work and a good spirit anything is possible. They look to me for guidance daily as they grow and mature into who they will become both professionally and spiritually. They are the driving life force moving me forward testing myself with every learning experience. After what I have accomplished so far I know that I can go further and complete what I believe will be my impression and imprint on this world. When I am gone I will look back happily at the legacy I have left for my family as well as the persons I will
Nursing Corps scholarship program mission is to provide qualified and dedicated nurses to provide amazing care to patients in underserved communities. It will be an honor for me to serve and provide quality care to patients when I graduate from nursing school and pass the board exam.
Growing up on the south side of Chicago in the roughest neighborhood in the city I learned a lot from others and just observing my surroundings. At times, I would always think to myself my situation could always be worse than it was, and that there is always someone who is doing worst off than me. But my situation turned from being in a bad position to being in a position where my mother would come to lose her mother and our home that we had been living in, all in the same year. After losing her mother and bother my mom lost herself in her emotions and shut down on everyone and with that came the loss of a home for me and my siblings and her job. Shortly after my mom began to go back to church and so did we. It was the first time in a log time that we had attended church and it played a big part in a learning experience for me and my siblings. Through the days that came to pass going to church sparked a desire of wanting to help others who had or are struggling to get by. My mentor, Pastor, and teacher deserves appreciation for helping my mother through a hard time and keeping me and my siblings active in a positive manor.
Thank You scholarship selection committee for selecting me to be one of this years scholarship recipients. I am honored to have received this award that will help me along this new chapter of my life. The Hispanic Development Fund Scholarship will help me tremendously to help me pay for my fees at Park University. It helps my parents and I to worry less about paying for college. I plan to major in biology to later get in toxicology. I’m very passionate about the field that I want to pursue. Without the support that this organization gives to many students many of us wouldn’t be able to have the opportunity to go to college to accomplish our dreams. I will work very hard to not let this organization down, my family and myself down. Thank you
“Nurses don’t wait until October to celebrate Make a Difference Day — they make a difference every day”, explains an unknown author. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am also a person who thrives on being challenged and I always have new goals to achieve, so nursing suits me as few other careers offer as much diversity and learning opportunities so, attending Virginia Commonwealth University is something that has been my desire for the longest. The intentions that I have for when I become a nurse practitioner are to aid and care for the sick, as well as I am able but also to assist doctors and staff as well as I am capable.
Through the traumatic experience of my father’s illness, a positive and optimistic perspective of commitment to nursing career evolved. My journey of becoming a nurse and commitment of shining a bright light on another individual life has been my life long goal. I moved to the United States in early 1980 and with God help and guidance, I followed the nursing career and promised to make a small difference. During my first years as a nursing student, I took a part-time volunteered position as a candy-stripe and a part-time position as a nurse aid in a community hospital to provide relief and support to hospital staffs. I rocked and read poems for babies in the nursery, as a nurse aid I assist nurses with vital signs, blood pressures, fill ice pitchers in patient rooms, runs specimens to labs and sit with patients in the room and feed patients. I still volunteer in my hospital oncology department and the underserved and homeless clinics with several Emory physicians at the Good Samaritan Health Center, Mercy Care and National AIDS Education and Services for Minorities (NAESM) all in Fulton County, Ga, because it gave me fulfillment and appreciative of life
This experience is the very foundation in which my aspirations are rooted, fostering changes both professionally and academically. My objectives include caring for others in a setting that reaches out to communities, with a focus on the Hispanic community. Becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, I will be able to holistically care for children, adults, and seniors; an important aspect of Hispanic culture. Education is crucial to personal and professional growth; with this in mind I look forward to instilling the love and compassion I have for nursing to future nursing
My experience as a first generation low-income student is what fuels my motivation to succeed. My struggles are the reasons I’m so driven in my education. I strongly believe that receiving a higher education is the only way to improve my life. I work hard every day to make ensure I’m successfully building a foundation for my future. Through my challenges, I’ve found my passion to help students strive personally, professionally, and academically at UCI. I‘m determined to become a foundation for students who come from similar backgrounds because I understand the obstacles that might arise and I can relay the wisdom and knowledge I have attained so I can help the individual. My choice of majors, the extracurricular activities I’m involve in, and anything I do reflects my passion of helping students strive at
My academic goal is to graduate in the Top 10% of my class. I have gained knowledge of the nursing profession through classroom training activities, local medical facility visits, inspirational speakers and mentor presentations. It has motivated me to continue my education. It has also helped me realize that taking care of the needs of others is important; the way in which I can do this is by becoming a nurse. I know this is my calling to care for others, and for me this program has made it possible. I propose to myself to get at least an A in all my
I hope you are doing well. We spoke awhile back about the scholarship I received from the African American committee. I followed the instructions in the email you gave me but I have yet to receive a response. I just wanted to make sure that I had done what I needed to receive the scholarship award.
The Assistance League can be helpful in my success in school by providing the monetary assistance, as well as the mental support I need to achieve my future career goals. I believe a solid undergraduate education is essential in order successfully continue my education afterwards and enter medical school; however, in order to proceed with my education, I must come up with the funds in order to reach my goal. While I work in order to cover cost, monetary assistance would immensely relieve the stress of paying for tuition and other bills, thus allowing me to focus more energy into studying for my courses. The funds would also help me participate in organizations and other activities on campus, expanding my horizons by actively participating within my school and community, offering me experiences and knowledge that is unattainable in the classroom.
I wish to obtain a college education because I want to make my future the best that I can and I believe that a college education is really important for one to obtain. Without a college education one will not have the ability of success like one will if they decide to go to college. I want to go to college not only to get a higher education but also so I will be able to help other people with my career choice. Being a nurse will give me the ability to help people everyday with the special needs that only a college graduate will be able to provide. Although there are many other career fields that help people everyday I believe that nursing is the most important. I think I am deserving of this scholarship because education has always been my
