My name is Katelyn Sandoval, I was born in Dallas, TX. I am 21 years old, full-time student at Tarrant County College. I am the oldest of three sisters. I am also married to my husband Jose; we have two beautiful kids named Joshua he is a year and a half and Susana is 7 months. I love to spending time with my kids, they have changed completely my perspective of how I view the world. I grew up motivating myself, and no matter what I faced, I have educated myself to hustle through the issues, life can bring. I give thanks to God, that I have been successful in everything that I have accomplished thus far, and I have established more goals and dreams in my life, that I am determine to fulfill.
My academic goal is to graduate in the Top 10% of my class. I have gained knowledge of the nursing profession through classroom training activities, local medical facility visits, inspirational speakers and mentor presentations. It has motivated me to continue my education. It has also helped me realize that taking care of the needs of others is important; the way in which I can do this is by becoming a nurse. One of my goals I want to accomplish is to get the highest degree possible in college. I want to major in nursing and the highest degree in nursing is a doctorate level degree. Even though I have to get my bachelor’s and master’s degree first, I will accomplish my goal and get my doctorates. I am Stella Hernandez I was born in Seattle, Washington in January of 1999. I was raised in a house with my mother, father and 3 sibling. I am a Mexican-American women and at the moment I am 17 years old. My life has always been nothing but hardships and obstacles, these are the things that created me to who I am today.
I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico in Oct, 1994 to a young couple named Jovita and Miguel. I was raised in the country side, in a small town in the big state of Guanajuato, Mexico. I am one on the three children in my family to be exact I’m the middle one in my family. I have my brother Rolando he is the older one and I have a little sister Karen. My parents don’t have so much education they barely finished middle school in Mexico. My mother drop out of middle school because at that time she had to work to help my grandparents at home. Because my grandparents had my mother and other older uncles also drop out school to start working to bring some extra money to the house. My father also drop out of middle school to star working in the ranch that my other grandparents had with Cows ,Pigs ,Chickens and the growth of corn, and wheat.
When I began this journey I knew that Nursing was all I wanted to do and in order to succeed and do well in nursing school, it was going to require a ton of devotion and sacrifice. Nursing school did not come without its challenges, not only did we have to deal with going to class, clinicals, studying for exams, but we also had to add in the factors of jobs, family, marriages, children, sickness and our daily life. But our instructors encouraged us and pushed us to keep going, and for that we are grateful because we all made a decision to stick with it, and here we are today. It seems unimaginable that just a year ago this journey was just beginning, but here we are today a year later,
My courses and experience has empowered, and has reinforced my determination to pursue a career as a nurse. I am eager and excited about starting nursing school, and having my dream which started as a young girl to come full circle. I am convinced I am a good candidate because I have the innate drive to complete the program. I am willing to learn and use those skills and knowledge acquired to provide something meaningful to the society and humanity. I have the personal determination to face the challenges and rigors of nursing school. With hard work, perseverance, and determination I believe I have the essential character to be successful as a nursing student and an excellent quality nurse in the near future. My journey at the State University was lead by my passion for the nursing field. Coming from a family of nurses, I have been exposed to the nursing profession throughout my entire life. As I grew older, my realization that nursing was something I was passionate about continued to grow. Many experiences I have personally been through in the last few years have aided in my increasing drive to pursue a nursing career. Unfortunately, my friends, parents and I were very weary regarding my admission into the highly competitive school of nursing. Sophomore year, I took Principles of Health Science as an elective. Before this, I had no desire to be a nurse. Towards the beginning of the year, it was all about words, learning terms to better our knowledge. During this time, I really had no interest, just taking the class because I needed the credit. As the year went on, I started to find a love for helping people. Children are my passion, i've always known that. By the end of the year, they asked us which ones of us want to continue through this program next year, and hopefully get our Certified Nurse Assistant license. My hand was the first one in the air.
I’m Sasha Lynnette Smith I was born November 3, 1997 in Magnolia Arkansas at Magnolia Hospital. I don’t recall ever living in Arkansas but I visited every school break in till I got old enough to make my own decisions. My parents Christa McCray and Bobby Smith Sr. had me in their late thirty’s. A year later my parent decided to move to Dallas Texas with my older siblings Randall, Cristopher, and Alexis (Which were older than me by 10 and 12 years). Growing up in a family where nobody in college, I choose to take the change of my life when I choose to apply to nursing school. After working as RN, I decide that I want to advance in my practice in professional responsibility, autonomy and flexibility. I want to put a positive influence on the lives of my patients and their families. And I want to become NP. I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The honors college would provide me opportunities to continue my extra curricular activities in a small group of students like a family. During my senior year at Central, my goal was to get through the mini-series of research methods and Statistics required for the major with at least a B or better; I am proud to say I passed those classes with A’s and B’s.
