Medical Assistant Personal Statement

After over 15 years of working as a CNA and Caregiver, I decided that I wanted to continue my education in the medical field. In 2013 I took the first step towards gaining a better future with more experience as a medical professional. I enrolled into a Medical Assistant program at IBMC college of Longmont. It has been a long road and I am almost to the finish line having gained essential skills needed to move further into my career. It has been a grueling and eye opening experience for me being an adult learner returning back to school at 33 years of age. I persevered through these pass two years with courage and determination, never letting my short comings get the best of me. As I approach the end of my journey with IBMC I have realized that I have a passion for helping those persons who

are in need of adequate and compassionate healthcare. It is at this moment I knew that I wanted to go further in school to become a Nurse as this has always been my dream. I’ve attended IBMC and this has given me preliminary experience as to what is expected of me as a student. After researching local colleges and universities I decided to inquire about Colorado Christian University. Many of my former and current classmates have spoken highly of CCU and this also added to my eagerness to learn more about what CCU has to offer. After speaking with Teri O. and learning about the core values of CCU I felt immediately that this was the school for me. I firmly believe that Nurses are born not made. It is the compassionate and caring nature that comes from deep within the soul that drives the care that a Nurse delivers to his or her patients. This is something I believe that CCU offers in the form of a well rounded education. Preparing those who want to bring “Care” back to the healthcare environment. Creating lasting bonds with patients who will look back and think fondly of the Nurse who cared for them when they were in need. I’ve thought about my professional future in great detail and have come to the conclusion that I am meant to go further than being employed.

One day I hope to become a Nurse Practitioner giving compassionate and adequate care to those individuals who are less fortunate and are in need of care. My life experiences, educational background, and determination will drive me through what's to come as I prepare myself to gain my BSN and become a Nurse. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I am applying for admission to Colorado Christian University. I never thought after having a family that I would be attending college. I want to show my children that with hard work and a good spirit anything is possible. They look to me for guidance daily as they grow and mature into who they will become both professionally and spiritually. They are the driving life force moving me forward testing myself with every learning experience. After what I have accomplished so far I know that I can go further and complete what I believe will be my impression and imprint on this world. When I am gone I will look back happily at the legacy I have left for my family as well as the persons I will
