I find myself privileged as I am the first generation from my family to complete Bachelor Degree. Therefore, "reaching perfection through adversity" is what inspired my journey of Physician Assistant studies. I am originally from small South-Asian country called Nepal, where I completed my High School education with science major. As a science student, I was always curious to know the cause, symptoms, prevention, and precaution of diseases. Unconsciously, I was trying to pursue medical profession. With a strong desire to help community and undeserved population, I got associated with organizations like: Red Cross and Rotary International during my High School education where I worked as a volunteer. These further strengthen my endeavor to pursue career in medical sector. Fortunately, I was able to come to United States (U.S.) through U.S. Diversity Visa criteria and move along with my dreams. Even though there were cultural and linguistic challenges in U.S., I decided to find a common ground and move ahead. As “Man’s best successes comes after their disappointments", my first encounter with physician assistant (PA) was when I suffered from Anemia and got admitted to emergency. During my hospital stay, she explained and answered my questions regarding my health conditions, preventions, reasons, causes and effects along with precautions and kept me informed all the time. She was very passionate, patience and devoted while dealing with me. And I realized that PA is not only a profession, but it is also a way to serve community and get satisfaction through services. Her impression was tipping point in shaping my career choice. However, the path from that point onward till now has not been easy. Further, I encountered PAs' when my co... ... middle of paper ... ...ts, electrocardiogram, sonogram and cardiac rehabilitation. As a clinical observer, I found an opportunity to create a solid foundation on patient diagnosis and treatment, and not to mention, long hours with charting and recording patients’ information. Finally, I believe my experience as a CPhT, clinical experience along with knowledge and passion for helping people will help me become a successful physician assistant candidate. While working in groups as an undergraduate student, I would always motivate myself and dedicate to reach the team goal. And learning from my shadowing experience, I think that motivation to give fullest attention and care to patients is very important. I believe being a PA is having great responsibility and with my educational background, cultural diversity and strong desire to be a health practitioner, I am ready for this challenge.
