Nursing is a very important job in the medical field and is projected to grow in certain aspects over the next few years. There are multiple sub-careers to go into and some are more general than others. The options go from children to elderly people and dealing with all different types of diseases. There are even specialties for different organs in the body of one’s geared more towards female’s or male’s. I am undecided on which specialty to choose however, I know that I would like to pick one that concerns children due to the fact that ever since I myself was a young adult I have always loved children and taking care of them. Nursing has multiple specialties to choose from that involve children such as, a Midwife nurse, neonatal nurse, and a pediatric nurse. …show more content…
I would need to provide emotional and mental assistance to the mother throughout the pregnancy as well as, while she is in labor. As a midwife nurse I would be able to educate the mother on what to do physically to benefit herself and the baby. A major benefit that would come with choosing to be a midwife would be that I would be working one on one with the mother with no interference or I would work with a Physician. Becoming a midwife is appealing to me because I would get to work in the child aspect of the medical field and I would get to help the mother at the same time. In addition to this I would have the pleasure of getting to see the entire process through. From caring for the pregnant mother to seeing the baby
I want to be a neonatal nurse practitioner, the reason I want to become a neonatal nurse is because I have a real soft spot for baby. To be a neonatal nurse you have to give special attention to all type of babies. You have to focuses on taking care of ill or newborn infants. You don’t just have to work with infants you will have to work with the family members. I will be able to get close to family member and inform them how the infant is doing and is wrong with the baby.
When people think of a pediatric nurse practitioner, they normally think of a person who performs examinations, takes blood samples, and measures vital signs of children who are sick. What they don’t see are the countless hours spent getting to know the patient, showing sympathy and understanding, and having to explain the diagnosis and treatment plans to the parents and sometimes to the child. According to my career cruising inventory, any job in the medical field would be right for me. However, after reading the descriptions, I concluded that a pediatric nurse practitioner was the best path. I will be attending nursing school to receive my nurse practitioner license, while specializing in pediatrics. The skills, educational requirements,
My research paper is on the healthcare occupation, in particularly, the field of licensed practical nursing, also called licensed vocational nurses. In my paper, I will cover such things as the definition of career choice, certain requirements, the expected job duties and responsibilities, any additional licensure that is required. After discussing these topics, I will then point out the potential of finding a job, the ranges of salary, as well as the environment I would be working in. Finally, I will talk about the potential growth in this field and legal requirements. Now i will start with the definition of my career choice.
Nurses today are the backbone of the medical field. The knowledge that was required to become a nurse in the past would no longer be enough in the medical field today. Nurses in today’s society have a much more extensive knowledge in practicing medicine. Doctors rely heavily on nurses for assistance with many different tasks, such as taking a patient’s blood pressure to assisting during surgery. Although a nurse can qualify to do many different jobs within the medical field, there are some who specialize in a certain area. One area of specialty that many nurses go into is neonatal nursing. A neonatal nurse is a nurse that cares for premature infants. They work in the NICU, which is short for neonatal intensive care unit, within the hospital. To become a neonatal nurse one is required to have the necessary educational background, to be able to work in a hectic environment, and also to be able to have a flexible schedule. Neonatal nursing may not be for everyone, but it is a rewarding profession.
Once I am an RN, labor and delivery is the field I want to continue my education of nursing in. This would be a very rewarding job for me. My love for babies and families would continue to grow over the span of my career. Seeing the effects that a baby may bring to an individual/a family’s life is something that I want to witness. I want a job that brings happiness and excitement to me when I wake up in the morning to attend my job.
Throughout history mankind has come up with some wonderful inventions and innovations, but out of all the creations by far the most beautiful and precious is human birth. I first developed an interest in nursing and in particular midwifery years ago. I believe it is a great service within the health profession because of the privileged position to assist in human childbirth. The word midwife means with woman. Centuries before obstetricians delivered babies, midwifes assisted women in having at home births. But it was only formally established as a profession in the early 1900’s. A nurse-midwife is a registered nurse that specializes in midwifery. The job of midwife is to assist in family planning and birth control advice, provide general gynecological services (such as pap smears and breast exams), aid women in childbirth, and help women by providing prenatal and postpartum care. Nurse-midwives are required to have a Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and pass the American College of Nurse Midwifery (ACNM) board examination to obtain certification.
In the nursing field there are many different options to pick from but if you adore infants then neonatal nursing could be a good option for you. A neonatal nurse is an expert who takes part in caring for premature and sick newborn infants. A newborn infant requires a lot of care, patience and also requires a lot of your attention. Considering the infant needs a lot of attention, you are basically serving as their caregiver. Babies who are born premature face many issues such as respiratory distress syndrome, apnea, anemia, chronic lung disease, and infections. The expert has the job of treating and caring for the infants’ and also providing nutritional and medical requirements for the infants’.
Nursing has always been a key career in the health care system. Although it is not often focused on in media and stories surrounding health care, nursing is a career of great importance. If any patient was asked about their experience at a hospital or a care center, many will mention the capability and care that they received from the nurses. The health care system could not function efficiently, if at all, if nurses were not present to perform their part. Nurses are more than just physicians support staff. Of interest in this paper is why people choose to study nursing in university or college. From students just graduating high school to mature student who have prior degrees or education, nursing is a popular choice as a path to study
Nursing is the prevention of illness and injury and the promotion of health. The nursing field is high in demand and has a wide range of specialties, from childcare to cancer nurses. A pediatric nurse is a type of specialty that works with children from birth through their teenage years. Being a Pediatric nurse is an admirable profession that impacts the lives of many children.
Nursing is a beautiful field. People for hundreds of years have been associated with the field of nursing. For the society, they play the role of caregivers; they are admired for the services they provide to the people who are no longer able to help themselves, common people and for the military but they are not paid enough for the effort they put into their work. However, the thing they want most out of their job is respect. In March 2013, I observed my aunt who is a nurse during her night shifts for a week on birth and delivery floor. Due to the lack of staff in the night shift, we had to move back and forth from the delivery room to the triage. It was inspiring for me to know the amount of patience, understanding and self-control that a
Another benefit that midwives provide in supporting continuous care for the expecting mom is a holistic approach to care. Midwives typically provide more hands-on support and comfort during intrapartum care than physicians (Hastings, 2015). Midwives are not only concerned with the physical aspects of birthing, but also how the mom is doing emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. No matter the age, the midwife can provide great comprehensive care to a pregnant adolescent to a pregnant woman in menopause (Davidson et al., 2016).
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
I also can prop them so they can be ready and tell them what they have to do either if they have to push the baby out, get a sea section or have a water birth … Another Reason why I would like to major in midwifery is because I have experience in this career and background information, ever since I was little I have been getting informed about this and been watching my god mother make her way through work like this and I would like to do the same because she has inspired me to become a midwife so I can watch after the mothers and their new born babies. I would also like to be a Mid-Wife because as I was growing up I would watch videos and movies that have to do with doctors or nurses giving birth to children or shall I say Delivering new born babies and watching over them and the mother for the next 28 days. I also would like to be a mid-wife because I can get my bachelorette's degree and my certification card and focus on further Careers similar to that just so I can More degrees in the medical field and even get certified in that field. The
perspective on the role of a midwife is a medical professional that works in partnership with women and families to educate, guide, support and protect women through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. I believe a midwife is to go over and beyond to help the mental, emotional and physical well-being of their patient while maintaining professional standards. I want to be a midwife because many women I have met throughout my life have told me stories where they didn’t receive this kind of care, therefore I want to provide this care myself. I believe I would be a perfect candidate because of who I have become and qualities I have gained through my life experience.
The nurses are the ones that builds a bond with women. They are also able to gain the trust and relationship with women that are going through pregnancy or childbirth. Many women that are experiencing pregnancy symptoms for the time may have a lot of concerns which is where an obstetric nurse come in. The women will feel as if they are in good hands and are willing to allow you to help them. The nurses have the opportunity to support and fight for women needs over time and also have the opportunity to care for undeserved women domestically.
