I would be a good candidate for this award because I am devoted to my education and future, and I am determined to knock off the expenses that college entails little by little. I understand the value of every scholarship, no matter the size, because every bit of the money I am awarded is part of the final sum I do not have to pay off, and can therefore put towards something else vital to my goals and dreams. Some of my plans for the future include earning my PhD in positive psychology, traveling in order to gain a vast understanding of the earth’s many cultures, and becoming proficient in several languages, especially Spanish. If I were to be awarded this book scholarship, it would be one less piece of the puzzle that I will have to pay for,
I believe that there are many reasons that I am well qualified to receive this “Courage to Grow” scholarship. One main point would be my excellence in leadership and community service. I currently serve as senior class Vice President and President of the Future Teachers of America club at Auburn High School. I am a class representative for our Student Council and am very involved with the children’s ministry at my local church, serving as a Kids Camp counselor and VBS assembly leader. Another reason I believe I should receive this scholarship is for my outstanding academic achievements. I have been inducted into the National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society and the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honors Society. I have also received
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
In a world where most college freshmen do not graduate or dropout, i feel like it would mean to much more to me to graduate and be able to say I got my degree. studies have said that half of freshman will not complete there degree, another study said that 25% of freshmen will change their major before they finish their sophomore year. If i was given this scholarship money it would put me in a place where hopefully I won't become just another statistic. Another reason a college degree is important for me to achieve is so that i will be respected in my work industry of choice. When you are in a place of work, there is always someone who everyone looks up to because they know the most about certain things, but more often than not that person has the highest degree in his or her field. If I was awarded this scholarship i would be more capable of being that person because i would not have to worry about leaving school to figure out how I will pay off my
I deserve to win the $1,000 Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship because I will change lives with its help. I plan to become an early childhood educator and will continue with school until I become just that. I believe that with the help of this scholarship, I will help many children reach goals that are just as significant as my own. Also, I will be able to set an example for children who may have not come from financially stable homes, and show that anything is possible if you put forth the effort. My parents are divorced and I have been evicted from 2 homes in the past three years; however that has not stopped me from getting my high school diploma and setting further goals for myself.
With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself achieve our ultimate goals for the near future.
I am a great candidate for this scholarship because I have been an active member through my FFA Chapter since my freshman year of high school by participating in community service activities and FFA competitions. Without the guidance
The opportunity to receive this scholarship would allow myself to further my education because going to college is something i’ve always planned to do since I was little. As of right now, I will be the first to attend college since before my grandparents. To have this opportunity and chance would really mean a lot to not only myself, but my family. Due to financial needs, this scholarship will give myself the head start I need when it comes to paying for tuition. Consequently, neither one of my parents can afford to put me through college, therefore I will need to work my way through school to pay for tuition.
I choose to challenge myself by taking honors and AP classes. I can overcome obstacles that stand in my way and persevere through tough problems. I participate in school through my involvement in Student Council as an Executive Treasurer, Key Club as an active member, Varsity Tennis, Science Club, Band as Section Leader and National Honor Society. As well as in school, I help out in my community, whether it’s at my church, as a volunteer at the Bitterroot Public Library, or helping to preserve the Daly Mansion. If I am awarded this scholarship, I will use it towards college tuition and I will work hard to pursue my career as an
The ultimate reason I deserve this scholarship is because I won’t disappoint you. I am very hardworking and I like to take on challenges. Getting this scholarship would help me achieve my dream.
A humanitarian is a person promoting human welfare and social reform. In other words, to be a humanitarian is to care about life and help make a change for the betterment of life in general for the general populace or even a specified group that required the help. "The Humanitarian award was created to recognize outstanding individuals who dedicate their time to fighting indifference, intolerance, and injustice." ~Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. My humanitarian nomination helped and continues to help my family in big ways.
Describe the factors or attributes you feel make you a deserving candidate for this award. I feel as though I am very deserving of this award because I have worked very hard to keep my grades where they are at right now. Also there is not that many scholarships for student who are not freshman or transfer student. If I were to transfer to UTA right now with my current grades I would get the automatic scholarship that transfer students get if they have a 3.5 GPA. I think I have made great academic progress in my time here a UTA, and am only going to continue to get better, for this reason I believe i am a deserving candidate for this award.
There are many strengths and essential skills that are needed to be successful in obtaining educational goals. One that I feel that is my greatest strength in obtaining my educational goals is that I am hardworking. This scholarship would have an immense impact on my education. To be able to accomplish this while being undocumented I believe it would show that progress is possible of however many obstacles are thrown in our way. Even myself having just a high school degree has already broken the cycle of women in my family being forced to be submissive to the men their life. A bachelor's degree would be an achievement my mom, only 20 years ago, would never have imagined possible. Being an undocumented student makes this an even tougher path for myself.
I think I would be a worthy recipient of this bursary because I have spent my time at Almaguin volunteering for anything I could. I love to be involved within the community and helping out wherever I can. I believe I am a good example of a student who is committed to themselves, and furthering their education so they can strive to achieve the goals the set out. But also of a student who is hardworking, and driven in each and every aspect of their lives. I am loyal to my school, and workplace, as well as hardworking.
