It showed me how to improve my time management skills by showing up on time and by being able to finish my job in order to leave when I am supposed to. This also made it possible for me to work on my social skills. Having social skills in college is important because I will be able to make friends for a study group. I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. I plan to graduate from College of the Sequoias with an Associate’s Degree in communications and to maintain a grade point average of at least a 3.7. Once I earn my degree, I will transfer to a university where I will begin to work on my master’s degree. With my master’s degree I can pursue my dream of working for Disney Parks in public relations. While I am still a college student, I will apply and hopefully be given the opportunity to participate in the Disney College Program as well as a Disney Professional Internship. These internships will help me to learn more about working in the field of communications, to gain practical experience and to network with individuals who can help me achieve my career goals. A scholarship would be incredibly helpful for me to achieve all that I intend to by allowing me to devote more time to my school work. Since I currently work two jobs, as a tutor and as a sales associate, it is often difficult to find time and energy to complete my schoolwork. If I were to earn a scholarship, it would allow me to work fewer hours a week so that I can focus more of my energy and time on my education. That way, I can get the best grades possible and have the best chance of success in my

The opportunity to receive this scholarship would allow myself to further my education because going to college is something i’ve always planned to do since I was little. As of right now, I will be the first to attend college since before my grandparents. To have this opportunity and chance would really mean a lot to not only myself, but my family. Due to financial needs, this scholarship will give myself the head start I need when it comes to paying for tuition. Consequently, neither one of my parents can afford to put me through college, therefore I will need to work my way through school to pay for tuition.
I have tried my best all throughout high school and have taken challenging courses such as Calculus and Physics 2. I love a challenge and figuring how to complete one. No matter what the challenge is I will try my best to complete it. In classes such as Calculus or Chemistry, if a problem in class stumps me, I will bring it home just to figure it out and prove to myself I can do it. I do this even if it is not homework. I hope going to college will give me different challenges so I can prove that I am even more hard-working individual and this scholarship will help me get there. I never thought my life would change as much as it did during a short, but what felt like a timely manner. One strength that I have acquired came during a time where it felt like everything was going downhill. For my senior year, I was forced to move with my dad in a different state and missed playing football my last year. The overall experience lasted 7 months, but it turned out to be a great experience for me. It hurt since I had colleges looking at me, but it has helped me in several ways.
I am a survivor who conquered health and educational hardships by having determination, faith, and most importantly, God's grace. I refuse to let anyone tell me what I cannot do and who I cannot be.
