Have you ever thought to yourself being a senior in high school, “Wow, I am not ready to be out in the real world. I still need help and don’t want to be on my own”?? There are many students that are almost about to graduate and feel this way. They feel this way because there are some areas of real world survival that are being missed in education. The education system is to hooked on standardized tests and making classes harder than adding in classes that help students out in the real world. A real world survival class that teaches about college prep involving finances, dual enrollment and RESA information, and scholarships should be required to take to graduate high school.

The information should be talked about before the dual enrollment classes are even taken, but the benefits should also be talked about after the classes for refreshment. There are quite a few benefits from taking dual enrollment and RESA though, so it is a good idea to discuss the it. The students save money from these classes. They also save time from going to college for an extra year, etc. I have siblings who graduated high school in the past few years and they took RESA. They knew there were benefits from taking the class but they couldn’t remember all of the benefits. My siblings were told about RESA and dual enrollment when they were sophomores before they took the classes, but they needed to be refreshed on it again. If there was a class for them to take before they graduated, my siblings would have remembered what they benefited from taking the class. College is very expensive and scholarships will help you with saving money. There are multiple different kinds of scholarships that students can apply for. Academics, sports, work, etc. Many individuals are not aware of scholarships that are available. This is why this should be taught about. When I attend college after graduating, I am going to have to pay to attend by myself. My parents are not able to help me with paying for my college. I will be able to work and save my money for college. I will also have a payment plan and have FAFSA. That will still leave a big chunk of expenses that I need to pay for. With scholarships, I will be able to budget my money better and not be as tight and broke. The only problem is, I do not know all of the types of scholarships that I can apply for. I would like to know all of the information that I need to know about scholarships that way I can benefit the most from them. I know I have to win scholarships but knowing that I have a chance to win money is still helpful. Scholarships could help a lot of students if they knew more about them and took the time to apply for the scholarship. I know not all students need these but they are extremely beneficial for the majority of college students.
