As a first year and first generation college student, the CalTeach Summers Scholars would be of great assistance in supporting my goals in finishing my degree. As a student, it has been hard to focus on my education as well as worry about financial costs. I am currently financing my education with the help of my parents and their sacrifice in providing me with the necessary supplies and material in order for me to proceed in getting a higher education. Although, it has been a struggle as a student to be involved in clubs and organizations on campus as well as meet good grades, I feel that my option in getting a job is not necessary. I feel that no one should have to worry about working while spending their time getting an education as it makes it harder for students to balance their studies. As a student, I put in my sole time and dedication in the responsibilities as a student in the University of Merced, California and feel I should only prioritize myself in my social and academics wants without having financial stress. My overall plan is to complete my undergrad degree in public health and move forward to graduate school. In the meantime, I want to strive to get my teaching credentials while in college as a sub career that I wish to have in the future. I am looking forward in gaining more knowledge while here as well as following my …show more content…
I do not want any financial reasons to come between me in having a higher education and feel that this scholarship will be a tremendously help in centering more on school other than worrying about money. I feel I deserve this scholarship because I have always and will continue to represent and make a good example not just as a UC Merced student, but also as a student of the CalTeach program. I hope you take me into high considerations in being an applicant of this
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
I would benefit from this scholarship because not only would it help with the cost of my tuition, but the support will also help lessen my worries about my finances. This scholarship will help my parents as well since they are helping me with my college education. During the past two months and currently, my dad has been in the hospital due to having pancreatitis. In August when he was introduced with it, he went into septic shock and that day he had coded seven times. It is a miracle that he is with my family still, and with the support of this scholarship, it would help out a lot due to the medical bills that my family has. As in the past, I will work
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
Many students believe that they can handle having a part time job and being a college student at the same time. For some students having a job and being in school can be manageable but there is some students who believe they can manage their personal life and school at the same time. In the talk show Tedx Talk with David Ray, Ray mentions that students with jobs tend to struggle more in college and have more of a chance to drop out, when he states “students have to work part time jobs or multiple jobs to pay for tuition and they do less school work”. College is worth it for the students who know how to manage their personal life with their school life but sadly there is students who do not know how to manage their time appropriately and end up dropping out of college which results to losing
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life, a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I will be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself achieve our ultimate goals for the near future.
I am a great candidate for this scholarship because I have been an active member through my FFA Chapter since my freshman year of high school by participating in community service activities and FFA competitions. Without the guidance
Coming from a family with no college education, a college degree has always been a lifetime goal and dream of mine. My mom and dad have worked in furniture factories since their graduation from high school, and I have seen their personal struggles, and it has only pushed me harder to want to attend college. My parents have always worked hard to bless me with all they could, but paying for college is out of their control, therefore I am heavily relying on scholarships. Receiving the Phil Jones Memorial Scholarship would mean everything to me and would be a tremendous help for me while at ICC and UMMC. If I could win this scholarship, it would help me achieve the goal of staying away from student loans and debt.
My short terms goals for college are to maintain my excellent GPA. A good GPA is essential to getting into medical school and this scholarship will allow me to focus more on my
The opportunity to receive this scholarship would allow myself to further my education because going to college is something i’ve always planned to do since I was little. As of right now, I will be the first to attend college since before my grandparents. To have this opportunity and chance would really mean a lot to not only myself, but my family. Due to financial needs, this scholarship will give myself the head start I need when it comes to paying for tuition. Consequently, neither one of my parents can afford to put me through college, therefore I will need to work my way through school to pay for tuition.
The ultimate reason I deserve this scholarship is because I won’t disappoint you. I am very hardworking and I like to take on challenges. Getting this scholarship would help me achieve my dream.
With a scholarship, it can help me shape my dreams in being the first in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree. With that degree, I would like to major in communications and be able to focus in broadcasting work in both the radio and television fields. I possess the skill of hard work. It shows in every aspect of my life from my desolate upbringing to my noted academic work which has placed me on the President’s/Dean’s list on several occasions and even into my volunteer work which has netted me hundreds of cumulative hours within the college. A scholarship would only help me further my overall success and bring all of my goals to
I think I would be a worthy recipient of this bursary because I have spent my time at Almaguin volunteering for anything I could. I love to be involved within the community and helping out wherever I can. I believe I am a good example of a student who is committed to themselves, and furthering their education so they can strive to achieve the goals the set out. But also of a student who is hardworking, and driven in each and every aspect of their lives. I am loyal to my school, and workplace, as well as hardworking.
High school is supposed to get students ready for the real world. The knowledge we learn in those four years can help choose our majors, however, sometimes in those four years we do not learn what it is like to pay bills or manage time between work and school. Whether the student work only on weekends or after school on weekdays, it raises the question if it is beneficial for students to have a job while going to school. Some people have argued that having a job can help students manage their time while others say it takes time away from education. Having a job can teach students that once they become adults they have to depend on their income for the things that they want.
Nowadays, the numbers of students who are always looking for a part time job while they are attending college is increasing every day. According to an article was published in 1998 on The Futurist, the number of students who have a part-time job increased from 5% of students in the 1950s to almost 70% of the students in some communities (“Jobs hurt school performance” n. page). Because of a bunch of fee and cost that students have to handle, working during college seems to be a necessity than an option. The part-time jobs provide not only paychecks but also experience, skills for the students. It is very helpful for the students after they graduate college and look for a real job. Although there are some people who argue that having a job during
