What is Student Success?
I’m sure you all have your own ideas and opinions on this subject. Many may believe it’s the student that never misses class, studies every day, and graduates with a high GPA. But it can be as simple as grasping difficult concepts, being involved in student organizations or applying what you have learned in the real world. A successful student is one that realizes their journey is not over, they are continually impacting those around them. Here are some tips to help you achieve student success.

Come up with a strategy that complements your schedule and learning style. There are many techniques you can employ to make studying less demanding and more effective. For example, you can use Mnemonics to help you memorize difficult material or flash cards to actively retain what you have memorized.
Mnemonics-" target="_blank" We all remember from elementary school or junior high the order of planets by repeating these mnemonics, “My Very Eager Mother Just Served us Nine Pickles”, or “My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets.”
Example of an Anatomy Mnemonic- “A Peaceful Thoughtful Man” for Aortic, Pulmonary, Tricuspid, and Mitral.
Flash Cards-Are great for kinetic learners, the energy required to make them, plus the active engagement of reading them out load will help you retain the information at a faster pace. However, in order for flash cards to work they must be read out loud daily, at least seven days before your
A successful student is always prepared for any planned event which he or she is attending. I think I exemplified this whenever I went to clinicals, because I believe one is not able to have a successful
Technical 23- (use as needed) I agree with this completely. I typically find I work better with writing down things. The best way I study for tests or memorizing things is to repeatedly write it down. For, example I had to study a book to take a test. I went through that book and copied it word for word two or three times. This is just how studying works for me.
College isn’t like high school where you could just be happy all the time hoping that you’ll wing it to be successful or to barely pass your classes to graduate. What is success or how can I be successful? That’s the question I asked myself on the first day of college. Success in college is the main goal of college students, but finding it is another subject. Most students think that to be successful in college is to get good grades, which is true. But the question is how you will attain that. There are a lot of ways to accomplish your goals and come out on top.
Mr. Douglas Enclosed in the following are five techniques that you may want to consider using to help you improve your memory.  Finding a reason to remember  Be selective in about what you learn  Organize your information  Mnemonics  Rehearse information through recitation First, finding a reason to remember is very important. If you have a reason to remember information you just learned, then you have a better chance of holding on to it. For example, let’s say a person has trouble with his/her multiplication tables. And the person loves to lift weights. The teacher would use the information form math and apply it to the weight lifting. Such as 5 x 5=25, and lifting five pounds five time is a total of twenty-five pounds. You see this comparison makes the student learn it better because he/she can use it in more ways than one. This technique has helped me the most when I was learning about percentages in math. I could not quiet get the hang of it, so the teacher applied it to how much money would one save if a $50.00 shirt was 20% off. This gave me the motivation to learn it. Second, you should be selective in what you learn. You only want to learn the main ideas and leave the supporting material alone. Doing this should make you memorize the information in a shorter amount of time. For example, if you were trying to study Biology, and there is a lot of it just remember the bold face type ...
Success, it can be interpreted in many ways to different people. According to Google success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, for me success is that amazing feeling you obtain when you know you’ve completed something you’ve been working so hard for. Self-esteem is the main key to reaching success and is necessary to even get started on your way to triumph. Self-esteem is important because it develops problem-solving skills, makes someone feel confident enough to do anything, and also because it can make someone feel insecure enough to stop them from succeeding.
Successful is a simple word, however, the meaning of this word changes quite often. Each person has a different definition of success and that definition can change depending on the situation. Bob Dylan once wrote, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” This a very broad definition of success and should not be used. The definition of success should be “the pursued goals have been adequately accomplished.”
(Women’s Health Advisor, 2016). Hence, it is necessary to keep brain abilities with a good memory. To prevent losing forgetting and improving memory, it is needed to organize the information skillfully. Gathering related ideas with keywords for review and well-summarized class notes and chapters can be called the effective organization. Likewise, mnemonics can be used same ways like a using associated memory with mental images or songs. A number of memories are already in LTM. Therefore, making links with memories from LTM boosts to learning. Moreover, overlearning stimulates the brain and its memory capacity. In addition, having some proper rest between different studying subjects is spaced practice. Lastly, Recitation is repeating information to help go through STM to LTM; it is effective to learning when reading a book
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
I’ve tried note cards and memory games, I’ve tried reading a word or phrase over and over again. None of them worked. There has been one thing that truly helped me remember things for tests, I had to write the word over and over at least five times. I would highly recommend that you try this if nothing else does. While you’re taking notes I would recommend that you right in the examples with the notes, they will help you in the long run because I guarantee you won’t remember their practical use unless you’re using it constantly. It has been said that my learning style is recommended to use charts and graphs to study too, I personally can’t use charts and graphs mostly because I can’t draw them that quickly. If you’re like me while studying, then you should listen to music and take breaks every once and
There are three types of learning styles. They are: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. An auditory learner processes information by hearing and discussing the information. Visual learners process information through visuals such as charts, pictures, and other types of printed information. Kinesthetic learners process information by muscle movements and experiences that are hands-on. Through the assessment I have discovered that my strongest learning style is a visual style with a score of 13, followed by kinesthetic, 8, and lastly auditory with a score of 4. Based upon this, my strength is using a visual learning style. The things I do now in studying that are within the guidelines include: read the book chapters and highlight while reading, pay special attention to charts and diagrams shown in the book or in class. By reading and highlighting I have found I can quickly go back through the information and reread the important facts, helping me remember them better. The more times I go over the information, the more effective I am come test day. I have found it very easy to read charts and diagrams in textbooks. Generally, by being able to read certain charts, it is much easier and faster to comprehend the information than if I was to read the paragraphs about it. A new study strategy that I will implement will include: writing what I highlight down into my own handwriting, adding ...
I seem to learn better when I constantly read over the material I am studying. This allows the material to constantly be running in my mind. I am a person who will read or hear something and it usually sticks with me. I really haven 't had to study for long periods of time, because I usually remember the topic of what were being tested on pretty easily. I have also learned that I am more of a hands on person. I can learn things very quickly by putting them into action. Somehow that makes it click in my mind and helps me learn it. Mainly the study habits I can improve on is procrastination. This is usually hurts me the most. I will wait
Every 26 seconds one of our kids drops out of high school, that's 1.3 million students each year. The main reason for dropping out, the failure to succeed. The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
Learning is going beyond retaining and recalling information. One must do several things to ensure that he or she is being an effective learner, to ensure that the student is learning at their full potential. Students must learn to read, write, and think critically. Reading critical is more than just reading a book. Students must ask them self, “What do I know what will be the message, and what will I learn? The student should be able to read between the lines and discover inferences. In order to write critically one must have a good understanding of the subject matter. In addition, they must convey their responses in a clear and concise manner. In this way they will leave little doubt in the reader’s mind as to where they stand. In addition, the student should take notes on what he or she is reading. if there are any. My idea of learning has changed. I used to just try and recall info for tests in high school or at work. I know now that this is not practical and more is required of me. Using my new found knowledge
