Successful is a simple word, however, the meaning of this word changes quite often. Each person has a different definition of success and that definition can change depending on the situation. Bob Dylan once wrote, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” This a very broad definition of success and should not be used. The definition of success should be “the pursued goals have been adequately accomplished.” According to Dylan, anyone can be successful. In a way this is true, but just waking up every morning, doing what you please, and then going to bed a night, will not make a person successful. Imagine a world where people did as they pleased. This world may appear calm and happy at first. This view will change once the people realize they are not meeting certain needs or supplies disappear. With people doing as they please, there would be no one going into work everyday to create the millions of materials humans use each day. Factories would be forced to shut down and then the supply chain would simply stop altogether. …show more content…
In order to truly be successful, a person must know their limits. Everything is better taken into moderation. Moderation allows a person to work hard to be successful financially, socially, and physically, along with having time to do the things they want. This is where the idealistic quote from Bob Dylan comes into play. People need to set aside time in their week to relax and have fun. This will give them a break from the seemingly unending stress that comes along with being successful. Deadlines at work, relationships that make a person question if it is even worth it anymore, and watching calories just to be in an ideal weight range. If a person gives themselves free-time to do whatever they please, they will discover happiness. After all, is success worth it if the path to being successful makes a person
Success can be an extremely broad subject. There is an abounding amount of different views on what the “true” definition of success is. Personally, I believe that success is finding happiness. Success is waking up in the morning and not having to worry about whether or not the bills are going to be paid this month. Success is having a job that you enjoy going to every day. Success is having friends and family who love and support you. Success does not mean that one has to be exceedingly rich or have a lakeside mansion. As long as they are happy, they have succeeded in life.
While everyone says they want to be successful, few of them are willing to pay the price to become successful, as they all fear failure, while in reality fear of failure is failure itself. The things that one might lose while trying to become successful ,like family and friends, is outdone when success becomes a reality. As family and friends might not see the obsession of becoming successful in the thing that one might desire. They are okay with being mediocre, not changing anything on this earth, turning back to dust when they die. Therefore they are blind, unable to see what would make one want to become successful. Not taking into consideration the amount of effort and sacrifices it takes for one to achieve personal success.
The definition of success can be different for everyone based on how they percieve the term. To me, success is doing all you can do to try to come out on top. A scenario of this would be during a basketball match, your team is down by 12 points, everyone is running the fastest they can, shooting as accurate as they can, and supporting one another
