After re watching my own presentation I have noticed many different things that I didn’t think of or notice when I was originally presenting it. While watching it some of the things that I think I did well on where first my talking. This is something that I know I did better on because I did my presentation a little different from everyone else. Another thing that I think worked well for my presentation was the word to picture ratio. I felt like I did a good job not putting my entire script on the screen but enough to give the class a good summery about what I was talking about. I could have tried to make ti so that when I was done I could have tied the whole analogy together and made it connect to all the skills that I said I have improved on. For showing my progress as a learner I think the way that I presented was one of the main things that showed some of my progress making it so that you could actually here me when I was giving my presentation which is something that has always been a problem when I have to talk in front of people. I also think that even though at the end of my presentation I didn’t obviously say my over all opinion about how I have improved I thought my evidence that I had given through out the presentation worked well with the points that I was trying to say I improved on. Along with making sure that what I was comparing it to was very specific so that people didn’t start to think of another part of the project that I was using that I might to have improved on confusing them. I think the project that most impacted me as a learner was the memorial project. This projected made me grow as a learner because I had to work with someone that I had never worked with before. When we started just getting a topic that we both wanted to do was the first thing that made me realize that this project was going make me need to use and learn some new skills. My partner and I had some trouble with trying to come up with a design to show everything we wanted to show for our topic. We had to be patient with each other making sure the we both listing to each other and understanding what and why they wanted to do this. We also has some trouble with communication because we didn’t completely understand what the other wanted making ti hard to finalize our design. Another thing with communication was who was doing what my partner didn’t always know what to do so we would sometimes end up wasting time trying to find something for her to do that she wanted to do. Communicating was something that I really improved on for this project teaching me how to be more specific with what I say so that we don’t get confused later. Over all I think that this memorial project as the one that made me use more of the learner profile skills then any other and helped me improve one one as
For my passion project I made cookies, but not just any cookies, I made cotton candy cookie. There were many ups and a downs while making these cookies, but they all payed off in the end. I learned many things during this passion project. For example I learned why I wanted to make these cookies, I made three of my own recipes and learned some really cool facts!

I did this by making sure that I added clear pictures, had a legible font, and nice colors to catch their attention. I wanted to make sure that my slides had the right amount words for the students to read. I knew that they would lose interest in my presentation if I added large paragraphs or had too many words to my presentation. I had a total of twelve slides. I read over my slides multiple times to make sure that everything was correct. The project I chose to do was hovercrafts. Hovercrafts are a mode of transport which is not very popular yet but, I think they are extremely interesting.
I was really able to identify my self-learning skills during my grand rounds presentation. I believe I could have done better with time management, and the overall delivery of presenting the information.
The group couldn't seem to find time for us to meet and plan our presentation, the first and only time all group members were present to work on the presentation was on the morning of the presentation. We worked on it and at the time I believed we had agreed on our final product, I personally felt all the slides needed at this point was editing and final touches to make it visually appealing for the audience. I went online to the google presentation we were using as a group to prepare our presentation and was surprised to see a different layout, additional slides, and contents which were different from what we as a group had worked on and approved as the final work we were going to present. I confronted the group members as to the changes on the slides and we had a conflict of what our
For my main Project 11, I volunteered as a tutor at Rowland Hall. I tutored three students and I helped with multiple subjects, including science, math, English, and American studies. Each day, I would help my students complete their homework, work on papers, study for tests, or understand concepts. This experience was important to me because I could tell I was helping these kids learn and perform better in their schoolwork. I was interested in this project because I wanted to directly have an impact on my community.
When assessing my current writing ability, I recognize my ability to efficiently relay a message; however, I struggle with using strong phrases and advanced writing. When I begin drafting a paper, translating my thoughts and ideas into words comes naturally, and I do not get lost in the process. As mentioned previously, the general areas that need improvement include using strong vocabulary to convey a professional level of writing. Also, I believe that I need to work on transition phrases between ideas.
Making a successful public presentation or speech to an audience was a very big task for me before I joined the public speaking class. I was always frightened and very nervous. Since then I now understand the process of making a speech or a presentation including coming up with a topic and from this topic develop the main points of the speech, research, organize my points, revise them, edit and make a magnificent presentation to any audience. People in the audience might sometimes agree or disagree with my opinion or points, it was therefore necessary to communicate my information clearly to the audience without making any judgments since every person was entitled to a different opinion and views about things.
Coming into speech class, I mentally and physically prepared myself for what was in store. I never really like giving speeches, especially impromptu speeches. Signing up for speech was hard for me to do because I absolutely did not want to take it and was considering not taking it in high school and wishing that I would never have to take it. My fears for COMM 101 was being judged. I am not really one to care about what people think about me, but something about public speaking gives me a fear that people will judge me if I stutter or not be able to complete a speech. I just wanted to do my best in this class and just breeze through this class and get it over with. Getting up in front of the class for my first speech, was petrifying for me
Practice is a major role that needs to be played when it comes to presenting. Practicing, I feel gives you more confidence in your speech, and more preparation than if you were to not practice. Rehearsing before the speech then presenting makes you seem like you actually know what you are talking about even if the only reason you know all these facts is because of study and practicing. Practicing through my speech really helps me with my presentation, if I practice enough, I feel very confident to where I wouldn’t need t a paper to look at notes during the speech. This concept is important for anything. Practicing will always help you with any future task.
During this College Composition course, I came across numerous obstacles and educational involvements. Every factor of this course contributed to my overall learning experience. For starters, we often read out of our textbooks, “The Little Seagull Handbook” and “They Say I Say”. These books helped showcase proper writing techniques. In addition, we would have class discussions that everyone would participate in. This opened my eyes to different viewpoints that could influence my writing. I recall one class we had a debate over a topic and everyone had to choose a side to argue. Then when we wrote argument essays, even though they were on a different topic, it helped me view my topic in different ways. Lastly, the most helpful to my writing was peer review. We were told to read our paper out loud to our partner. Although personally I am quiet and dislike reading out loud, I found this very helpful. Instantly, my partner and I could find grammar mistakes that one may not pick up on while reading silently. Then we could also talk about other possible revisions for my paper. For every paper, we would have conferences with the professor. This was effective as well to have a professional giving corrections and ideas. When we would get back our graded rubrics on the assignments we completed, the instructor would leave comments to

It is not everyday when you can say the majority of your college class is you talking and the teacher listening, this is seminar. Coming from a family where heated debates were present almost daily, I already know if I were passionate about a topic I would never pass up an opportunity to express my opinions. For me, seminar has allowed me to grow in this confidence of expressing my thoughts as well as learning from others opinions. Having come from a high school that stressed the importance of student participation, I was not surprised by the amount I would actually have to speak in this class, however I was surprised by the importance of disagreements and the proper way to analyze text through underlining, highlighting and questioning and how it could aid my overall understanding of a text. Being a psychology major and extremely interested in social justice issues, seminar also opened my eyes up to the interesting perspectives of the strength of human nature.
