When it comes to the physical aspect of someone’s state of wellness, it means that there is an overall being in top condition. Physical wellness includes exercising and eating right. Emotions play a big part on somebody’s state of wellness. It’s essential to recognize that being able to harness the right kind of emotions means that you are the right path to emotional wellness. I recognize that feelings such as stress and anger take a lot out of me. It will literally drain me of emotion. Even crying at times, will make me feel tired. And I realize that it’s good to be aware of this. It also makes me realize that I have no desire to feel that way. I find that concentrating on the positive side of things will help me mentally as a person. If I constantly would have a negative outlook, then then would drain me from all my energy and it would turn me into a horrible person. I tend to also recognize how much better my life is if I just simply have a positive outlook and to not let the small things get me down. I realize you can’t be happy all the time and that sometimes you just need to break down only you so you can come back a stronger person. It’s all about persevering and getting through all the trials and tribulations in your life. If you can find a way to hone in your emotions and utilize them, then you can reach the sense of wellness. My plan is to continue to on my path of emotional wellness by not taking things to seriously, to remember to breathe, to always continue to look at the glass half full, and that laughter is the best
Happiness, like food and water, has been made a necessity for life by people throughout the years. It has gotten to
First is physical wellness. Physical wellness is when an individual choose the legitimate way of being healthy and understand what are acceptable
Wellness is imperative to a healthy life. Sometimes, people do not really consider what makes up wellness, they simply think of it as being “well”. Wellness may be a state of being “well”, however, it incorporates different areas such as nutrition, health, safety, nurturing, and emotional stability. People must be healthy in all of these areas in order to achieve wellness. This is not an easy task for an adult, but definitely not for children.
What is wellness? “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy life. Wellness is also a process for change and growth” (Health Topic – What is wellness?). To have acceptable wellness you should have an equal amount of social, emotional/mental, and physical health. I, myself, believe that I have an okay wellness, I mean not like full wellness but just enough to pass I'll say. But how am I living in wellness?
The definitions of wellness root all the way back to 2000 B.C with Aristotle. He was the first person to document about wellness as an explanation of health and illness. Whereas Descartes and others saw wellness as more of duality of the mind body, which gave way to current mindset of a more rounded definition of wellness (Myers and Sweeney, 2008). Now, Myers defines wellness as the mind, body and spirit working together to achieve an optimum state of health and wellbeing so that one can live life as full as possible (Myers and Sweeney, 2005). Along with briefly examining a specific model of wellness, its aim and application,
Diet, Exercise, Rest, Safety, and Health Support are five categories that can greatly shape a person. By realizing your current situation and finding a solution to any problem that arises, you will succeed in life. That is why creating a health and wellness plan is vital to your future.
The first of the six dimensions is physical wellness, which is your body’s overall wellness. This includes the absence of illness and disease and your body’s fitness level. You have to make good, healthy choices to be physically well. Eating healthy, exercising, and seeing a doctor on a regular basis for check-ups are all conducive to physical wellness. Some good examples of people who have achieved physical wellness are; Lance Armstrong and the Venus and Serena Williams.
My wellness philosophy is simple, wellness is more than just your health and how much you exercise. For me it includes my emotional, spiritual, nutritional, intellectual, and social well being. To me being well means I am content with every aspect of who I am, for instance, how I look, how I act, who I am around, and everything inbetween. This verse really helps me when I am struggling with emotional wellness. It says that a peaceful heart leads to a healthy body Proverbs 14:30 (NLT) I also believe that wellness is a constant ever changing thing. You don’t just randomly decide to be well and never go back to feeling or being unwell, it’s an up and down roller coaster and takes time. I believe that even once you reach the well point, you can
When thinking of my overall health, a few aspects stand out that I think I could definitely improve on. When I think my current personal wellness I think it is fairly decent. There are definitely people out there far worse than myself. It could be better because there is always room for improvement. I’m a big fan of personal growth. To me if a person decides to stop growing or wanting to better themselves either mentally, physically or emotiontally. Then whats the real purpose for living? I am a fairly active person. I love to hike, stay fit and eat healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t hard for me which I think definitely contributes to a wellness.

Health is described as physical and mental well-being and freedom from disease, pain or defect. However, such descriptions only superficially define the actual meaning of health. There may be many occasions when individuals are not necessarily ill or in pain but may be overweight, stressed or emotionally unstable. Health is a quality of life involving dynamic interaction and interdependence among the individual’s physical state, their mental and emotional reactions, and the social context in which the individual exists. There are many factors that influence your health, but three major components contribute to general well-being: Self-awareness, a balanced diet and, regular physical activity.
According to the text, wellness is defined as an "integrated and dynamic level of functioning oriented toward maximizing potential, dependent on self-responsibility." It involves both preventive health behaviors and a shift in thinking and attitude. Wellness is a lifelong promise to oneself of growth and achievement in each of the seven dimensions: emotional, spiritual, physical, occupational, intellectual, environmental, and social. It means a lifetime of ongoing change and always striving toward higher levels healthy and successful living. This means, ultimately, that one must live a life that caters to each of those dimensions both individually and collectively. Not to mention, the onset of major chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer.
