My Philosophy Of Wellness

My wellness philosophy is simple, wellness is more than just your health and how much you exercise. For me it includes my emotional, spiritual, nutritional, intellectual, and social well being. To me being well means I am content with every aspect of who I am, for instance, how I look, how I act, who I am around, and everything inbetween. This verse really helps me when I am struggling with emotional wellness. It says that a peaceful heart leads to a healthy body Proverbs 14:30 (NLT) I also believe that wellness is a constant ever changing thing. You don’t just randomly decide to be well and never go back to feeling or being unwell, it’s an up and down roller coaster and takes time. My last two years of high school I really wanted to get to know and become friends with people who were different than me in the way they looked, acted, their religion, or just their morals. I am a total people person and love figuring out why people are the way they are and so I loved getting to do that and understand people’s backstories. I am a firm believer of not making any conclusions about people until you actually get to know them and this helped a lot. I feel for me getting to know and becoming friends with people who are not like me really helped my social health and me become more loving and understanding, as well as who I am and what I stand for. On my own in college I have also had to learn how to eat healthy without my mom buying and cooking all of my foods. In that project one of the topics to address was the overlapping of the components and I was able to see how a lot of the things I enjoy doing and do often involve multiple components. Like I mentioned earlier, I am a total people person and am practically never alone. My my bestfriend and I enjoy going on nightly runs where we talk about our days and crazy lives. For me running is a stress relief, which ties to emotional health, I also get to talk to my friend which ties to social wellness, and lastly we are working out which ties to physical health. Another example of when my components of wellness overlap is when I am studying. Kallie and I are in the same classes so we study together everyday. We usually cook dinner before, and eat fruit during which includes social, nutritional and intellectual wellness. Whenever we get tired we go out to the Lunsford and walk laps while studying quizlet because a psychology experiment proved that your mind works better and remembers more when you're doing physical activity. This ties in physical wellness and intellectual, along with social. These are just two of the many examples of how my wellness components
