Animation is the technique of photographing successive drawings, positions of puppets, or even models to create an illusion of movement when the pictures are manipulated at certain speeds. The people behind these manipulations are called animators. They work with things from animated commercials, like M&M, Geico and Chips Ahoy, to big hit movies, like Sing, The Lion King and Up. There are two different types of animation, 2D and 3D animation, which have different processes of making their final product. 2D animation is the traditional animation method that has existed since the late 1800s. It focuses on creating characters, storyboards and backgrounds in 2D environment. Figures that were often thought of as conventional animation can be moved …show more content…

Most of today's 2D animation uses computer software to some extent, not only coloring the cells to be shot in the conventional way digitally, but also processing all the elements in the computer. These animations can be used in advertisements, movies, TV shows, computer games, or websites. 2D animators focus on creating transitions of characters, backgrounds, scenes and contemplating creative ideas and concepts. The obligation of 2D animators is to design and produce images. These jobs include producing special effects and action graphics, creating frames and characters, designing advertisements and websites, inking and coloring. Advantages for using 2D animation are the production lead time for it is low and quicker to produce, low production cost , 2D is easy to handle without any tutorials, it gives less importance to design and focuses more on the game play, it involves less technology and software, which makes 2D easier to produce when compared to 3D and 2D animation is cheaper when compared to 3D animation. The highest form of education required for becoming a 2D animator is a bachelor’s degree. 2D animators work, at average, about 35 to 40 hours a week. However, these hours may …show more content…

While 2D animation is hand drawn with subtle changes from its previous one then put in a sequences to creates the illusion of movement, 3D animation uses computers to help create the sense of motion. The procedure of 3D generation falls into three main sections: layout and animation, modeling and rendering. First, a layout artist would begin to break 2D storyboards into 3D shots. They refer to the production designs and models to build location scenes and important props, to position the characters and camera angles and movements they would like inserted into the game. The layout artist are responsible for staging all the shots, plotting the actions taken within each scene, and also making sure the voiceovers and musical soundtrack mingle with the images correctly. It is up to the layout artists to determine how long the scene shall be. After finishing drawing the layouts, the animators begin to start modeling the scene. Modeling is the phase that describes the procedure of generating 3D objects within a certain scene. In modeling, animators first start off with a simple object, called a primitive, and begin to mold it to a shape where it can be improved and detailed. The most common modeling used is box modeling, which they
