Hayao Miyazaki
Hayao Miyazaki has been revolutionary in Japanese animation. A mangaka (an artist/writer/creator of manga, Japanese comics), an animator, and storyteller, Miyazaki has not only been very successful in his work, well known and loved by many, but has changed the world of anime with his unique style of drawing. Through passion and hard work, Miyazaki has become one of the most successful animators in all of Japan.
Miyazaki was born on January 5th, 1941, in Tokyo, Japan (MUBI.com). His father, Katsuji Miyazaki, was the director and owner of their family’s firm, Miyazaki Airplane, that made parts for Zero fighter planes. His father’s job contributed to his fascination with flying, and accurately depicting it in his animation (U.X.L Graphic Novelists vol. 2: 344-345). His mother, Dola Miyazaki had spinal tuberculosis, and was bedridden for eight years, passing away at the age of 71 in 1980 (Telecom). She was very influential to him, parts of her personality (strong and irrepressible) in characters in My Neighbor Totoro and Castle In The Sky, among others. As a child, Miyazaki was always fascinated with drawing, mostly airplanes- drawing people didn’t come as easily (Telecom). At three years old he and his family were evacuated to safer areas during World War II, starting school in 1947 as an evacuee. They weren’t able to move back to their old home until 1950. War and bombings does not make for a happy three year old, and so he has few happy childhood memories, which is why it is really amazing that he has made such happy and beautiful movies for people everywhere . In Charles Whipple’s essay, The Power Of Positive Thinking, Miyazaki told him, “I’ve forgotten much. I made up my mind to forget. There were too many thing...

He has achieved many things in his career, countess awards and fans, and has made big impacts in the world of animation. Not only did his style influence the more realistic anime style today, but the success of Nausicaa made anime much more respected by many people. Also, Princess Mononoke became the highest grossing Japanese film in Japans history in 1997. But, the achievement he probably values and is proud of most is the impact he has made on the children and viewers of all ages who see his works. Through hard work and with a passion for what he does, Hayao Miyazaki has truly become one of the most successful animators in all of Japan.

Some of these animations add visuals when a complex idea is being described, such as the idea of the ‘lemon dance” or the ‘rubber room’ in New York. Guggenheim also takes the idea of tenure and uses these techniques to twist tenure into somethi...
Spielberg was born in Cincinnati on December 18th, 1946. His father was an electrical engineer, and his mother a concert pianist. Steven seemed to get the best elements from both of them. Spielberg had an early fascination with cinema and began making amateur films at a very young age. At 13, he won a local contest for his 40-minute film, Escape to Nowhere. Ironically, Steven was unable to get into a film school, so he settled for majoring in English Literature at California State University. After graduation, he set out to Hollywood, where he was determined to be successful. In 1974, he received his first break for The Sugarland Express. The film went on to win a Cannes Film Festival Award for best screenplay. The following year saw JAWS explode. This very successful horror film, depicting a man-eating shark, captured the attention of the world and has become part of contemporary pop culture. The movie was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars and won several Oscars for technical categories and for its very distinctive score.
He is credited for being a pioneer in the visual effects realm of the filmmaking world. In his lifetime, he won three Oscars for his effect-based achievements.

After finding its definite drawing style through the intensive study of the French animated film Le Roi et L 'oiseau (the King and the Mockingbird) by Paul Grimault in the early 80 's, Miyazaki wrote, drew and directed his second full feature film as if it would be his last. The result is an extremely ambitious movie that first introduced Hayao Miyazaki to the world and opened a new era for animation.
Amano had many major accomplishments, mainly from working in Character Design. He worked on every one of the Final Fantasy games up until today. Another major accomplishment, in my mind, was that he was technically the creator (co-wrote) the animated movie Angel's Egg. The movie was based off of his style of art, as well as him co-writing it. The movie Angel's Egg is by far one of my favorite visually pleasing
The use of techniques and strategies in animation is significant as it greatly emphasizes the overall message of the film, and most importantly it allows the audience to understand and identify the film in their own individual perspective. All techniques used in animation films have potential in their own distinctive ways. Films such as ‘200,000 Phantoms/ Nijuman No Borei’ (2007), ‘Philips Broadcast of 1938’ (1938), ‘Uncle’ (1996), ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ (1940), ‘Felix in Hollywood’ (1923), ‘Billy’s Balloon’ (1998), ‘Mt. Head/ Atama Yama’ (2003) and ‘Simonova Sand Performance’ (2009) demonstrates a variety of techniques and strategies in the most effective ways. In some of the films, there are techniques and strategies used that are similar and some that are very different, nevertheless each are unique in their respective ways. We will explore the techniques used in these films, including its historical or contemporary context based on the methods of production used and the cultural environment from which they arose. We will also see how the films contrast from each other.
Miyazaki is well known creating well-developed characters and Princess Mononoke is a good example showing these qualities along with a strong message on environmentalism and an underlying theme of feminism.
There are few who have had as enormous an impact on our culture and entertainment as Walt Disney. As co-creator of Mickey Mouse he helped to create the most popular and well-known cartoon character in the world. As the founder of Walt Disney Studios, he was an artist who changed animation and film-making forever and has been delighting and inspiring audiences for nearly 100 years. And, of course, when he brought us Disneyland he created a place unlike any other, one that still thrills the imaginations of children and adults today.
The success of the film led to the establishment of a new animation studio, Studio Ghibli, at which Miyazaki has directed, written, and produced many other films with Takahata and recently with Toshio Suzuki. All of his films were enjoyed and successful. Especially Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke it was the highest profit domestic film in Japan's history at the time of its release. And was the first animated film to win Picture of the Year at the Japanese Academy Awards. Later during his period of semi-retirement in 2001, Miyazaki spent time with the daughters of his friend. They would later become his inspiration for his next film which would become one of his biggest commerci...

This set into motion his friendship with Isao Takahata, who would continue working with Miyazaki and eventually found Studio Ghibli alongside him. After several years of co-direction and first roles as a solo director, Miyazaki worked on Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, the project that gave him the ability to finally form Studio Ghibli with Takahata (Miller).
