Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society that provides grants to students aiming to receive Associate’s degree at either two-year colleges or four-year universities. Collaborating with Phi Theta Kappa honor society, Marymount California University offered me to consider joining this program in early December 2015 because I had a volunteering experience and met the cumulative grade point average of 3.3 in a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 60 college-level units. However, unfortunately, I was not eligible to apply for this program that far due to my inappropriate English language class standing. Nevertheless, since I still maintain the necessary requirements for joining Phi Theta Kappa honor society, Marymount California University informed me in November 2015 that I am eligible to apply for the program again next year. The deadline for applying is in February 2016; thus, I will enter Phi Theta Kappa honor society after February 2016.
Dean’s List is a scholarly achievement at Marymount California University. Since I maintain high overall grade point average, I have been named to the Dean’s List of the highest distinction for academic achievement at Marymount California University. In order to earn and keep this recognition, I had to obtain a 3.9 grade point average or better and complete 12 or more college-level units in each semester. The

First-Class Sportsman equates to regional champion title. The title is awarded only on the official championships. I am writing to express my strong interest in being a member of Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi. I am currently a sophomore at Syracuse University, and will be graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Global Political Economy.
I am seeking membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to be a part of a sisterhood that leads and serves. I would love to join a sisterhood that serves the community, promotes academic achievement and builds self-esteem in students of all walks of life from primary to adulthood. In addition, I wish to expand my public service through educational development. As an educator, serving children and families through toy drives and youth mentorships would afford me countless opportunities to give back beyond the walls of my classroom, dance stage, and church. With my dedication, compassion, and creativity, I know I will work diligently to produce a strong impact on the sorority’s current programs and aid to create new
Some of my extracurricular activities include Science Olympiad, STEM Academy, International Club, Advanced Academics Club, and Chem Club. During high school I have participated in various community-based organizations, the two most common being Beta Club and National Honor Society. However while these clubs have allowed me to give back to my community in numerous ways, it was strangely not either of these clubs that expanded my interest in the following particular social issue. Rather it was my involvement in Science Olympiad, specifically volunteering to help run a local Elementary school tournament, that expanded my view of the STEM field.
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...
If granted the opportunity to become a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. I expected to become a better man once finishing the member in take process. I expect to become more hands on in different charity events that I’m not familiar with. The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha is to promote sisterhood in colleges to assure a bond between college women, and the sorority leads by being an example for other college women to follow. Alpha Kappa Alpha also promotes higher education and positive self-esteem to younger women. Alpha Kappa Alpha also gives back to the community in community service that could range from educating our women on relevant topics to just lending a hand in the community. I want to contribute to this purpose at Mississippi State University and back in my hometown.
“If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.” (Maya Angelou) To me success is not measured solely by your financial wealth and career achievements, but by genuinely helping others reach their fullest potential in life. Uplifting young women and encouraging them to follow their dreams is something I strive for day to day. A woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated displays leadership, commitment, high scholastic and ethical standards, which are all qualities that I possess.
I have been in this school since kindergarden. I have been here long enough to see our school win the state title for football and I”ve also seen our school locked down. There is the good and the ugly in every story, and what side you choose to pick will make your life easier or a very long road to glory.
It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of
To be a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to be resilient, poise, and gracious. To be a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to be an inspiration to others through your actions. To be a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to be of service to all mankind.
Walking into college, I always wanted to join a brotherhood. But, it was hard to find the one for me at first. After striking out on a few other fraternities at SEMO, I didn’t know if Greek Life was for me. But after talking one night with Brian Smith, I would give my one last shot to Sigma Nu. Looking back, I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. Over the past few months I have grown into a better person and have achieved goals I wouldn’t have even thought about being able to achieve. Looking back throughout my candidate process I can say I have strived for Love, Truth, and Honor.
I wish to take the time to give thanks for this impeccable opportunity in applying for the highly sought after National Honor Society. I have been looking forward to embarking on this journey since I heard about this organization freshman year. I am truly elated to be one of the many students that qualifies, as I know the standards of excellence and character that must be exemplified and met.
“Leadership, dreams, scholarships, service, pride and character”, the first words that come to mind when I hear “National Honor Society”. Being chosen for National Honor Society is a great honor, as it has proved that from my childhood till now my hard work has paid off. From the beginning of high school, as a freshman to now a junior, I have always pushed myself to do better, but not better than others, better than myself. I had competition with myself and my past grades, as I emboldened myself to do better than each of my past marking period grades. I heartened myself to get stronger grades, because since the day I found out in freshman year that there was National Honor Society I was determined to get in. The day of my sister’s graduation
If I am chosen as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I will work hard to uphold the reputation and exceed the standards that those before me have set. I believe becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. means joining a group of highly educated women that together I believe are capable of facilitating the type of change that is imperative in today’s society. It is my hope that I will be accepted as a member and be afforded the opportunity to take part in that change. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my request to join your
Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. has played a large part in my life in a short amount of time; this organization has granted me the opportunity to attend college through a scholarship. The scholarship that I was granted was through the alumni chapter in Fayetteville; it required letters of recommendations, a transcript, an application, and an essay on what I believe “Achievement in every field of human endeavor” means. Once I received the call that was telling me to meet the representative to receive a letter stating whether I received the scholarship. When I opened the letter, two tickets fell out for the Kappa Scholarship ball, and when I read the letter, it stated that I have been picked to receive the scholarship from Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. The weekend of the scholarship ball, my mother planned a graduation trip for a couple of friends of mine and I to go Myrtle Beach. So the day of the scholarship ball, I drove from Myrtle Beach to Fayetteville to attend the scholarship ball; once I arrived at the ball, I was greeted by many men of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. When I sat down at the table that they reserved for me and the three other scholarship awardees, I was approached by many men of the fraternity. That night was very spectacular and eventful; the men who had presented me scholarship seemed down to earth, sociable guys. They treated me with so much respect, and talked to me about how I see my future and told me what I could do to be a successful African-American in today’s society. These men set an example of accomplishment and in the short time that we had together, they instilled in me that I should never be content with where I am and I can always do better as long as I have the mind set of an achiever. Without this scholarship, I ...
