I wish to take the time to give thanks for this impeccable opportunity in applying for the highly sought after National Honor Society. I have been looking forward to embarking on this journey since I heard about this organization freshman year. I am truly elated to be one of the many students that qualifies, as I know the standards of excellence and character that must be exemplified and met.
Being a member of NHS would be an absolute honor, as it is something I’ve always looked forward to. I was absolutely ecstatic to find an organization believing in the bettering of society through means of academia, leadership, and character, as these are the things I find most important in my life. My education is my highest priority, and I take it very seriously. I have always valued my academic integrity, and to be

apart of an organization where I get to express the triumphs of it, would mean the world. I believe in being a well-rounded student, and NHS would help me achieve my full potential in this realm by giving me that extra push to really commit to doing all that I can in my community. I have an insatiable desire to continue to grow as a person, develop a strong character, and gain more leadership opportunities. Therefore, surrounding myself with people that withhold the same goals would promote a positive, encouraging environment achieve my own goals. With the knowledge that NHS requires volunteer service hours, I feel that this is ideal for me, as I am always trying to devote more time to helping others and volunteering.
As a part of the Lakeland chapter of NHS, I can contribute to the four core values of the organization: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

My contribution to the scholarship aspect will come from my maintaining my high GPA. As well as, continuing to grow my commitment to learning by being eager to do my best academically. Contributing to leadership, I will step out to aid others. I shall lead by example, promoting a well-rounded influence on my surrounding peers. I desire to become more involved with leadership roles, and strive to create more opportunities to lead and be responsible for myself. As for character, I will uphold my moral standards, maintain a positive attitude and demeanor towards others, be encouraging to those around me, and remain honest and hardworking. Lastly, for service I will continue to devote time into volunteering and providing help for those who need it in my surrounding community. I’d be able to find a suitable medium to taking on the extra commitment of NHS. Most of the activities I do outside school would be continued, but they would now be done under the values of NHS, such as my extracurriculars and service

hours.
In being a part of NHS, I will promote a positive image of NHS inside the walls of Lakeland, as well as the community. I shall be respectful to others, honest, and diligent. The standards of National Honor Society will be upheld inside and outside of school. I will encourage others to reach their maximum potential, be courteous to others, and promote the four core values to those around me. It is my intent to represent NHS in an appropriate manner, and continue to comply by the rules and regulations of Lakeland High School.
