The purpose of this letter is to inform you about my interest in becoming a member of The Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I sought out membership because the members exemplify the epitome of class, grace, and standards. My desire is to inspire young girls and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. I believe in being of service, giving back to the community, and I want to continue on for years to come. Going into the transition into my college career from my freshman year until now, I have encountered many women in the organization that are very active on campus as well as in the community. My past experiences with my past and previous organizations have proved that once my feet are planted my roots will grow and I will stand firm in an organization or committee that I am apart of exemplifying my leadership skills. I am a dedicated member of the National Council of Negro Women. I am on the Bethune Committee, we focus on creating Health programs for the organization and the community. I am a Mentor with the Valdosta community organization G.O.L.F.E.R. (Generating Opportunities in Life for Each …show more content…
Resident), this program creates opportunities for the children at Hudson Dockett by teaching them how to play golf and learn how to educate themselves on different scholarships and gain knowledge on the things affecting the Valdosta community. I am the Treasurer and Public Relation chair for Students of American Red Cross, we have raised money for disasters and continue to volunteer throughout the community. I also, volunteer in the community of Valdosta outside of my organization involvement. I volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club, The Haven, and LAMP. I believe that I have a lot to offer to your organization both in terms of my desire to be a positive influence in the lives of others and with my personal strengths as a leader and a mentor.
If I am chosen as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I will work hard to uphold the reputation and exceed the standards that those before me have set. I believe becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. means joining a group of highly educated women that together I believe are capable of facilitating the type of change that is imperative in today’s society. It is my hope that I will be accepted as a member and be afforded the opportunity to take part in that change. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my request to join your
sorority.
Women of Delta, especially the ladies of the Alpha Tau Chapter, excel excessively in everything they accomplish and partake in from what I have seen on Southern Universities campus and in the community. Their outstanding work ethics, academics success, social friendliness, dominating attitudes, and constant need to help others is just a few explanations why I would be honored to be a lovely member of ...
In conclusion, Kappa Delta is the best sorority on our campus. We are proud of our history and our commitment to helping others. Our philanthropies mean everything to us. We try our best to help better serve them and their cause. We try our best to uphold our values that will benefit us throughout our lives. Being confident is the best feeling in the world. When I joined Kappa Delta, I was a shy and awkward teenage girl. Now that I have been in the sorority for some time I have become a strong, independent, and self-assured woman. These ladies have supported me through all my tough and hard times. No matter what happens in life I know that they will be there for me. Kappa Delta will always be home for me!
Thank you for considering me for induction into the James Monahan Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. I have been looking to join this society ever since I heard about it and have been trying my best so I can. I believe that I demonstrate the qualities of service, leadership, and character and would be a great addition to the National Junior Honor Society.
I am exceptionally grateful for this opportunity to possibly be a member of this very prestigious organization. Every day I work tremendously hard to be noticed by both other scholars and my teachers. Now that an opportunity has come, I am truly excited to demonstrate and live by the values of The National Junior Honors Society. I hope to further expose and show both my dedication and want to join arms with my community and my peers and I wish to continue to work with passion and fire to shape the world into a brighter place.
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...
The founders paved the way for future sorority members to take into heed and have an example of what to go by. The Women’s Suffrage is one of the many struggles the founders had to face. To face a problem within your community of this magnitude shows not only Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated strength, but how diligent the founders were. The founders of this sorority believed in a cause and stressed the importance of overcoming the barrier that was set before them. There are sorority members who continue to surpass and help solve the struggles within our community, such as getting our young people to vote and making sure African Americans are aware of their HIV status. These contributions say more about the women of this sorority than any other. This sorority is very diligent regarding the various events that they host. Time, quality, and effort are the traits I notice in the events that I have attended. The positive actions that the members of this sorority continue to produce, does not go unnoticed. The time and conscientiousness that these Delta women put in gives me great knowledge on how I should portray myself at all times as a future Delta woman. I aspire to be a member of a sorority that is fully committed in the sisterhood, community service, as well as being diligent leader in the sorority as well as outside the sorority. I aspire to be a member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
If granted the opportunity to become a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. I expected to become a better man once finishing the member in take process. Throughout the process I expect to develop many different skills that I can carry throughout life. I would like to become more professional as well as to enhance my networking skills. I expect to become more hands on in different charity events that I’m not familiar with. I would like to improvement my personal status and security, and the meeting of the everyday demands of living.
This essay is just a brief summary of why I desire to be an Alpha man and the contributions I will bring to Alpha Phi Alpha. As previously stated my fully expounded upon desires would greatly exceed the limits of this essay, so if I had K.I.S.S it into just three words, I would choose; learn, grow, and share. However, I am strong believer of deeds over words, so this essay will serve only as mental fodder and the main course will come in the form of my actions.
I wish to take the time to give thanks for this impeccable opportunity in applying for the highly sought after National Honor Society. I have been looking forward to embarking on this journey since I heard about this organization freshman year. I am truly elated to be one of the many students that qualifies, as I know the standards of excellence and character that must be exemplified and met.
Before the eighteenth century, one would not even know what a sorority was; let alone what a sorority meant to the community. Today, everyone is familiar what sorority mean and what they accomplish for the community. The American Heritage Student Dictionary’s definition of sorority is “a chiefly social organization of women students at a college or university; an association of women” (882). The dictionary’s definition gives the impression of a general sorority. Lawrence Ross defines sorority as more than the wearing of letters, or...
There are many advantages of joining an NAU organization as I have learned through Sigma Nu. There are many complicated issues and opportunities presented to people everyday. Some are more severe than others, but they all come down to a sense of commitment and desire. Just recently, I had the honor of dealing with headaches and alternating views as I was introduced to Greek Fraternal Life. I had looked into Fraternities in the past, but never pursued any group due to uncertainty. Because I was ignorant about the Greek system prior to attending N.A.U., my curiosity, first semester, allowed me to get a better understanding of it. With more knowledge and comprehension I decided to further look into becoming a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
I am beyond proud to say that I am a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. This organization is already shaping me into a better individual. This is one of the many advantages from being apart of the greek community.
Did you know that many successful men and women have participated in Greek organizations throughout their college years? Many people that have participated in Greek organizations have gone on to be very successful. Former President George W. Bush was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon at Yale University. (Besque) Delta Kappa Epsilon has dated back to 1883 when Edward Griffin Bartlett founded it. If students want to rush this particular fraternity there is certain criteria that must be met, they must have academic excellence, a high moral character, and a self respecting character. (DKE) “Nine million college students are members of a Greek organization and whether they join to make friends, build resumes, to go to parties or to learn leadership skills, they each have an incentive to change some aspect of their life.” (Examining the Benefits of Greek Life) Allowing these Greek organizations shows that successful people with positive values and goals do come out of Greek organizations. Continuing these positive organizations will allow students to surround themselves with positive students which will make for a more positive community and college
...t the top, but to raise the bar higher for those who are reaching for the top. The men of this fraternity set an example of achievement; they show that being the best isn’t enough. That is why I want to be a part of this fraternity, because I want to be set the example, I want to show that being okay isn’t good enough, and I want to show that being an African-American male, I will not be hindered by stereotypes or any other preconceptions. Being able to be a part of this organization that will push me to be the man I can be, rather than pull me down to a lower level; will grant me the opportunity to be able to show that others can make it, just like I did. Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. is the organization I wish to represent, progress, and be a member of because their objectives and goals, represent what I stand for, and I couldn’t see myself joining any other fraternity.
The history of fraternity and sorority was invented years ago due to the limitation of regulations on student’s activities and clubs. They are mainly known for their work and service within the community and campus. But the questionable act of sorority and fraternity impact on student’s education and life is the main concern. The commitment and dedication of members within sorority and fraternity overtakes majority of student’s life. In the journal, “The Effects of Fraternity/Sorority Membership on College Experiences and Outcomes,” authors Asel, Pascerella and Seifret, provides the explanation of a Greek’s life experience and the outcome of it. Studies has showed that the number of students spend more hours per week participating in extracurricular
