A Dynamic Individual with Vitality and Attitude…these are the characteristics of a true DIVA. I never knew the real meaning of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated until I attended college. While I was a student in middle and high school, the lovely women of Delta Sigma Theta seemed intangible to me. I admired them and wanted to one day follow in their footsteps. The way they spoke, how they carried themselves, the respect they demanded and the attention they received just by walking into a room was mind boggling to me. And from those short encounters I knew I wanted to be apart of this prestigious sorority, but now I know why I need to be apart of this extraordinary organization. Women of Delta, especially the ladies of the Alpha Tau Chapter, excel excessively in everything they accomplish and partake in from what I have seen on Southern Universities campus and in the community. Their outstanding work ethics, academics success, social friendliness, dominating attitudes, and constant need to help others is just a few explanations why I would be honored to be a lovely member of ...
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...
This essay is just a brief summary of why I desire to be an Alpha man and the contributions I will bring to Alpha Phi Alpha. As previously stated my fully expounded upon desires would greatly exceed the limits of this essay, so if I had K.I.S.S it into just three words, I would choose; learn, grow, and share. However, I am strong believer of deeds over words, so this essay will serve only as mental fodder and the main course will come in the form of my actions.
If a person exhibits these traits and the society desires to extend an invitation then you would be welcomed as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau

If I am chosen as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I will work hard to uphold the reputation and exceed the standards that those before me have set. I believe becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. means joining a group of highly educated women that together I believe are capable of facilitating the type of change that is imperative in today’s society. I am interested in joining Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in light of the fact that you provide an excellent avenue to assisting numerous communities. After my first year at Bowie State University I started doing my research and none of the others organizations possessd the devotion and empathy for accomplishing and helping other people like Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. I am a persevering, strong, God fearing young lady and I feel that I embody a lot of the same qualities that your adored 22 founders build this perstigous organization on.
I realized that he had some of the same concerns I have about pledging, the demand of the organization. He had to stop his process in undergraduate because he couldn't balance his academics with his pledging process. That's something that I wounded about now. I'm hoping that I can maintain my GPA while going through the process because I would not want to withdraw myself. From hearing about my father's experience I've learned that a sorority or a fraternity can help better you as an individual and push you to become yourself. My father's chapter challenge his in ways which made him have to evaluate himself as a person. I like that aspect of his chapter because everyone needs to find out who they are and to have a support system push you to better yourself is a great thing to have. Having a bond with an organization is something I look forward too. I want to choose an organization that concise with morals and beliefs just like my father did. My father interview got me to see that Greek-Life is more than just partying and stepping. It has other aspects such as networking, community service, brother/sisterhood, academics, and life learn lessons. My view on Greek-Life has changed from taking this class and hearing about my fathers process. I use to have a negative connotation about Greek-Life because I believe that all they did was step and party. Now finding out more information about these organizations I'm starting to see that the
There are many different preconceived ideas about what it means to be in a sorority, and many of them are not good things. When I was in high school, if I heard the words “sorority sister” I would immediately think of drunk party girls who was most likely failing all their classes. That was my preconceived idea of what it meant to be a member of these groups, but after I have encountered various members of sororities, I know now that I was wrong. A sorority is defined as a social group for females that are in college. There are very many different sororities all over the United States, and they can be distinguished by the Greek letters that make up their name. Most people think that sororities are just for popular
I wish to become a woman of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., because of the strong sisterhood this sorority displays. Through my mentors I’ve seen the true sisterhood that Zeta Phi Beta has. I come from family of all males so I feel that I’ve never had women to truly call my sisters. Having sister has always been a dream of mine. I also love the work in the community that this sorority does. Community service is very dear to my heart so the fact that this sorority does so much of that amazes me. I know that Zeta Phi Beta has made a difference in many people’s lives, and nothing would make me happier than to be a part of that.
...t the top, but to raise the bar higher for those who are reaching for the top. The men of this fraternity set an example of achievement; they show that being the best isn’t enough. That is why I want to be a part of this fraternity, because I want to be set the example, I want to show that being okay isn’t good enough, and I want to show that being an African-American male, I will not be hindered by stereotypes or any other preconceptions. Being able to be a part of this organization that will push me to be the man I can be, rather than pull me down to a lower level; will grant me the opportunity to be able to show that others can make it, just like I did. Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. is the organization I wish to represent, progress, and be a member of because their objectives and goals, represent what I stand for, and I couldn’t see myself joining any other fraternity.
In society today, Going Greek is a controversial topic. One of the main questions on every freshman's mind when he or she first arrives at school is "Should I rush a fraternity or a sorority?” This is a particularly tough decision for most people, and there are many determining factors to consider. While evaluating the Greek system as a whole, one must consider the reasons that make becoming part of the Greek system so worthwhile. Joining the Greek system is a unparalleled experience because it gives individuals a second family that helps to make a home away from home, it gives students an easy way to become a major part of campus life, and it provides young adults with a a good foundation as an individuals entering alumni status.

I chose Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) from an HBCU, Howard University which is located in Washington D.C., Maryland. Howard University co-ed Ethel Hedgeman dreamed of creating a support group for women with like minds coming together for mutual uplift, and coalescing their talents and strengths for the benefit of others, On January 15, 1908; her vision crystallized as Alpha Kappa Alpha, the first Negro Greek-letter sorority. This experience was the most instrumental in my personal growth throughout my undergraduate career. I have always considered myself to have characteristics of a leader, but taking on so many leadership roles in Delta Sigma Theta turned those disjointed characteristics into a cohesive reality. Upon becoming member of Delta Sigma Theta, I was balancing being a full time student, working over 40 hours week, volunteer work, and other extracurriculars. Rather than taking a backseat in the chapter, I decided to put my talents to use in every way that I saw fit. I learned a great deal about teamwork, time management, and accomplishing goals regardless of obstacles.
The Swim Club is an ideal organization because of my passion for swimming, meeting new people, and having a healthy lifestyle. Being fit is a passion of mine, so to maintain this athletic lifestyle, I workout in the weight room at my school in the mornings before school at 6 A.M. I have been lifting most mornings since freshman year, and even though I am one of only four girls who workout in the mornings, I still am devoted to my well-being. Since I have became very close with the girls I lift with, I have always been interested in joining the Greek System. I am eager to meet women who are from all different races, religions, and backgrounds. I am second generation in the United States, so I am very interested in meeting people from all across the world. Joining this organization would allow me to seek possible leadership roles, and become more involved in the on-campus community
