I have been in this school since kindergarden. I have been here long enough to see our school win the state title for football and I”ve also seen our school locked down. There is the good and the ugly in every story, and what side you choose to pick will make your life easier or a very long road to glory. There will be opportunities for you to take, such as sports like football, basketball or clubs like FFA or Trust. I decided to stick with cross country and FCCLA. They have help me, with FCCLA I have grown as a stronger leader, before FCCLA I was a shy kid, and now i'm a state officer. Also I have been able to travel the United States, from Washington D.C. to San Diego, and I have been able to meet some amazing people along the way. Cross country has helped me stay in shape for the long run. By joining Cross Country I have not only …show more content…
benefited my self by being healthy but also joined family, one that is huge in supporting one another. I have also joined FFA and various other clubs for the wrong reasons.
I joined FFA because I was excited for the adventure ahead. I remember I was a freshman who signed up for every event I could because I wanted to skip school; however, in doing this I struggled in school because I wanted to be with FFA instead of school. The big mistake was I would sign up for events that I wasn’t good at. I realized my mistake when I was a sophomore, and I decided to do only a few events that I liked. I also dropped other clubs because I joined them to skip school and they didn’t give me any advantage. I have seen the good and the ugly of this school. My advice to you is to join a club because you can’t always be in high school. Also join clubs for the benefits and the opportunities to grow and not just to skip school. And there are more sports and clubs in this school, I only listed the ones that effected me the most, so don’t be shy and miss out on some awesome experiences. Also FFA is a good club I just joined it for the wrong reasons, just like the other clubs. I stuck with FCCLA because I am thinking about a future in FCS as a
teacher. So in the end, join a club that fits into your schedule and one that you can grow into and not just to skip school. Also participate in a club or sport, because you won’t always be in high school. Like I said, there is the good and the ugly in every story, and what side you choose to pick will make your life easier or a very long road to glory.
I decided one random night that I wanted to be more active and make more friends so I asked my mom if I could join the field hockey team to which her response was a surprised look followed with “seriously?” next thing you know i'm in patient first getting a physical for a fall sport. I am glad that I joined field hockey because now I feel like I am more productive than I would have been if I just went home after school and sat around until I went to dance class. Another thing that I did this year that is out of my comfort zone is that I joined pantherette. Last year I wanted to join but my nerves got the best of me and I got to nervous to go to the meetings. However, this year I decided that I should try it and try something new. Although, if i'm being honest i'm still kind of nervous at the idea of someone reading something I
I have been a four year letter-winner in volleyball and basketball. Athletics have been a crucial part of developing my character and work ethic. In sports, you must work together with your team to reach your goals. Trust and communication skills are vital and are tested every day. The failure and setbacks I have faced through sports have helped me to believe in myself and have the self-confidence that it takes to be successful in athletics and in life. As a senior captain of the volleyball and basketball teams, my leadership has improved tremendously as high school has progressed. Being a leader holds me accountable and I aim to be a role model for younger teammates on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.
I could tell while speaking to my interviewees how much passion they had for the school alone. Our generation does not focus on what was done before but what is here now. When looking back in time the history is much relevant then the present. Completing this project made me appreciate Scotlandville even more for what they’ve done to make the Scotlandville family what it is today.
I believe in FBLA and the hard work that goes into this club. I believe that I am the best option for a position as an officer. I believe that I am the best option because I will always complete my duties the right way with no delay. I will always take responsibility for my actions and take the initiative for what needs to be done when it needs to be done. Not only will I be involved but I will always take the opportunity to recruit friends or any classmates to join FBLA and find ways to get involved in all the fun, hard work, and dedication that is FBLA so that we can continually make this club grow in size and productivity. Before events I will always work with advisors and give my input on what I think will be the best way to execute the
Why do you want to go to Asmsa? Why leave home for this school? Is it even the right place for you? All of these questions I have heard be asked before, by my parents, my friends, even I ask myself if this is the right choice, but every time I hear it, I have the answer ready. Of course Asmsa is the right place for me, not only is the school I’ve looked forward to going to since the 7th grade, It is the type of school I’ve always needed to put me in the mindset for learning. The school is a community of learners and full of people who want to achieve, to do more than just graduate, to be more than just valedictorian, and to ask the questions that most wouldn't even care about. The staff at Asmsa is also very educated in the fields they teach, so any and all questions you may have they can answer and don’t teach “for the test,” so to
One extracurricular activity that I am very passionate about would be the FFA. FFA has taught me so many things and it has brought me so many places. I 've learned how to be a great speaker from different events my advisor has challenged me to do. Public speaking has taken me so many places and I have attributed most of my success to FFA. When I was a freshmen I competed and received gold in the creed speaking competition. As a sophomore, I tried extemporaneous speaking and received a gold for that as well. As a junior I really wanted to challenge myself so I took up agricultural sales as my winter career development experience. I ended up being recognized as the state runner up individual agriculture salesman as well as the 15th best agricultural sales man in the nation. Now as a senior, I have been going around speaking at different school board meetings, advocating
The most meaningful and challenging experiences in my life have been through sports and the 4-H club. They have instilled the values of perseverance, confidence, and teamwork within me. I feel that my peers and others could learn valuable life lessons through participating in these organizations. They are not just clubs, but a guiding light for life. For example in sports I have had the opportunity to play on both losing and winning teams. This has given me a different perspective of looking at things. I now realize that even if you fail or lose that is no reason to give up, you still have to get right back up. Just realize your mistakes and errors. Then come back the next time, mentally and physically, ready to meet the challenge. To often in life youth and adults alike fail at something and automatically think that they cannot do it, and give up. Instead of just pushing themselves to run another lap, lift another set, study for another hour, or learn another theorem. Imagine a world if the early American settlers had given in to the British, if the North had given in to the South after the first loss of the civil war, or if Michael Jordan had given up after being cut from the team in high school. People just need to learn to have perseverance and believe in themselves. 4-H has been a series of stepping-stones for me. When I first started out at age four I was shy and afraid to do things that I had not done before, but now I have blossomed into a confident and outgoing young man. I no longer fear getting up in front of large groups and speaking because of the experiences I've had in public speaking events. In addition, 4-H has given me the chance to develop myself as a leader. Over the years I have held various leadership positions on the club, county, and district levels. Also, 4-H has given me the chance to go into the community and help people by leading youth in workshops, assisting the handicap and elderly, and also learn from what others have to teach. In both of these organizations I learned the need for teamwork. For example last year my football team went 0-11 and the main reason because of that was we were not a team.
Looking back on my three years at Twin Cities Academy, I find myself wondering how all these years came and went so fast. I still watch myself walking through the same halls and sitting in the same classrooms as I did back in 6th and 7th grade and I’ve seen myself grow so much, mentally, socially and physically. I still remember everything that has happened throughout my years, the best of times, and the worst.
The most interesting thing about the FFA to me is how it takes young adults and turns them into smart leaders. This is interesting to me because I love how they make us leaders. FFA doesn't just take us and tell us how we should act and the way we should do things, the FFA does these things themselves and I believe that is very important when it comes to teaching.
Since I am from such a small school, as a leader, I have been in many different activities and sports. When I go to college, I would like continue this in college. In such a small school, we are in as many activities that we can handle along with upper class and concurrent and PSEO courses. In college, I would love to be involved in intermural volleyball and basketball, since I played them in high school. I also would like to do fitness
So it’s not a stretch to say that doing athletics all through middle school to stay somewhat high on the social ladder was a bit of a strange choice. I never really enjoyed playing sports, but my friend group did, and playing with them seemed like an easy way to get people to like me. I’ve realized that this approach doesn’t apply anymore. While I’ve gotten a lot of valuable things from athletics, such as knowing how to be (somewhat) physically fit, I don’t love it enough to be able to commit my high school experience to it. Trying to fit into a role in order to be a certain type of person never really works out in the end. You’ll get some enjoyment from it, but you’ll never feel fulfilled. Being true to the person you are gets you places. It might be counterintuitive at first, but there are always people willing to accept you, and these are the people you’ll want to spend time with. By taking the classes I want to take instead of taking the ones I feel obligated to take, I’ll make better memories, and at the end, those are all I’ve got. I would prefer that they be good
Let me begin by saying that I am very honored to be addressing the County High School Class of 2012 as students of this institution for the last time. We've spent these last four years creating some serious memories: four years of chieftain power, leaking roofs, questionable Homecoming skits, and musical principals. Four years of good teachers, bad teachers, new teachers, old teachers. Four years of youth, music, growing up and breaking free. Four rubber chickens, four yearbooks, four ASB presidents and four chubby bunnies.
“When I was a teenager, I began to settle into school because I’d discover the extracurricular activities that interested me…” Morgan Freeman explained what extracurricular activities did for him. Almost every high school offers a plethora of extracurricular activities. While teachers don’t always implement it and parents are hesitate about it, participating in extracurricular activities will bring children many benefits. Allowing high school students to get involved in extracurricular activities is a very positive and beneficial choice in a variety of ways. Extracurricular activities help teach time management, grow social development, and leave a positive impact on college applications.
Hi, my name is Rob Geis and I am currently in grade 12. I have been at County High School for a year now; I joined at the start of 11th grade, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here. The school is great, the people are fantastic and the atmosphere is one that makes you actually want to go to school. Before I joined ASB I was studying at the Singapore American School for two years and prior to that I was at the International School of Kuala Lumpur for two years. I was born and raised here in Bombay city and grew up here.
My goal to do everything started in 9th grade. I was new to high school and I wanted to take risks and join clubs. I decided to join the drill team, the step team, the oratorical club, and the math counts club. I was able to maintain my grades while participating in all of these groups. My JROTC instructors observed how motivated and balanced I was and I was soon promoted to be on staff,...
