This is not an easy undertaking, but is important to have a realistic picture of a starting point to begin my weight challenge and exercise plan. I must know how I arrived at this point, what was the cause of this weight challenge whether it was stress, work and or school. I must overcome these barriers to meet my goals. Once I am able to control the progress of my life changes, and realize the points of the plan I have changed the SMART objectives will be more attainable. I plan to make some modifications to my current diet in order to reach my goal weight. My task will be strictly sticking to the Meal Plan A on the Super Tracker website. I will have to closely monitor my portion sizes. This will insure that I don’t go under my target daily food groups or exceed these target foods.
Change your mindset and you can change your body, discipline can be the difference between dieting and weight management. Health behaviors have a great effect on how we live our lives, often dictating how we experience our environment. One health behavior that many find difficult, including myself, to alter or manage over time is weight. The physical weight of an individual affects how the individual sees the world and poses a risk to health and wellbeing. A way to manage weight is through a behavioral contract, which aims to change current health behavior and form better, healthier habits. Through an individualized, self-monitored behavior contract and social support, healthy weight management may be achieved.
Physical activity is my weakest area. I only exercised one day of the week and the plan was for six to seven days a week. The most successful and reasonable way that I can work my way up to my goal is to not jump in with both feet and think that I should be over exerting myself because I will lose interest. I enjoy classes such as yoga, spin class, or kickboxing which would be a great way to build up my energy and also be entertaining. Walking for thirty minutes a day is another way to effectively engage my body to be more
At the beginning of the journey, I used an unhealthy way -- Only eating apples for 14 days was my first “strategy” to quick lose weight. Despite I lost 12 pounds of the first two weeks, I could not concentrate and feel depressed. Yet after returning normal diet, my weight rebounded. I hated myself why ate so much before and why I have the gene that gains weight perhaps even if I only drink water. After a few days, I realized that only keeps a diet is not efficient, I have to work out in order to burn more calories. I found a front desk position in a gym, hence I could work out as free after my work. Realizing the process would be tough if I do it alone, I started a post of a BBS in order to attract a group of people. I shared how at first that I used unhealthy way frustrated me, and how much weight I had been lost since I try eating healthier and work out more; I want to continue this method and find some friends getting each other’s back. With the same determination, a group of 20 people was established.
I was tired of being overweight, feeling tired all the time, and I wanted to get my confidence back, I knew in order to do that I would have to make a lifestyle change. I had no prior knowledge of health and nutrition, so I wanted to increase my knowledge of the basic areas of health and wellness to implement in my daily lifestyle. My hope was to create a strategy that could be implemented in my daily life that could give me a solid base for starting my weight loss
A person should start young if they want to form a strong habit of being physically healthy. As I have stated many times in my plan, the activities I do now have huge implications of how my life will look as I age. Since May 1st of this year, I promised myself that I would take my health journey more seriously. While I have worked on my fitness at the gym, I also have in the kitchen. I am learning each day what it looks like to eat healthy. During this journey of high’s and low’s, I am learning to love my body and its abilities. Being healthy means I am glorifying God and I feel good. This journey is making an incredible difference in my life, and I am so confident that it is laying a foundation for the rest of my life. I intend to be this intentional with my physical health as I age. During retirement, I will still go to the gym three times a week. Getting out of the house and being active is important. I would love to take classes at the YMCA or a local fitness center, like yoga or Zumba. Investing in a treadmill is a must because I will want to stay active when it gets colder out. Also, having grandchildren will certainly keep me on my feet. Maybe we will have a dog that we can walk as well. My desire to always stay busy and
The SMART goal of the obesity program is to reduce the obese population in Pitt County by creating a healthier diet program. Different objectives will be needed in order to reach this goal. The first objective is that from July 2016 through December 2016 100 community members will participate in the health department’s health promotion activities. This objective aligns with the reinforcement construct of the Social Cognitive Theory. By repeatedly participating in the activities, the 100 community members will be rewarded with the knowledge they receive and also motivation to change their behavior. By having an enjoyable time, they will be rewarded and want to keep coming back to the activities. The second objective is that following the 6-month duration; the majority of the participants will lose 2-10% of their original body weight by changing to a healthier diet. The reason the participants need to lose 2-10% of their body weight is to either prevent or reduce the chances of gaining other health diseases associated with obesity, including coronary artery disease and Type 2 Diabetes. This objective aligns with the self-efficacy construct. By losing a little bit of body fat, the participants will believe in their ability to lose weight, and continue to do so. The third objective is that on June 17 and June 24, informational brochures will be distributed to the community members to create awareness and reminders to join the obesity program, and gain knowledge about the health condition of obesity. This objective deals with the behavioral capability construct of the Social Cognitive Theory because the participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to change their behavior through the brochures.
Creating an individual health and wellness plan helps you plan for your future of creating and /or maintaining a positive, safe lifestyle by addressing underlying issues. “No matter how hard we try and no matter what skills we bring to bear, some problems remain out of our control. When this is the case, we can tell the truth: ‘It’s too big and too mean. I can’t handle it.’ In that moment, we take a step toward greater health” (Ellis, 2015, p. 320). Problems and their solutions within a health plan can be evaluated through five different categories: Diet, Exercise, Rest, Safety, and Health Support. Today we will discuss how I was personally affected in each of those areas and how I plan to implement a solution.
After a long deliberation I decided to do my behavior modification project on my unhealthy eating habits. There are many meaningful reasons why I choose this as my behavior to modify. I want to kick start a healthy lifestyle change by eating healthier and being more active. Another upside to modifying this behavior is too hopefully *fingers crossed* lose a few unwanted pounds. The long term goal of this change is to live a happier, healthier life, and become more confident in myself. I have high hopes that I can achieve all of these goals by cutting out junk food and sweets and replacing those items with nutritious and balanced food.
Throughout every person’s life, there will always be moments in time where change will take place. This could range from a variety of events such as changing schools, jobs, or even one’s own home. However, there are some habits that help one stay healthy if they remain consistent. This can consist of altering one’s diet to a healthier one or even enhancing the number hours of sleep one gets per night. A health change behavior goal that I have taken the time to evaluate and accept is necessary will be composed of a ten day exercise program in order to completely change my physical fitness habits. Selecting this health change behavior was the best choice due to the fact that after starting my educational career here at UCI, I had abandoned the active lifestyle that I once had before college. For the past two
Regular physical activity is an important part of effective weight loss and weight maintenance. It also can help prevent several diseases and improve your overall health. It does not matter what type of physical activity you perform--sports, planned exercise, household chores, yard work, or work-related tasks--all are beneficial. Studies show that even the most inactive people can gain significant health benefits if they accumulate 30 minutes or more of physical activity per day. Based on these findings,
Living a healthy lifestyle is a melting pot of several factors. One is not able to live a healthy lifestyle without a solid diet and workout foundation. The harmful side effects of processed food, drugs, alcohol, and sleep deprivation trump one’s life while mental and emotional stability aids in a healthy lifestyle. According to Jillian Michaels, “The right diet will regulate your blood sugar, balance your hormones, and maximize your energy, all of which promote optimal fat burning and muscle development.” None the less, one must form a platform based on healthy morals and principles in order to live life to its fullest potential.
Food is one of the necessities of life in order to survive. Everyone has different views on what to eat and different eating habits. People are so busy in their everyday life that they don’t keep track of what they eat on a daily basis. However, it is important to understand the role of nutrition. Nutrition and exercise are vital to maintain physical health. Proper nutrition is required by our body for energy, growth, maintenance, and repair (Grodner, Roth, & Walkingshw, 2012). Even the brain requires nutrients in order for a person to be intellectually healthy. Along with nutrition, exercise can be controlled by an individual. Exercise helps to strengthen bones and muscles, control weight, improves mental health and mood, reduces risk for cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, and some cancers, and overall increases the chances of living longer (CDC). For this assignment, I kept a food journal by tracking what I ate and the amount of exercise on a daily basis on a food tracker for three weeks. The purpose of that was to analyze my diet and exercise in more depth in order to determine the amount of vitamins, minerals, fat, protein, carbohydrates, and calories I am eating daily. Based on the results, I made some modifications.
One of the best ways in how people can improve their overall mood, keep their bones healthy and even live longer, is by being an active person. Fred DeVito stated that “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn 't change you”; however most people just want exercise just to have a fit body and be healthier without knowing great results. Other effects that exercise has into the body are normalization of glucose, insulin and leptin levels. In other words not only will it make the appearance in a person’s life to look great, but their entire body will have an extraordinary response. In order to have a more fulfilling and enjoyable life, those who are out of shape should participate in regular fitness schedule reginert.
Sedentary lifestyles have greatly contributed to obesity, and to the diseases affecting to the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. It has been shown that physical inactivity reduces our strength, results in low energy levels, and causes obesity. It is therefore very essential to ensure we that lead a physically active life. Exercising regularly is the key to a healthy life. However, this is hampered by factors like lack of motivation, time and money.
