Dr. Seuss once said, “ You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go,” which is why I chose to go to Student Council. For I know that Student Council will provide me with many outstanding opportunities, such as, being able to become a better leader, meeting new people, becoming more involved, and to being a part of something bigger than myself. I believe that Student Council can help me to reach these goals throughout this school year with all of the wonderful things that we will do. For example, I hope to be on the Sunshine Committee, because it will help me to branch out to meet new people and become a better more positive person through helping
This is when I decided to try and become a member of the student council. I was elected and soon loved it. My school is very important to me and I wanted to do my very best to make it the best possible high school experience for not only me, but every student that attends White Bear Lake. I found that was helpful to have many different views on the council, and I think I brought a new view that was not accounted for before. Being a hockey captain my senior year, I was elected to be in Leadership Academy. This group meets and talks about how to most effectively lead our sports teams as well as the school. This is very important to me because as a leader I want to set the best example possible for my peers and this group allows me to improve my leadership skills to make them even better. I value this program very much because I think it will help me to succeed in the future, because these skills are lifelong skills to have. I have also became a math tutor for my classmates. Being a tutor is very important to me because it allows me to share my knowledge and help
Finally, as a member of the Student Leadership Council, I have developed meaningful relationships with peers, advisors and community leaders, some who share my views and others whose views are utterly different from mine. I have been able to grow tremendously from my association with Students Against Destructive Decisions. Thus, it is my desire to continue volunteering for the Students Against Destructive Decisions Student Leadership Council, even after I graduate from high school, because it has been such a meaningful and rewarding experience. It is my hopes that I will be able to some day facilitate a Students Against Destructive Decisions Program in my community, as there is an urgent need for positive adult mentors.
I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Coaches and teammates have named me as an important asset as well. Over the years, these opportunities have presented me with many chances to enjoy extracurricular involvement, meet new people, and mature into a
I want to be a member of Senior Class Cabinet to increase Darby pride and continue to lead within Darby, while also creating new events to make senior year the best it can be. I have been at Darby for nearly three years now, and every year the senior class, and specifically Senior Class Cabinet, are constantly finding ways to encourage younger students to get involved within the school, while also continuing to make their own senior year more memorable. During my time thus far at Darby, the upperclassmen have shaped my ideas and thoughts about Daby, while also teaching me that what you get out of the high school experience is exactly what you put into it. While not everyone may get involved in school spirit, doing so creates a more upbeat atmosphere and creates a more memorable experience. By getting involved in Senior Class Cabinet, we can portray a similar message to
Throughout my first year in middle school I have really started taking great thought into my future. I have realized that I am getting closer to my adult life and that I need to start to plan for the type of future that I wish to have. As much as I enjoy team activities, I do think of myself as more of a leader and would like to go about planning my career in this way. I am determined to go about things at an advanced pace which is why I believe I should be part of the National Junior Honor Society.
Freshman fifteen is the NEW EPIDEMIC!!.. or not? In the eyes of freshman, college can be seen as entering the lion’s den when transitioning from high school. Students routines, diets, and moods drastically change resulting in an imbalance of one’s well being. As a way to cope college freshman typically look towards food for a release. Therefore, this is where the term freshman fifteen was born. Freshman fifteen is the idea that in one’s first year of attending college, the student will gain fifteen pounds. On average students are gaining weight at an abnormal pace however, it is not exactly the amount that the media has portrayed.
The Student Government Association is a very important organization that makes a large impact on Willard High School. I would like to be a part of changing and improving how the school operates and is organized. I believe that being a part of SGA will be very beneficial in many aspects, including helping me learn how to be more confident in any future position and become a better leader. Each year, the members of this group have been in charge of bettering everyone’s experience and I qualify in aiding them in the upcoming year.
The years in high school would perhaps be the most formative years for my future and I want these to be spent at Sidwell Friends because it values intellectual inquiry, provokes authentic exploration, and puts prodigious emphasis on giving back to the community. I have pursued my intellectual interests and have been engaged in community service both in and out of the classroom. I’ve been interning at a technology startup in Silicon Valley building an Analytics platform for addressing the challenges of clean water across global communities. I also volunteer at a charitable organization dedicated to the empowerment of refugees in the USA to lead sustainable lives. I’m committed to pursue these interests and am confident that Sidwell Friends with
As a freshman who is eager to start getting involved in my new community and school CSC will allow me to do exactly that. I think CSC is an incredible organization because with 2,000 student volunteers UCLA can make such an powerful impact on our campus, in LA, and in our world. I want to be apart of that. Since I am not an LA native, CSC will introduce me to the needs and challenges in the LA area. The biggest reason I want to become a fellow is because I have a deep desire to learn about the social issues we are facing and how I can start to implement a change within my
The freshman fifteen is a belief that students in their first year of college gain fifteen pounds. However, is the estimated weight gain of fifteen pounds actually accurate, and what would the cause of this weight gain be? Students typically gain weight their first year of college for various reasons. Some of the reasons that they gain weight are because they can't afford healthy food, they do not know how to cook, they do not have time to exercise, and they do not have time to make a proper meal.
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
From the past year of my involvement with Student Government, and the activities and events participated in and organized, I wish to rejoin SGA for the upcoming school year. When I first applied for Student Government, I initially expected a laid back role within the organization, as it was my first year and it was widely known that the group lacked efficiency or an actual role in the school community. Fortunately, I was wrong, and entered this school year with active (and stressful) responsibilities for the organization. Looking back on my own performance and actions during each event and student-run activity I participated in, I would like to think I served my purpose well, and excelled in the roles I was given, such as planning events,
Southeastern University is a private, Co-ed, Christian university. SEU’s main focus is to equip their students to be a next generation of leaders so that they can enter the real world as influential servants to their careers and communities. Southeastern university offers a plentiful amount of study programs, even the program I am interested in which is Human services. I selected this school First because it is a Christian college, and Second because of the programs of study. I chose to go to a Christian college because I grew up in a Christian household and because I believe in Jesus. I also chose Southeastern University because of the programs of study. SEU was one of the few colleges that had a program of study that I was interested in.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
If I become a representative for the freshman class, I intend to act professional and treat the other council members with the utmost of my respect because as a representative I will represent the whole freshman class with my decisions and actions while I am in office. I also promise to understand my role and acknowledge that even though I am in a position of power I must obey the rules of the school and respect the administrators of our prestigious school. If I end up winning the election, I will set the right example for the students that are watching me and how I behave to replicate my attitude and/or behavior around other students and my teachers. I want this position so I can have the opportunity to lead people to Jesus through my kindness and responsibility in my treatment of fellow students. I believe that if I set the best possible example for Jesus, then maybe my possible successors will follow in my footsteps and become better people by doing so.
