Recommended: Importance of extra curricular activities in a students life

“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” Ronald Reagan was a leader with confidence of his aptitude and potential to lead. He accredited other leaders, and together, committed to make positive differences in the lives of people around them. Reagan and I would both agree no one is born a leader; leaders mold from the experiences and challenges pushing them to lead, and they use their leadership to influence the communities of people around them. Like Reagan, I too have made a positive difference in my school, community, and family, and will continue to make positive differences after high school – during my college years and beyond.

I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Coaches and teammates have named me as an important asset as well. The theme the officer team came up with for this year was Be the Degree! “At 211° degrees, water is hot; at 212°, water boils.” One degree makes all the difference, just like one person can make all the difference. We advocated the importance of going the “extra degree” and making a difference in their life, as well as the lives of people around them. There are many types of leaders; for example, there are leaders who like to express themselves by speaking or leaders who silently guide others towards the right path.
