From the past year of my involvement with Student Government, and the activities and events participated in and organized, I wish to rejoin SGA for the upcoming school year. When I first applied for Student Government, I initially expected a laid back role within the organization, as it was my first year and it was widely known that the group lacked efficiency or an actual role in the school community. Fortunately, I was wrong, and entered this school year with active (and stressful) responsibilities for the organization. Looking back on my own performance and actions during each event and student-run activity I participated in, I would like to think I served my purpose well, and excelled in the roles I was given, such as planning events,
volunteering with the community, and interacting with SGA members to achieve a desired outcome for our school. If re-elected, the similar skills I exemplified would be utilized again, in providing for the school and my fellow students. Contributions of my time, effort, and resources would be expected of me, and I am prepared to provide them. Student government at Edgewater has long since been known for its half-assery and limited interaction with the school. Reflecting on events held and community response from this previous school year, I believe SGA has taken a massive step forward in the eyes of both the students and faculty. In order to continue our starting streak of successful events and handling of school interactions, rejoining Student Government is a means for me to help continue putting SGA’s best foot forward. Commitment to this school and organization is what drives the efficiency and success within SGA, and I would like to commit myself to re-serve this purpose.

Not only will I be involved but I will always take the opportunity to recruit friends or any classmates to join FBLA and find ways to get involved in all the fun, hard work, and dedication that is FBLA so that we can continually make this club grow in size and productivity. Before events I will always work with advisors and give my input on what I think will be the best way to execute the

Despite not being a part of over 20 different organizations, as some claim to be, being a part of a smaller number of groups has allowed me to focus on developing my leadership skills more thoroughly than I could otherwise. Not spreading myself too thin has made me much more committed and involved in the organizations that I am a part of, making my influences so much stronger. I firmly believe that I am trying my absolute best not only in school, but in leaving my comfort zone and being an active member in our community. I am honored that I have been considered for such a prestigious invitation as
Prompt: In 500 words or more, describe your collegiate experience thus far. How has this experience and the knowledge you've gained influenced what you plan to study? How have they influenced your decision to apply to St. Edward's?
I have witnessed the different levels of government in action, perfected an understanding of the process in which they work and learned how their decisions affect others or vice versa. In this moment I have the chance to take my knowledge to the next intellectual level, by maximizing the opportunity to master a more intricate part of the law. A class speaker once stated “The best thing you can give to the world is you at you best”. I believe that this institution has more than enough of the proper tools to help me accomplish that. Overtime I‘ve worked at five community centers on a need basis, that is similar to Five different cities. One thing remains constant when camp is over the children all ask if I will see them again, I smile and tell them my catch phrase. When I do see them afterwards, they have forgotten “The Crazy Lady” and know me as Ms.S.
My most important contribution to my school has been being involved in marching band. I have been in the Pride of Morehead marching band for four years now. Marching band is one of those organizations that begins prior to school starting. We have two weeks of band camp. During this time period, we teach the freshman how to march, memorize music, as well as learn who they are. We also begin to learn the drill for the show. During this time we make new friendships with younger band members. As I have gotten older, many of my friends have graduated and left band. As a senior, my only significant friends were seniors. I decided to reach out and make new friendships this year so the freshman would feel more comfortable. As a section leader, I have
In order to improve BSA, the officers must collaborate constantly to provide as many novel and valuable experiences to its’ members as possible. I believe my strong background in the organization of community service and social events will provide valuable tools to the BSA officer team. In order for BSA to be truly successful, every elected officer must be willing to put others before themselves, and perform every task asked of them full heartedly. I know for a fact I will be able to lead others by example as an officer this upcoming school
I was selected to be one of the Associate Student Council at my high school. Being in a student council, I learnt to establish goals, delegate my responsibilities, practice giving directions to the students on executing tasks successfully and organizing orientation activities for the new students. My teacher said that I had the ability to lead my friends and the new students. During my high school life, as one of the student council, I used to handle many orientation activities for the new students. For example, I conducted a tour around my high school compounds for the new students while giving them descriptions about the school. I am really confident that there are a lot of things that I learnt from this position which I can use if I was chosen as a new student orientation
In the fall of 2014, I decided to run for class president. The decision was rather spontaneous. Throughout the previous school year I had taken no blank towards my class’s government. I had no interest in it, nor had I any knowledge of how to be a successful class president. None the less, I saw it as an opportunity to be a leader, and a opportunity to help my class and my classmates, for I knew what they wanted.
When going into high school many students can have a feeling of uncertainty. They may worry about upperclassmen, grades, and growing up. As these things were definitely on my mind when I became a freshman, so was another topic.. During middle school I had always been in student council, but it was never as serious as Hartford’s High School Student Council. In high school student council, the members were allowed more freedoms such as planning pep rallies, handling student funds, and working most school events. Although, as the responsibilities of student council doubled so did the process to be a part of the organization. Even with some odds against me and many steps, I decided to run for student council president.
As a returning Junior Achievement student in their final year of high school, I feel that I’m qualified to represent GE Mississauga at this year’s annual Governor’s Dinner, per the following reasons.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
In the beginning of my Junior year, I never thought I was going to become so extroverted or even run for a position in SGA. However, after many of my friends suggested I should run for an office, my work began. But, I was at a significant disadvantage. I was going up against two others students who were both more popular than I was. I had to be creative if I was going to win this. I started talking to students I had
...new classes, I soon realized what would be the biggest challenge of college: deciding on a major. Yes, I am one of those people who started college without first declaring a major. I soon heard every question, suggestion, and response regarding possible options. I even began concocting false majors to throw some people off. Large-Scale Demolition was a crowd favorite.
