A great deal of students in a classroom, either in grade school of university, own a cell phone that does not leave their sight. Anyone can agree with that. In my own perspective, I believe that out of consideration of others around you, that cell phones for the most part, should be allowed in the classroom.

If a student is choosing to sit in class on their smartphone, and therefor not pay attention to the class lecture, this behaviour should not be the teachers responsibility. I strongly believe that a teachers job is to teach, not to babysit their students. My own personal opinion is that if a student is old enough to have a cell phone, they should be old enough to make the decision as to whether they choose to sit in class on their cell
Yes the teacher may strongly feel that the student is not soaking in the class material that is being taught. That therefor is not the teachers responsibility. I feel a teacher should most definitely, have the authorization to confiscate a cell phone from a student if they genuinely feel it is being a disturbance to those students around who are in fact trying to
Everyone is always looking for the newest trend or newest version of something. Electronics can also be a wonderful creation, but at times not. Students I believe just need to know that there is a time and a place to use them, and a time and a place on how to use them. Students need to be more respectful to of course the teacher, by realizing what they are doing is not only rude, but also knowing that your actions not only affect yourself, but also those around you. Teachers I still feel should not however have the ability to take a cellphone from a student until they are desperately affecting a student around them, and if a student decides to sit there, be disrespectful and text on their phone an entire lesson then let it be, it should effect them not the
