Recommended: Introduction on why phones should be in school
Many teachers ask their students to put their phones away when in the classroom. I see people on their phones in class everyday and even when the teacher asks them to put it away they still dont. I think that putting their phone away should be enforced because it is very disrespectful, distracting, and many people use it to cheat on tests or quizzes. When the teacher asks a student to put their phone away and they don't I think that it is very disrespectful, because the teachers are their to help teach you, and when they are telling you to put their phone away it takes time out of what they're teaching to talk to you specifically. After the teacher asks them to put their phone away they chose not to because they don't think it is that big of deal to have a phone out when the teacher is talking or trying to teach something. I think that having your phone out in class is not only disrespectful to the the teachers but also to the students around them. It is also very disrespectful and frustrating when other students want to learn what is going on but can't because the teacher is telling them to put their phone away every minute of the class. It also might frustrate the students around them that don't have a Iphone …show more content…
or Smartphone because they don't get the opportunity like all the other people around them to be on their phone. Everytime I look around the classroom I see someone on their phone and when a teacher is teaching something, that phone is very distracting and can lessen their learning opportunity.
It could also distract the people around them because if the students are on their phones and they are friends the friend is going to want to know what is going on and that then distracts the student next to them. It would also distract the teacher because the teacher is going to need to stop every few minutes to ask the student to put their phone away. Stopping the class to ask one student to get off their phone not only distracts the teacher but the whole class too. Distraction will lead to lower grades because students are distracted by their phone instead of
learning. I have seen many students use their phones on tests because the teachers don't see them using their phones to cheat on a test. Students use their phones to cheat on a test and are able to get away with it. They will think that it is okay to use it on all of the other tests, and that will mean they won't pay attention and then they won't learn anything. I think that if a student has their phone out during a test then they will use it as a resource for all of the other tests and that will limit what they are learning in the class. Students should not have to depend on their phones to take a test, they should be learning and understanding what is going on in the class. In conclusion, phones in the classroom, students should not be able to have their phone out in class. Phones in the classroom are very disrespectful, distracting, and are easily used as a resource on tests. They should not be used in classrooms, because in the end it would just be better to ban them.
Imagine that you are in class taking a test, and there is a student who is on his phone cheating, causing distractions, and bullying people in the process. Would you hate that? I know I would. I feel it is disrespectful, and somebody has to put an end to it. If you go to school to learn like everybody else, then you should respect your classmates and keep your phone at home. Cell phones should not be allowed in school because they can be used to bully people, cheating, and cause distractions.
There are many reasons why people think that kids shouldn't have their phone in class with them. I have three reasons, saying that they should and they are family crisis, calculator, research.
One reason that cell phones should be banned from classrooms is because students who use them fall into a daze of distracted learning. Classes are taught by teachers, whose goal is to give the student an educational experience, learning things they will need to apply to their later life. However, students on their cellphones are distracted from their learning and never use the lessons taught. Over 2,000 cellphone disturbances were reported in New York City in the past school year (Backstory). This means that over 2,000 people had issues with cellphones interrupting classroom discussi...
More than 40% of teens are using their phones during school hours even though phone usage is prohibited. Of those teens, 43% are texting during class. Of those texting, a little under half of them are texting other students, in the same class, just a few feet away. Additionally, 66% of parents text their child while they are at school. Although schools impose consequences to discourage phones in school, they don't always work, so the pattern just starts over again where teens are using phones during school hours. Even though phones can be used as learning tools, cell phones should not be allowed in classes during school hours without permission of a teacher because they can be a tool for cheating, an educational disruption, and a platform
idea. So schools should ban students having cell phones at all in the class due to the following
It’s not acceptable to use cell phones in class. Actually, using cell phones has more negative effects than positive. So, why do we need to change the policy that prohibits students from using cell phones in classrooms? In my opinion, I will say no, we shouldn’t change the policy that exists now - no cell phone use, under any circumstances.
Most students who come to class all have one purpose to accomplish the major. They all go to school to learn and to get better. ” Hand in my cell phone? Why? Was the professor worried that student’s phone would ring nonstop, thereby interrupt her lecture?” (Guiterrez 46). However, some of students do not respect the college environment in coincident or purpose. For example, some students focus on their cellphone screen than pay attention on class martial, and so on their cell phone is accidently ring while class meeting. It is bothering the other student and interrupt the class. Therefore the cellphone banning is invented to prevent of the distracting while class meeting. According to Ava Gutierrez’s essay “Let’s ban the cell phone ban” indicate “Professor have a right to except that student will be attentive. But a blanket cell phone ban-imposed without any input from student- is a mistaken way to address these concern.”(46). The rule is not about the commandment of their cell phone, but it simply ask students to volunteer themselves to turn off their cell phone before entering class. One of the examples Ava Gutierrez shows that student could be asked politely to turn off their cellphone when they are in classroom, or they would be asked firmly to put their cellphone a way when at fault (46). The student should have a responsibility of their cellphone when they enter the
If they can't remember the material because they were on their phone than they can't pass their exams. Only paying attention half of the time in class can result in this. Studies have shown that electronic devices being regulated and applied in the class room for related purposes is a positive, but when students start to get off track and wonder off into the phones that's when performance suffers. Having these devices in classroom will lead to students getting distracted. They can also be disruptive to the other students as well.
Cell phones should not be allowed in school because children focus more on the phone than schoolwork, it creates more drama, and it promotes cheating. Cell phones should not be allowed in schools because kids are always wondering what their friends are doing and what is happening outside of school. If they have access to their phones all day, then they will be glued to them. Phones are more entertaining than a teacher lecturing at the front of the class. Most students will start to zone out, or fall asleep, when a teacher starts a lesson.
Social media also distracts people from their jobs of school. Many schools allow the students to keep their phones. This can lead to the temptation for them to be on their phones during classes. Being on the phone can affect grades and get the kids in trouble. Social media also distracts people from their jobs.
Phones should be allowed in school because students might need to ask their parents how they are getting home or if they can go home with a friend. Students should be able to use their phone in the hallway, at lunch or if they have permission from a teacher. Students should be allowed to use their phones in the hallway and at lunch because they might have to turn in a paper or find out what they missed in a class. Students should also be allowed to you them in class if they get permission from a teacher if your
If students were allowed to use cell phones during school hours, then they might as well be told that they don’t have to pay attention during class. There are so many things that can be done with cell phones that honestly, are much more interesting than what the teacher may be lecturing about, or the assignment that was given. Students can use their cell phones to play a game, and they will be completely lost from what is being talked about in class. Music is also something that is provided with a cell phone, and students could just put their earphones in and not worry about what is going on in class. Texting is made possible with...
Cell phones are Distractions. You distract yourself and others that are around you from learning. Students constantly every single second are checking their devices, either the student is taking a selfie or texting and even maybe cheating. Cheating is the biggest fear of teachers. Cheating on a test is very dishonest and can result in some serious consequences. Students can also be using cellphones in an illegal way also. Illegal actions are such as; sexting, bullying through a text, pornography and or it could just be as simply as pictures of people without their permission. With those action it can make having students have cell phones be so scary and dangerous and can do harm. A school needs to be a safe environment for students to get an education and be successful in life. It’s all going to take trial and era to get to where there is less cellphones inside of the class rooms to make education in the lives of the students and teacher
This becomes a wider issue when students begin to pull out cell phones in the middle of class. Cue the distractions. Speaking from a high school student’s perspective, I can say that as much as I love having my phone with me at all times, it is definitely a distraction during class. There is always a number of times, during a lesson or a presentation, where I find my attention drifting off of the lecture, and towards my cell phone. As an individual who usually has a strong attention span, I can speak on behalf of my peers when I say that allowing personal technology would only be a distraction to students.
First of all, students absolutely should not be permitted to use cell phones during school hours because it is a distraction to other students. This is an issue that plays a huge role on student’s lives because it takes away from their academic education. The s...
