As many of us use our phones daily, do we ever stop and think it might affect our body? The 1st reason is that some people say that phones are safe and others say there not. Whats you opinion? My opinion is that phones may cause a risk of brain tumor or other health problems. Therefore many of us get distracted easily and it's pretty hard to get back on track. In 1973 the first portable cell phone was discovered. Therefore, supporting my claim based on why or why not phones are safe. Due to the cause that cell phones are not safe, I disagree. The reason why i disagreed is that cell phones are safe depending what you do,and also in case of an emergency you will have an electronic to access an adult. My second claim is that now in …show more content…
Because some parents are not concern that when you lend an electronic to a kid it's a habit for them and it will be an everyday thing for them. My third claim is that phones are a distraction as well. Using phones during school hours is a big distraction trust me it is. The reason why i tell you this is because I've been thru this. Sometimes i get distracted using my phone during class hours and it's pretty hard for me to get back on track. I'm one of those people that gets distracted easily. Half of the school that i know of they don't give the privileged to let young adults use their phones. Some teachers give you warnings, take it away or they call your parents to pick it up. Therefore, thank god I've never gotten my phone taken away but I've been told by a teacher to put my phone away. My last claim is, why do teachers get a little mad when they see student with their phones? My first argument is that the teachers should first ask why is their phone out, or they could tell them to put it away. Some teachers may not understand that sometimes there's an emergency at home and their getting a call. But in the other hand student just want to be with their phones for fun. When your in class and the teacher is giving a lecture students pull out their phone and go into social media. I think that's a bad idea because your missing out in the lecture and when it comes to testing your not going
What is a cell phone? When did the cell phone come out? Cell phones are electronic devices used for communicating. Engineer Martin Cooper was the first individual who made the first public cell phone in 1973 (Browning). Later on, the cell phone became the most important tool for our daily life in the modern world. Today society is a cell phone-controlled world, to some degree. Even though it is true that cell phones bring countless conveniences to people, the use of cell phones should be restricted. Despite their advantages as mapping and communication tools, they can cause accidents when used while driving, restrict driver’s attention which can cause safety concerns, and even lead to health problems.
The overwhelming data describes the details of the dangers involved when people use their cell phones whil...
Teachers are finding it harder and harder to separate a student from their cell phones for eight hours. Cellular devices and social media have become a number one priority for many people across the world. Due to the fact that the student will not put down their phones during school hours, their grades tend to be lower, which could, in the long run, affect their chances of getting into college. The use of cell phones does not strictly affect younger generations, it also had major influence on adults at the
My view is to be against the danger of using cell phones because cell phones do give off heat, which increases body temperature. Heat which comes from the screen of cell phones can cause blindness and can strain the eyes due to the fact that eyes do not have the function of disposing excess heat. Cell phone radiation heats the body, so, this can cause some kind of effect such as dehydration because heating causes sweating and excess water loss does cause dehydration.
Are cell phones a harmful distraction to society? With advances in technology today, the demand for better cell phones is skyrocketing. With new technological advancements happening everyday with cell phones, people are starting to depend on a cell phone for everyday tasks. Cell phones allow the user to contact friends or family with the touch of a button and allows them to play games in times of boredom. As a result of everyday use, cell phones have affected relationships, the brain, and health.
Cell phones are lacking face to face conversation. People aren't getting out more and aren't exercising as much as they should. The article “How Dangerous Is Your Cellphone?” states that cell phones can cause death. It can kill people by texting and driving. Also, the article states that they could cause cancer with the radiation. (Greenberg)
...erest for everybody. This is a good thing as it will help people to be aware of radiations and they would be eager to protect themselves. In 2011, International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified that cell phone radiation as Group 2B- possibly carcinogenic this means that there “could be some risks” but they also say that some heavy experiments is yet to be conducted. There is no specific reliable statement that says cell phones is dangerous but despite this it is best to use it as minimum as you can. In a public statement Xavier Bertrand French Health Minister said: “As the hypothesis of a risk cannot be entirely excluded. Precaution is justified.” Cell phones have made our life easier by allowing us to save time; however, we should use it in the right ways and not only the bad. Now a day the cell phone is being used unnecessarily for everything.
Why? They feel the need to be on social media or Netflix rather than get an education to me that is sad but true cause i do it to. Another thing is thatr having a cell phone will tempt teens to spend all day talking or texting, instead of doing anything productive. Studies have proven that teens who spend too much of their time with their cell phones are more prone to stress and fatigue. It can also lead to psychological disorders in some cases.
Millions of people own a mobile phone these days, and ever since they have been around scientists question the fact of they are safe or not. Do they cause tumors, earaches, mercury poisoning? All these health risks are mentioned in every article I found. But nowhere could I find anything that was sure if mobiles did cause all of the above. This is where science fails us. The problem is that mobile phones are still too new to know the long-term effects on human. Mobile phones give of a radiation of radio frequency round 10MHz to 300Ghz. But so do other appliances. Why does mobiles especially get put in the picture of being hazardous? Soon it will be clear whether the radio frequency emissions from mobiles cause health effect.
One reason to consider the introduction of cell phones in learning is to promote digital etiquette, a concept that is foreign to most people. According to Liz Kolb (the author of “Toys to Tools”) Digital etiquette is “a basic set of rules you should follow in order to make the internet better for others, and better for you.” Kolb says in her book that “an educator’s job is to help students navigate and stay safe in their media world”. Students often are unaware to the consequences of their use and misuse of technology. Currently, many students do not overthink about protecting their own privacy. For example 55% of students do not care whether the digital material they use is copyrighted. Students ages 10 to 17 often do not take in appropriate cell phone use. According to Kolb “While nine out of ten 10- to 17- year olds believe that they are courteous on their cell phones, 52% admit to sending text messages at the movie theater, while 28% admit to sending texts at the dinner table.” These statistics show that teens are unaware with cell pho...
Cell phones may be the top of devices those distract students in class. The ubiquitous problem originates from the cell phones. I’m also a high school student, I can see some of my classmates use it for texting every day in class instead of listening to the teacher. Students also use it for playing video games, listening to music, watching videos. And definitely, while you are playing with your phones, you will not be able to absorb the lesson that the teacher is trying to teach. It’s not easy to do two things at the same time, except you are super. Have you ever tried to draw a circle by your left hand and draw a rectangle by the other hand simultaneously? When you do two things or more at the same time, your brain will just focus on one thing and naturally ignore the other. As Peter Bregman wrote in the Harvard Business Review Blog Network that multitasking can reduce productivity by as much as 40%, increase stress and cause a 10-point fall in IQ.
One reason that cell phones should be banned from classrooms is because students who use them fall into a daze of distracted learning. Classes are taught by teachers, whose goal is to give the student an educational experience, learning things they will need to apply to their later life. However, students on their cellphones are distracted from their learning and never use the lessons taught. Over 2,000 cellphone disturbances were reported in New York City in the past school year (Backstory). This means that over 2,000 people had issues with cellphones interrupting classroom discussi...
Cell phones should not be allowed in schools because kids are always wondering what their friends are doing and what is happening outside of school. If they have access to their phones all day, then they will be glued to them. Phones are more entertaining than a teacher lecturing at the front of the class. Most students will start to zone out, or fall asleep, when a teacher starts a lesson. It is always easier to focus on something when you are interested in it. For example, it is much easier to remember a song rather than a study guide. Twitter, where kids post what is going on, is more interesting than algebra or biology. Social media is a watering hole out in the safari. Everyone wants to be there, around all of the activity.
Scientists also say that cell phones don’t cause cancerous diseases well my opinion is that we should reduce the time we spend on our cell phones, don’t be on it all the time and try to slowly avoid cell phones and use handsets.
To conclude i would like to say that regulatory agencies have concluded cell phones are safe, cell phone radiation is non-ionizing and studies indicate that there are long term risks but we need more data on intense sustained usage, and cell phones can be used more safely by only using them when signal strength is strong and the transmitter doesn’t have to transmit as much energy.
