Throughout the course I was taking in writing argumentative essays I have improved my writing in many ways. While having classes and doing assignments I have reflected on my writing style and tried to have an insight on my work and result is the difference between my first and third essay. I have tried to enhance my writing technically and in style. Throughout the course the main technique I learned is that how to make a strong topic sentence. To start my essay with a sentence which gives a specific sense about what essay actually conveys.
When I first begin with 100 word essay, , I was not exactly beyond any doubt about my qualities and shortcomings in writing. I could compose a not too bad exposition that contains a presentation, inventive and one of a kind proposal, topic sentences presenting each new supporting thought, convincing exploration proof, and fitting language structure and vocabulary. Writing has always been one of my qualities, yet it was trying to make that beginning stride past the secondary school, five-section writing frame that contracted my thoughts for so long. Moving past this structure, then again, has significantly opened my brain. My considerations are currently ready to be more minds boggling in light of the fact that I have figured out how to maintain a sensible argument in a composed way. My written work has turned out to be progressively more succinct and I no more have space for included "fluff". Another change is my capacity to call attention to numerous complexities inside of content, rather than adhering to uneven contentions in my essay.
I am more knowledgeable about invention, arrangement, style, and delivery, all in which create a masterful piece of text. A few examples, I have learned to organize and construct my thoughts and ideas clearer. I have been taught to use stronger transitions and focus more on the delivery and content of the body element of essays. Further, the instructions and advice I have received throughout this term have influenced my understanding of the purpose of writing. My outlook on writing has been modified by shifting my perception of writing from, writing to prove I am a good writer by perceiving it as using “fluffy” or BIG words to impress my audience. I grew to understanding that good writing’s purpose is to engage the writer by mind-striking ideas and arguments, which therefore will prove and title me as a “good writer”.
In our modern society, we have forgotten the art of writing. When we write, we think to ourselves, the longer the sentence, the more intelligent I will sound. Many may say it is by writing long sentences. But is it all that true? In this piece of writing I would like to focus on an essay written by Verlyn Klinkenborg, Several Short Sentences About Writing. Intro Essay Many things are factors when it comes to making a good piece of writing, some of the things may seem easy, anyone can do them but other things are more complicated than you think. My style of writing is way different from the style of writing of my peers, some of us may be confident writers and others of us not as much. When it comes to being a student writer we should see progress in our writing as we move forward in this class.
I’m going to be bluntly honest with you, I am not a great writer. There isn’t any point in sugar coating the truth, especially since my writing abilities are being tested just in writing this paper. While it is obvious I am not the author of a bestselling novel that is ok because I am a business major who is pursuing a career in technology. This year has helped me achieve a better understanding of my style of writing and how I can use that for future employment. Reflective Paper As an English major, writing had been one of the strengths and it was challenging. Throw it back in high school, five-paragraph essay was so long from my ideas, but now I able to have greatly opened my mind. My thoughts are more an organized and learned how to write.
Right from the start of this class, I was curious as to what I would learn about compared to the previous semester. I know that my writing skills are weak and I was taking this class in hopes of having them improve greatly. I was worried that this class was going to be a big challenge for me, and I have found myself to be right. My writing skills are weak and I have a hard time understanding most concepts within English as I always have struggled. The assignments came and routinely they were completed as I waited my grade that I feared so greatly.
Reflection Essay Introduction to Writing has helped me greatly over the past eight weeks, providing me with necessary writing skills, improving my grammar, writing mechanics, and much more. I took this course simply because my advisor recommended that I should, and it was also a requirement. Initially, I anticipated Introduction to Writing to just brush up on the writing skills I already possessed, but I must admit that I have learned a lot more than I expected to. I commenced Introduction to Writing with mere high school level writing skills, but after carefully taking this course I have learned countless, essential writing skills that enable me to write on the college level, such as, writing thesis statements, using APA format, citing sources, and using correct grammar and mechanics. The first thing I learned in Week one of Introduction to Writing was how to correctly create a thesis statement.
I register for this course without knowing what challenges or outcomes would transpire throughout the semester. Nevertheless, I understood that in order to be successful in the class it would take a great deal of determination and motivation. Of course, several of my college courses have involved some type of writing whether it is short summaries, journal keeping, research, or long topic papers. The writing assignments in the past have been fairly easy, however, this class introduces a new spectrum of writing subjects. For instance, we don’t often write letters to faculty members, doctors, or write from a different persons perspective.
