Reflecting on Research Project: What knowledge and skills are you gaining? Which of these are new and which already existed? Through research project, I have developed my knowledge and attained new skills. Prior to the research project, I had minimal understanding of anxiety, however, after some planning and research development my knowledge had vastly developed throughout research project. Through conducting several research processes, I gained skills and knowledge that I previously did not have. I learnt to effectively manage my time by creating a timeline, which allowed me to keep up to date by breaking down each section of the research project into smaller components that I can complete within a reasonable amount of time. I set myself …show more content…
By creating these tables I was able to effectively complete my research processes with minimal difficulties. Most of the research processes were conducted as I had initially planned. I began my preliminary research process in order to effectively obtain basic information to build upon my knowledge of the topic, which was initially were limited. I had originally planned to obtain the preliminary information through online articles, however this was quite difficult due to my limited knowledge, therefore I chose to view online videos. This was much more effective than reading online articles. Then I began reading and annotating several online articles to extensively research the topic and expand my knowledge within the fields of mental illnesses. This research process also allowed me to determine whether the information present on the website is credible, reliable and useful. In addition to the online research processes, another research method was utilized to obtain information; this was done through conducting an interview with a psychologist. This process was very successful in allowing me to validate and clarify any questions that I had regarding anxiety. Therefore, by planning the research processes that I would conduct, I was able to successfully to complete all sections of the research project within a reasonable amount of time and with minimal difficulties. Also by planning the processes, I was also able to develop and change my guiding questions whilst developing my research. Hence, my research skills have improved substantially through research
Through my extensive research on depression I have learned a lot of new things. I have learned about the many forms of depression and treatment for depression. I have also learned a little about what is believed to go on chemically in the brain of a clinically depressed person. I was also able to partially determine what sort of role genetics, chemicals and personal influences in the brain. Though I was unable to determine exactly how environmental and personal stress can cause a chemical imbalance in a person, I was even able to speculate about this issue and determine some theories of my own on why and how this may happen.
The story The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster says that “what you learn today, for no reason at all, will help you discover all the wonderful secrets of tomorrow.” That quote describes how learning new things is a great factor because later on in the future, it’ll help you figure out something you didn’t know before. There is many things that a person can learn to do in just a matter of minutes. For others it may take up to several weeks just to learn how to do that specific task.
What does it mean to learn a new skill and go from "novice" to "expert"?
I face some anxiety and health problems. I feel embarrassed and stressed because I don’t have time to accomplish my goals, because I have a great part of time in my leisure time; take for instance, I spend lot of time talking on...
In freshman seminar, I learned so much that could help me out with any class in college, with maybe the exception of science. I acquired the knowledge of how to write a self-evaluation, a biography, and a resume. Critiquing myself in a self-evaluation is better than trying to watch myself in the mirror and fix my mistakes on the spot. Taking the time to write out notes and learn as I go helps me remember what areas I need to improve in. Even though I gained an excessive amount of knowledge from freshman seminar, I still struggle with writing papers due to uninspired high school classes and the inability to reach into expanded detail. An important subject that was greatly appreciated in freshman seminar was eating habits for dancers. Eating
How much of what you have learned so far is new to you, as opposed to what you already knew?
When assessing my current writing ability, I recognize my ability to efficiently relay a message; however, I struggle with using strong phrases and advanced writing. When I begin drafting a paper, translating my thoughts and ideas into words comes naturally, and I do not get lost in the process. As mentioned previously, the general areas that need improvement include using strong vocabulary to convey a professional level of writing. Also, I believe that I need to work on transition phrases between ideas.
The process of completeing my research task taught me many valuable lessons. In compiling the literature review I learnt how to filter information, as well as how to use citations. The method and results section showed me how to transfer information from labels into suitable graphs and tables, in order to make comparisons and analysises. I learnt how to critically examine graphs and tables, and draw accurate and educated conclusions when completing the discussion section. Through this project, I also realised the importance of reflecting back on any limitations encountered inorder to learn from your mistakes, and find improvements for further research. In addition, I learnt how to reference sources correctly.
By observing and learning from them, I managed to pick up tips and learned different types of skills, from learning to communicate and deal with other companies, to reading and deciphering many different types of plans.
In general, I consider my greatest strength in the case study tutorials to be a confidence and willingness to contribute, which is certainly something I have struggled with in the past (during A levels, etc.). Having gained experience in group work and in leading a group project in my foundation year at Keele, I now find it far easier to speak up in these situations. I consider myself to generally be a very quiet person, so it has taken a lot of development to get to the point where I am able to speak out loudly and clearly. I am pleased with what I have achieved in this regard.
By seeking and sharing knowledge. There is something to be said about being active and a continuous learner. However, what good is it by growing smarter if you
...rks. In a word, the MA experience was considered to be a bridge that combines the student learning with working skills, it would be of great help for my future career.
Throughout this term, my fellow classmates and I have had a chance to participate in a group project with two or three of our peers. The general topic was a vivid problem in a industry. Our class had a very wide and diverse sets of topics: from Styrofoam, to industrial hacking, to corruption in an influential international organization like FIFA, and so many more. Our group decided to develop a project named “Outsourcing and the price we pay for brands”. The name itselves is somewhat self-explanatory, however the problem is so much more complicated and interesting. In this paper, many struggles and concerns, of the group and of my my own, will be unfolded as I reflect the progress of this project.
When I first entered high school, I never had any indication that all my expectations would be shortly dissipated. When I thought of high school it had been the whole 90’s point of view where there were the cool kids and the cliques and the bullying and the jocks and so on. To my surprise however, people were more than their supposed position in the system, they were human, they were all free and all- like me, experiencing a brand new start to their lives.
