Individual Reflection for the Final Project.
Throughout this term, my fellow classmates and I have had a chance to participate in a group project with two or three of our peers. The general topic was a vivid problem in a industry. Our class had a very wide and diverse sets of topics: from Styrofoam, to industrial hacking, to corruption in an influential international organization like FIFA, and so many more. Our group decided to develop a project named “Outsourcing and the price we pay for brands”. The name itselves is somewhat self-explanatory, however the problem is so much more complicated and interesting. In this paper, many struggles and concerns, of the group and of my my own, will be unfolded as I reflect the progress of this project.

To elaborate, by mentioning intercultural understanding, I meant that each cultural group has different ways to communicate. For example, Western culture encourages people to be up-front and straight-forward with their communication; contrastly, people who are influenced by Eastern culture might be less outspoken about their ideas and pay a lot of attention to nonverbal language of the people around them. Culture is something that if one have never encountered or exposed to it, he or she would never know. I hope that after this project, besides of the knowledge we gained from the research itselves, all four of us would improve even more on our intercultural and interpersonal communication skills. Because at the end of the day, the knowledge that one have learnt might be forgotten, but all of the skills that one have gained will stay for a very long time.
In conclusion, I really did enjoy the this group project. We had great group chemistry, an interesting topic, an effective and consistent preparation period. That sounds like a formula to a successful group project to me. This is probably the most enjoyable group work experience for me at Augustana so far. If I could, I would do it

Intercultural competence is an important ability that seems almost necessary for every person to have. This means that people can properly communicate with other people that are from different cultures, values, customs, beliefs, and so on. This also means that there is a certain degree of knowledge, skill, and attitude towards different cultures and accepting them even if they are different from what you are used to. Having all of these important skills means that you are interculturally competent. The reason behind myself taking the class communication in the multicultural world is to gain a better understanding of all the cultures that are out there. Since August of 2015, I, along with 47 other seniors, had an opportunity to participate in a year long project before graduation called The Senior Project. Initially, I did not know whether this project would be a beneficial experience for me. Also, I did not know if I would learn something that I never knew before. The Senior Project was a challenging activity that allowed me to use my academic skills to research a complex issue and find effective solutions. Not only was this project a great experience, but I learned something new that has change my perspective of the world and international issues. Through this experience, I became a more effective scholar, researcher, and person through the various assignments and activities.
Ever since I started high school here at Seaman High, I have been taught how to write an essay one certain way. In high school, we were provided with outlines that helped us write sentence by sentence, and the teacher explained thoroughly what was to be written. When I started EN101, I was expecting the class to be difficult because of the fact that many people had told me that college writing was so much more different and complex than high school writing. I expected that I would have to completely alter the way that I was taught to write; in fact, I did have to alter the way that I was previously writing because I was writing at a high school level and little effort was put into my past essays. This is something that would not pass in college

Throughout this semester, our class has read four powerful and influential pieces by James Baldwin, Gloria Anzaldua, Haunani-Kay Trask, and Nick Bear. The first piece we ever looked at was Baldwin’s “If Black English Isn’t a Language, Then Tell Me, What Is?” This was our first writing assignment, focusing on using generative writing to get our ideas from our heads onto the paper, to then develop later. However, we were still supposed to focus on the PAR criteria, in order to get an idea on how we would need to develop our writing and our own pieces to pass the class. One of the first mistakes I made as a writer was as follows: “I really enjoyed the latter quote, on page 263. Interpersonal communication is expressed through verbal and nonverbal messages, feelings, and an exchange of information on a face-to-face level. The textbook, Interplay: The Process of Interpersonal Communication, states that: “Four features distinguish communication in highly interpersonal relationships from less personal ones” (Adler, Rosenfeld and Proctor 15). Humans have been communicating since four million years. On the other hand, the birth of culture is estimated to have taken place about 35,000 years ago. Today, both culture and communication have evolved considerably and have become interdependent of one another, to the point that communication is considered to be a product of culture. Thus, our own culture has a deep impact on our thoughts and behaviors. Since each culture has its distinct aspects, intercultural communication can be the cause of conflict and disorder. There are three main issues which are at the root of the problem of intercultural miscommunication : language as a barrier, cultural diversity and ethnocentrism. I will analyze these three notions in situations in which intercultural communication is frequent such as : the workplace, the classroom and vacation trips.
As time moves on, I feel like every experience I went through is an opportunity and an eye opener for me. There are definitely great and terrible experiences for me, but I wouldn't necessary take the bad ones as like traumas or things I would not look back to. I personally feel like all the ups and downs of my experiences shaped who I am as a human today. Also, writing because it is a way for me to express myself and to learn how to improve the comprehension of english. It is very important for me to have a great knowledge of english because I am imagining my future teaching children that have disabilities and/or trying to learn english as their secondary language. So this writing course definitely fit my plans but I hope later on in the future,
