is like to run a state park all in one. Some of my duties as the Operations Intern included running the visitor center, assisting with interpretive programs, answering basic questions about the park, park maintenance and basically helping other staff with any other projects they had planned for the day. I thoroughly enjoyed the days I got out of the visitor center and cleared trails and helped the CCM crews. Although I enjoyed being the Operations Intern, I enjoyed most the shifts I worked as a Security Ranger. After Security Ranger Training at Camp Ripley, I was able to pick up more shifts working security. As a Security Ranger I ensured park safety, assisted local law enforcement, enforced park rules, answered questions and assisted with
I also have experience as a shift sergeant where I was in charge of posting 124 officers a day for a swing shift and ensuring that minimum staffing requirements were met. As a shift sergeant I also had to complete officer's evaluations annually, occasionally write performance cards and also ensure completion of on the job training forms. I also have had to schedule leave for the officers and senior officers with respect to institutional staffing needs. I have had to respond to all major incidents and sign the meal report for dinner
Apart from skilled volunteer roles, there are many equally vital roles where you can expand your skills and experience, for example in food service, gardening, reception, mentoring.

There are two categories of Park Rangers, enforcement and interpretation (Careers).
During my time in placement I got the opportunity to take part in fun activities with the service users which enabled me to build relationships with each of them and also developed my commu...
For the longest time I could not decide on a major and a career to study throughout college. When I came to Georgia Southern University I discovered that they had a major that was very interesting to me. Sport Management id the ideal major for my interest and me. Since I love sports I figured that this would be the career for me. A degree in Sport Management helps to prepare for success in sport related occupations.
One of my favorite Task was defensive tactics because, me and another intern was able to take part in the simulator. It gave me a clips into how I would feel to be a part of the Patrol. On my second day of me being a State Highway Patrol intern my Trooper took me to the communication center, where I got to see for myself the "heart"
I went to a private college called Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Where I did my four years of Undergraduate for Religion with a minor in youth ministry. Going to Union College led me to want to know more about people and the school provided us opportunities to work at different summer camp, I decided to go to Glacier View Ranch in Ward, Colorado. The job requirements were for the counselor to take care of 8 girls from ages 7 to 18. A normal day consisted of taking them to their activities, having a blast and helping them understand that we need to respect and care for each other. Every week a new different group of girls would come in and it would be a different situation with each group for example in one week it could be most of their
My experience as an Administrative Assistant, Systems Coordinator, Receptionist and other supportive roles has allowed me to gain experience in providing excellent customer service while multitasking.
The Unites States Marshals service has been a very beneficial internship. The Marshals were all very nice and informative. They had me taking care of the front desk. More days than not, there was filing of medical papers for the year 2015 and the year 2016. Some people have a large stack of papers because they are always needing medical attention while in custody. The next thing I do is answer the phone. This happens to be one of the more interesting tasks. You really never know who it is going to be or what they are going to say. If needed, I transfer the individuals to other people whom can help them. I also attend court hearings throughout the day. These hearings can be from many different
I began, initially at CSM, as a volunteer archives assistant, learning how best to organise, accession and catalogue items in the collection. I have proven myself to be a committed, capable and reliable intern, and am responsible for assisting the curator and senior members of staff with their activities and
Which university will you attend? What are you planning on majoring in? Are you going to move out after high school? What are your career plans? Questions I hear daily, yet remain unanswered. This is just a small part of the struggles we teenagers face every single day. Balancing school, extra curriculars, work and a social life all while maintaining physical and mental health proves to be practically impossible these days. Although our parents try their best to make our transition into adulthood as seamless as possible, it happens in the blink of an eye. One day you’re being treated like a child and the next you’re expected to be a well rounded young adult able to provide for yourself and handle the weight of the real world.
As I am preparing for a new chapter in my life, I have put a lot thought in about what I want out of life and what to look forward to as I get older. In order for one to achieve anything, they need to set goals to reach for. I have a handful of goals for my future, short term and long term, that I will actively work towards in my college years and beyond. In my time at UW Eau Claire, I plan to be involved and engaged in student activities on campus. Being active will help me meet new people, build a better resume, and have fun at college. At UWEC, I would like to get involved in anything musical, along with various clubs and Greek life. Similarly, another goal of mine is to have a job on campus. Having a job will not only help me make some
My ultimate goal is to receive my Doctoral degree in social psychology from University of California Berkeley or Stanford University. After receiving my Doctoral degree, I would like to pursue a career in academia by teaching and participating in research. I have also considered a career in research separate from academia, where I would be free to focus on research and less on teaching. My main career goal is to continue to do research and further knowledge in social psychology. The social psychology program at San Francisco State University would help me achieve this goal because they have a strong emphasis on research. The program requires research under a faculty member in their lab, starting one’s first day in the program. The program also
Ever since I was a little girl when asked what I want to be when I grew up I rapidly responded by a model, or an actress. Most kids probably said a scientist, doctor, lawyer, teacher or even an astronaut. I was set on being an entertainer and nothing else was even remotely appealing. My role model growing up was Raven-Symone and she heavily influenced my career goals. I wanted to be everything she was, mind you I was like 9. She could sing, dance, and act and that was very fascinating to me. I can vividly remember being in elementary school and completing assignments where we had to discuss our future careers and doing arts and craft that related to them. The old projects were used to show our growth throughout the school year and we presented
During the course of time, I’ve learned many useful things that have led me to be the person I want to be today. From college classes to work experiences, I now have the ability to exceed upon internship experiences that can shape my perspective on life. The purpose of this paper is to summarize, reflect, analyze, and synthesize on my internship experience at the Children’s Home of Reading-Acute Partial Hospitalization Program.
