What is a mission statement and why is it important?
“A sentence describing a company's function, markets and competitive advantages; a short written statement of your business goals and philosophies” (Entrepreneur, 2014) A mission statement is basically something which outlines the purpose of the business and states what the organisation is selling and what customers will the products be directed to.
Tesco’s mission and vision is ‘to be the most highly valued business by: the customers we serve, the communities in which we operate, our loyal and committed colleagues and of course, our shareholders.’ (Businesscasestudies.co.uk, 2014) In other words Tesco wants to make sure that they are fulfilling customers’ needs and wants and they want to be sure that their customers are satisfied with the products that they are purchasing. They are not only concerned about their customers but they also care about their employees and they want them to enjoy working at Tesco. They want the company to grow and be successful and they want to win locally.
Tesco’s Aims & Objectives
According to (Tesco.com, 2014) Tesco’s objectives are offer customers a wide range of products which includes branded and Tesco own best value product and thy want to make sure they are offering their customers the best quality products. The first point that Tesco wants to achieve is meeting the needs and wants of their customers because if needs and wants are met then they know the organisation will be successful automatically.
