Preparing for life after high school requires success in many different areas. Since I have personally excelled in athletics and academics, I have a good start for my life ahead of me. I never realized how much succeeding in school and sports would actually help me. Just by working hard I have been given so many opportunities; for instance scholarships, different school options, and jobs. During school, I learned real-life problems and solutions that will help me in college and during my adult life. I have learned things in schools such as time management, the importance of challenging myself, and social skills. I have personally never won a championship or state title in a sport but in my opinion that has just prepared me more. Athletics give people the opportunity to compete against other kids their age and have fun doing it, but there is more to it than that. Just some things that athletics have taught me is how to work with others, and how to be humble. Athletics have taught me to work well with others on and off the court, field, etc. Being able to communicate and work well with teammates is a huge part of sports. If I can work well with others in athletics then after high school is all said and done I should have a good grasp on how to work with others in the real world. Secondly, athletics have taught me how to be humble. Sports and life are all about being humble, bragging about everything done right is never going to get me anywhere. That is where athletics come into play, I learned how to be humble when playing sports. When I would get an award and other athletes didn’t or my team won and the other lost.
