My high school career has had a huge impact on the person that I have become. High School showed me people skills in the extracurricular activities I am and was involved in, taught me real life skills, exposed my interests, and, most importantly, prepared me for my next journey, college. I have experienced first-hand how education can change a person’s life. My parents went to college when my sister and I were in elementary school. Even though the journey pushed them past their comfort zones, they continued on and now we are more financially stable. But in order to further myself with education, I need financial aid because my parents do not have enough finances to get me through college on their own.
I am writing this letter because I need financial help to become an Occupational Therapist. Since the beginning of this school year I have wanted to be an Occupational Therapist. I believe that this career genuinely helps people in one of

As you can see, I have been heavily involved with my school throughout my school career. My extracurricular activities are the utmost importance to how my character has developed. I also have interest in music, volunteering at my local food distribution, and going on missions trips. All of these extracurricular activities have contributed to the person I have become. When I started my club Matthew 5:14, I faced many oppositions, but by being persistent and continuing forward I got the club started. I have been blessed with the opportunity of being a good impact on my school with this club. Although the club I started has had the biggest impact on me, many of the other extracurricular activities exposed me to my peers, which I needed. The activities I have done throughout my high school career have made a lasting impression on my life
Having the college experience is everyone’s dream, especially High School students who are ready to get out into the world and explore. College is very important for furthering someone’s career, but no one thinks about all the costs and the stress that comes along with college. Tuition fees and costs are increasing more and more each year. Now days it feels like you have to be a millionaire just to attend a good college and get a good degree in what you were attending for. There are some students that do not have a lot of money and live on very little things with their parents, but indeed are very smart and have a 4.0 GPA. Those students are the ones that are unable to attend college if they cannot afford it. College tuition is too expensive,
People across the world participate in recovery programs every day. Dedicated people in professions, such as occupational therapy, work to help each person regain his or her ability to engage in everyday activities. One wishing to pursue a career in occupational therapy would first need to evaluate the career and the significant effects on themselves and the clients.
Occupational therapy is also known as the dynamic and developing healthcare profession that deals with people in ways of regaining their skills required for the every days of life. For a very long time I have always had the desire to achieve my dreams in becoming an occupational therapist. I am very well equipped with creativity, flexibility and the ability to aid people in solving their every day’s life challenges they get involved in. Occupational therapy is quite involving and needs good strategies and skills for one to be successful in the program.
Since I was in elementary school, a career path in the medical field always caught my eye. I would want to pursue a career as a nurse because I want a job that is inspiring, challenging, and rewarding; I want to be able to make a difference in people’s lives every day. My mother is a registered nurse and just from the way she talks about her patients, I can see how much gratification and fulfillment she feels from her job. From a young age, I have always wanted a job that would leave a lasting impression on others. After some research, volunteering, and years of thought in what career interests me the most in the medical field, I feel certain that nursing is a profession that will fit me well.
You ever ask someone where they see themselves in life? You may get a variety of different answers. Overtime I went through many different career changes cause I couldn’t really settle with one. Well when it came to wanting to be an Occupational Therapist I grew ecstatic. It wasn’t about the amount of money that could be made it was about the fact that I could help children of all ages to conquer things they struggled with before. Occupational therapists goals are to serve clients to get them back to their working environment successfully.
For the longest time I was unsure, and apprehensive about what profession I wanted to pursue. The medical field particularly intrigued me, from physical therapy to therapeutic recreation. However, occupational therapy is what caught my attention originating from my grandfather.
Nothing will deter me from achieving my goal of becoming an Occupational Therapist. I have
Out of hundreds of thousands of different jobs available in the country, the attractiveness of Anesthesiology has caught my attention. Ever since discovering the career and its rigorous requirements, I have been trying my hardest to achieve it. To become an Anesthesiologist requires dedication, responsibility and passion and I believe I acquire those assets. It requires demanding education and many years of pure dedication to have this occupation. University of Central Florida provides this requirement to become an Anesthesiologist, so I have decided to meticulously try my hardest to be admitted to this university.
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”-Marla Robinson. Occupational Therapists guide and support their patients in a planned treatment program to help them to learn how to live a daily, independent life. Occupational Therapists employ a substantial amount of leisure and social skills. This is an excellent profession to look into. I chose Occupational Therapy because growing up I always admired my mom’s career as a speech therapist. I would go to work with her and help her as much as I could as an eight year old child. As I have grown up now, I realized my dream to be in the therapy field is just in my reach. I plan to job shadow an Occupational Therapist and look into therapy courses at nearby colleges to get my dream on the right track. Occupational Therapy includes a rigorous course of study and excellent benefits for those who wish to promote skills for independent daily living.
The career as an occupational therapist (OT) became not only my goal, but my passion after I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus in 2010. Suddenly, the disease temporarily took over my mobility and I had to receive physical therapy. My experience with a team of rehabilitation therapist was incredibly positive and successful. Instantly, I knew what I wanted, for my future and the future of injured and disabled patients. Soon after my recovery, I began shadowing at a pediatric outpatient rehabilitation clinic. I was a witness to an impactful treatment that was both creative and beneficial for the patients, a branch of healthcare known as occupational therapy. I was immediately inspired to help, managing my illness has given me the background to be understanding and empathetic towards the patients, associate with their needs, and motivate them to reach toward their goals.
During recent observation hours, I heard some of the most influential words of advice from an occupational therapist which was “Occupational therapy is fun.” It is a simple thought, yet it is so true. Occupational Therapy is not a healthcare field where you just prescribe medications. It is a career where you help older adults enjoy the activities they love again. It is a career where you help children be attentive at school and confident at the dinner table. It is a career where you dedicate time to understanding and encouraging patients in ways that are specific to their needs and goals. With occupational therapy, you create an individualistic approach to a patient’s plan of care. It is a career where you make a real difference, and because I want to create change and help others, I want to be an occupational therapist. I am so excited by the diverse and meaningful nature of the work, and I cannot wait to begin this journey.
We are all born to live, not to simply exist. Experiences in life have taught me there is a purpose behind each individual’s existence. Discovering this purpose, has been challenging. My educational and professional background have helped shape my immediate and long term professional goals. Becoming an Occupational Therapist has become both my immediate and long-term goals in life.
As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and after school activities, I will become a well-rounded student. During the past years of my high school career I have participated and received awards in the following: Cheerleading (eight years), twice as captain, '97 -'98 Varsity Letter in Cheerleading, '98 AIM scholar, Who's Who Among American Cheerleaders, and '98 Academic Excellence Award while participating in Virginia High School League Interscholastic Activities. I also belonged to the following clubs: S.A.D.D. club (two years), second year as secretary, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Choir Club, and Computer Club. In the year '99 -'00 I received awards in the following classes: Computer Applications, Spanish I, World Geography, and Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry. I also received an award for Most Encouraging Student. I currently belong to the Hiking and Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Environmental Awareness Club. In addition, this year I participate in a program called Read With A Friend. In this program I, along with a group of other students, go to the near by elementary school to read to a class of students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
I’ve been going to the gym to lift weights for around three years, and it has played a huge role in my physical and mental health. Through weight lifting, I became interested in how the body works and the science behind exercise, and I knew that one day I could use this passion to help others. After talking with my parents, they told me that physical or occupational therapy would be great career ideas for me. Both of these career paths have been in the back of my mind for quite some time, but I didn’t know which one I wanted to pursue more, until a few months ago. At the gym, one of the employees who works at the desk was in an accident and is now in a wheelchair.
I believe individuals live the highest quality of life by being as independent and functional as possible. When one loses their physical ability to participate in the activities of everyday life due to an injury or illness, it can also have an adverse effect on their mental health and well-being. Occupational Therapy is essential for people to improve and regain the skills needed to live life to the fullest. I want to pursue Occupational Therapy as a career because it is a rewarding profession that works with individuals to improve independence and live a better life given their circumstances. My immense passion to help people and the skills I have gained throughout my educational, professional, and healthcare experiences will allow me
