Group Research Project Reflection Essay Having more than one mind working on a project will improve the quality of the project because although some members of the group may miss an error or not think of an idea, another group member might catch the idea or error and fix the issue. Working in a group for the research project was a great learning experience and it definitely helped the project get done faster, have less errors, and it taught me about collaboration with others. One thing working in a group has taught me is that work gets done at a more rapid pace when more than one person is working on the project. My group had a total of 12 slides in our power point presentation which were split up evenly between group members. One member was in charge of the introduction, background, and the conclusion of our project. Two members were in charge of the six middle slides about the background and information about terrorism and why it can’t be justified. I was in charge of the refutations section of the project which I ended up getting an A on. The division of work helped us get the project done in a timely and orderly fashion for our presentation which wouldn’t have been done in time if one member had tried to single handedly taken on the task. …show more content…
I ended up catching several errors that my group members had made on their part of the project that could’ve negatively affected their grade and the group’s grade. One of the group members even corrected me on a spelling error I hade made in the title of one of my slides which would’ve stuck out when we were presenting. Bottom line, having multiple pairs of eyes reading over a project can help improve the quality of the project by finding errors that need to be corrected or words or phrases that can be replaced with more complex
I will be discussing about my reflection on the Six Week Group Content/Intervention Mid-term project and my internship. The assignment is on Psychoeducational and Counseling Groups for adolescents who are encountering dating violence from their partner. I will be discussing the paper and the critical knowledge that I obtained after completing the assignment.
To be able to recognize things that will help the interdisciplinary team to collaborate and communicate with each other.
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
This is only my third class in the Wilkes Instructional Media Program but I can say with certainty that it was the hardest. The class is about Project Based Learning so it only makes sense that part of it would be doing a project. But doing so on the computer with people you have not met and probably never will meet makes it hard. Add to that the fact you’re all teaching in different grade levels and you’re starting with two strikes against you before you even start. At least, that’s how I felt.
For our second piece of assessment this semester we participated in a debate. We were required to produce an argument in favour of either the plaintiff or defendant regarding an area of law. The debate was assessed in three sections which included delivering an oral argument, producing a written outline of our argument and working effectively as a team.
The intention of this essay is to demonstrate an understanding of reflective practice using academic theories of reflection, to be able to enhance my reflection regarding a group interview, which involved three of us gaining an understanding of a service users experience with social workers and an individual interview with a service user surrounding them telling their story. I will also demonstrate how the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) domains, the HCPC Standards of Proficiency (SOP), and HCPC Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students guided this interview process. This will then allow me to establish the ways in which what I have learned can be used within a future practice. I will be incorporating Kolb’s Experiential Learning
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
In order to gain some purpose while working in a group, I know it can be challenging task to do because every group member is required to agree and cooperate. I am privileged to become a part of a group and completed our task successfully. Our group consists of 5 members and we experienced the stages of group development along with which different roles being considered. Our group formed with the common interest of competing and representing ourselves as competent and knowledgeable. The storming phase involved a trial being held to determine the capabilities of each other and positions were found to be disputed due to which we voted on leader of team. In the norming stage, roles of every group member have been stated and identified with the
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
Throughout this group project, I had an opportunity to observe and reflect how my personality traits contributed to and hindered the success of the team. According to the Big Five Model, I identify myself as low on extroversion, moderate on neuroticism as well as openness and high on agreeableness and conscientiousness.
Community projects are well known for giving students the opportunity to be able to express them selves and learn new tasks and responsibilities. Although, through out my community project path I found myself finding the right lace to learn and achieve the goals as well as the responsibilities and the role of the experience. Yet, the project wasn’t an easy project because I had to deal with different case mangers and different clients. However, through trying and working on my goals, I was to develop my learning experience in term of making healthy relationship with my clients.
...rks. In a word, the MA experience was considered to be a bridge that combines the student learning with working skills, it would be of great help for my future career.
We had a meeting where I had to divide the work equally and listen to their suggestion about how they want to work on the project and we've set a deadline of our own and we had to be committed to it which was 3 days before the original due date of the project which a great idea because we had enough time to review the work and correct the mistakes. Moreover, group work taught me how to manage time, how to divide work equally and improved my listening skills.
Throughout this term, my fellow classmates and I have had a chance to participate in a group project with two or three of our peers. The general topic was a vivid problem in a industry. Our class had a very wide and diverse sets of topics: from Styrofoam, to industrial hacking, to corruption in an influential international organization like FIFA, and so many more. Our group decided to develop a project named “Outsourcing and the price we pay for brands”. The name itselves is somewhat self-explanatory, however the problem is so much more complicated and interesting. In this paper, many struggles and concerns, of the group and of my my own, will be unfolded as I reflect the progress of this project.
What knowledge and skills are you gaining? Which of these are new and which already existed?
