1. Why do you want to be a committee member for The Fashion Show 2016? It was a pleasure to be a part of a large student-run organization last year. As an Art Committee member, I got a small sample of all the efforts that are put into the development and production of a fashion show, let alone the Iowa State Fashion Show. After reflecting my experience and possibilities the show has to offer, I decided to apply to be on a committee I want to know more about. Next year I hope to be elected as a director in one of the committees. Rather than delving into a director position my second year, I want to gain a semesters worth of experience. For the purpose that I will have a more encompassing understanding of another committee as well as the roles …show more content…
The workshops, dress rehearsal, and all the enthusiasm for the program had solidified my choice to choose this major. Last year I was on the art committee. That was a great opportunity to do professional work. I conceived a poster for the emcee auditions. I used my prior experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to creatively compose a poster that related to the theme of the show. I also took part in the development of the art program; I had the responsibility to formulate the spread for the guest designer. I understood that this was an important section in the program. I communicated with the directors to ensure the pages were put together precisely how Ali Rahimi requested them to be. I used social media to promote the show, as well as assisted during The Fashion Week activities. It was an excellent year of introducing the production of a fashion show. It got me more excited for future involvement within the …show more content…
How do you feel about working in a team environment? What role do you think you take on in a group situation? I enjoy being on a team when everyone is working towards a common goal. I see greater benefits and rewards from cooperating with others. Most of our lives, we will work with other people; I like to embrace the opportunities to work in a group setting. You get the task done effectively while overcoming obstacles; it’s a continuous learning experience of collaborating, conflict resolution, and creative thinking. I especially relish reflecting how each individual’s strengths were used to enhance the activity. I tend to take on any role in a group situation. I prefer to be assigned a leader or captain because I like to delegate tasks, check progress, and monitor the overall development of a project. Guaranteeing a job or activity meets expectations is important to me. I also know when to step back. I am willing to do anything without hesitation. If someone is taking charge, I will do my duty. I won’t impose on their leadership position. However, if they are not taking being a true leader, I will take the responsibility to guide the group. For example, in a recent project, the assigned captains were not asking for updates or contributing well to the team efforts. I then assumed the position to manage the team. Overall, I can take on any role without reluctance; it simply fluctuates according to the
...reams and seek change. In order to be a leader one must be willing to do what they ask of others. Even while I would always be there to provide guidance and help lead the way, I would never ask members to do something I am unwilling to do myself. Whether its picking up trash from the highway, leading groups at a CDE contest, or standing in the freezing cold to ring the Salvation Army bell, I am always willing to serve along my fellow members.
Sophomore year I heard about the STAR events for FCCLA, ever since then I’ve wanted to compete in them, particularly fashion design. The reason I have never competed in FCCLA is because sophomore year I didn’t feel that my skills were well developed yet. Then junior year I competed in tech-theatre for costume design and made it all the way to state. So now senior year has come and I feel that I’ve been preparing myself for two years for this moment. If I’m given the chance to compete I will be fully dedicated to my work and see to it that everything surpasses my standards. I know that I’m capable of doing this because of not only my mind set to it but also my past of competing in tech-theatre. I would stay after school for hours, spent almost every day at home working on it, sometimes all through the night because I didn’t want my train of thought or work focus to be lost. I made due dates for myself so that I was pacing my time correctly and not rushing to do last minute. Something else I did was when it came to the essay part of the competition I had my English teacher proof read it. I also had last year’s fashion teacher give me pointers on my sketching and swatches. The reason for doing that was to help make sure that it was as close to perfection as possible. Lastly I would best represent Stevens fashion club at the FCCLA competitive events by being true to myself and my work. Over the years I have grown as a person because of fashion club and it has taught me that being myself is key in not only school but in life.
Fashion designers can often be acknowledged as artist; they create, inspire and motivate. A designer is often inspired by their culture and the trends surrounding their everyday lives. ...
Currently I do not hold a position of assigned leadership, but I have in the past. My leadership style is the consultative leader. My goal is to know how the members of my team perceive the necessary changes and how they would like to see the changes accomplished. Receiving input from the team gives them the confidence that their leader considers them an integral part of the team. Listening to the team members also gives them a sense of ownership if their opinions become a part of the solution. This can also have a down side, if you have a member of the team consistently give their input and the leader does not utilize their
My goal is to work in the fashion-merchandising field as a fashion director or so-called fashion coordinator, who has marketing expertise, works for a television production company, a fashion magazine, or runway shows (Fashion School, n.d). To become a professional fashion coordinator, one should go through a few programs such as two years of associate degree, four years of bachelor’s degree, and advanced post studies like master’s degree program. For a fashion coordinator, higher educational degrees are highly recommended for greater opportunities for high-paying, upper-level positions, and plenty of experience (Swain, n.d). Involving in the fashion industry, one will face a different range of problems that vary from workplace to society. Because fashion requires one will work with different personality types, it is essential to deal on ways of better managing their multi-tasks and
Since being young I’ve always been fascinated with fashion so I had the idea of having a fashion show and entered the contest. I remember being very certain and bold about my decision. I had items that I had sewn by hand and they weren’t the best designs, but they were mine. I was ecstatic about the upcoming talent show and I even had a chance to walk in the show. I remember as a kid always having an eye for fashion.
This is the interesting since I prefer to work alone yet also would enjoy working on teams. But then again, many of my scores were close to mid-range so I can see how this is possible and I agree that I do like working in a team because I can get more enthusiasm from others and I always like hearing others point of views. In addition, working with a team instead of teaching and directing others is more of a collaborative effort, therefore the focus would not be on just me. All of the personal preferences are important to me
Being part of this organization has giving me the confidence to work hard for what I believed and getting recognized for it. • Committees: I do not belong to any Committee
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
.... Fashion photographers have to come up with ideas for shoots, and choose the setting and theme. They have to think of creative new ways of capturing an image, so that people will remember their work. Creating a memorable and interesting photo is what all fashion photographers are striving for.
I knew at a young age what I wanted to be when I grew up- a traveling fashion designer. I know, how cliché for a small town girl like me to dream of but I was not going to let that hold me back. After all, my beloved grandmother, Vera accomplished her dream by being our town’s seamstress for over 30 years. This is where my childhood inspiration first sprouted, in the home of my maternal grandparents. I was the young age of 9 when my grandma, Vera began passing down her inventive skills to me.
I also had the opportunity to volunteer on my days off to help the fashion department with their quarterly fashion shows. Job responsibilities included working backstage with dressing models and returning merchandise to the appropriate exhibitor
Every group of characters has a role to play in making the show a success. The major groups of characters are the contenders who are the center of attention as everything within the show revolves around them. Every season has a new group of contenders that compete against each other to showcase their skills in fashion design. It compromises of male and female adults from different dimensions of lives who have a passion and talent in fashion and design (Avclub, Apr 26,13). The contestants begin with auditioning and qualifiers are entitled to battle for the ultimate prize through a sequential elimination method in various states.
Each member is comfortable in finding their place and can feel a sense of belonging within the team. As a team member, I portrayed the roles of a team player and a researcher. I may not be the brain of the group, but I was very eager to help and became a reliable member that follows-through on tasks to resolve conflicts. Also, I became a researcher too, at some point. I formulated various questions and gathered the information and data from the group. According to Sussex (2013), a researcher “is always asking a question and then finding their own answers.” She also stated in her blog that a team player is someone that the team could rely on because they are eager to help and resolve a conflict in a very calm way. I based my personality as a team member according to her seven types of a well-rounded team member in her blog. Each team member has different tasks to do. In our team, we focused on what the content should be and briefly discussed about the structure of the mind map. My biggest contribution would be completing my task, being creative and being able to contribute purposeful ideas to the team. Through teamwork, I learned to develop my strong points and found a way around to my
I believe I am the perfect fit for the Fashion Institute of Technology because I have an imperishable interest in the fashion industry. I see in potential everyone,as an artist would a canvas for his muse. Since I am a very desirous person I feel as though the Fashion Institute of Technology will expose me to endless opportunities that will allow me to further exude my eye for creativity. In both junior and secondary high school I always seemed to spot trends that often appeared eclectic and unusual to others, subsequently to find that they would be widely popular several months later. By majoring in Fashion Merchandising Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology I believe that I will be given the tools and knowledge needed to
