Strong Interest Inventory Reflection Rachel Stephenson The results I received from completing the strong interest inventory assessment are the themes investigative, conventional and enterprising. I agree with the assessment even though I guessed beforehand that I would have the themes conventional, investigative and artistic. The occupational themes I believe most accurately reflects my work personality is investigative. Investigative fits my work personality because I have always been curious and if I have questions I like to get my own answers by researching them. In addition, I found that I have a passion for mathematics, especially algebra. When I am solving a math problem I feel like it is a puzzle and I find it enjoyable when I …show more content…
While I am alright with making changing as things always do especially with technology and all the data we have available at our fingertips I prefer the changes to be gradual and not many all at once as it takes me time to adjust to new routines. Two of the top ten strong occupations that I would be interested in researching are the financial analyst and credit manager. I am interested in the financial analyst and credit manager both because they would suit my occupational themes and my passion for solving puzzles. They both would earn a decent amount of money with the financial analyst median earnings in Indiana is $67,000 and the credit manager is $54,000 I would prefer the earning more money of course but then most job I found preferred the candidate to have their CFA, MBA, or CPA …show more content…
For learning environment, it stated that I prefer to learn by doing which is absolutely correct, although my score is a 41, which is higher than I would have expected as I am not one who learns well by just reading books alone. My leadership states I probably prefer to lead by example with a score of 36 is correct with my social anxiety I have a difficult time ordering others around; I would rather do it myself. With risk taking, I received my lowest score of 34 being that I may dislike taking risks. This also has a lot to do with my anxiety since taking more risk will create more anxiety which I like to avoid. Then last I have team orientation, which stated I would enjoy both team roles and independent roles with a score of 48. This is the interesting since I prefer to work alone yet also would enjoy working on teams. But then again, many of my scores were close to mid-range so I can see how this is possible and I agree that I do like working in a team because I can get more enthusiasm from others and I always like hearing others point of views. In addition, working with a team instead of teaching and directing others is more of a collaborative effort, therefore the focus would not be on just me. All of the personal preferences are important to me
When given my strong interest inventory results, I wasn’t all that surprised to find that my general interest code is a CAI, it seemed to reflect my interests rather well. What did surprise me about my general interest code was that, according to our presenter, it was rare. According to the information we covered in class, the six personality themes can be placed around a hexagon, similar interest themes as neighboring one another, and “opposite” interest themes across from each other. The odd thing about the interest code CAI, is that its two leading interests are in some ways opposite from each other, making it inconsistent. Although this result may be irregular, upon further reading about the personality types it makes sense to me, and even is reflected in my interests, Artistic and Conventional.
It took me a little while to think on some of the questions because I had to think about what the true answer was and not just how I wanted to view myself. I’d say most of the results are accurate except for competition and significance. They do not describe my personality because I’m a pretty laid back person and I do not like to measure myself according to other achievements because it would drive me crazy to live my life that way. I’m the type of person that doesn’t care about what other people think about me unless it is my close family and friends. On the other hand discipline was very accurate. I’m the type of person that will get things done because I control that part of my life. I need to be in control of most things in my life or it is too unpredictable and that scares
Working in a team has obviously loads of advantages but it also has some disadvantages. The main one could be time consumption. If people can work better in a team, they can also be more easily distracted and can lead to a waste of time. We all have different personalities and we have more or less affinity with other people and strong personalities might lead to a conflict. Also, team work requires more organisation, structure and monitoring. Some individuals might feel unimportant in a team and in a different scenario some people might take advantage such as working less.
Another score that looks high is personal growth. You may see yourself as growing and expanding, you are open to new experiences, and see improvement in self and behaviors over time (Ryff, 1989). According to Abbott et. al. (2006), your environmental mastery has the exact same score as the mean in their study. Lastly, your self-acceptance score was much higher through comparison to the Abbott et. al. (2006) study. This means that you seem to possess a positive attitude towards your self and acknowledge and accept multiple aspects of yourself including the good and bad qualities (Ryff,
When reading through the strong interest inventory result I found it interesting, as well as, eye opening in some aspects. My theme code is that of SER, which stands for social, enterprising, and realistic. I feel as though all three of these themes describe me and how I see myself, because while looking at the values, interests, skills, and activities that are with associated with each theme I relate mainly with that of SER.
I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.
My highest scores on the Kuder career interests assessment shows that I have a high score tied between Enterprising and Conventional (“Kuder Assessments Summary,”2017). Enterprising demonstrates interest working with people and to lead them or sell them a product. Conventional demonstrates my interest in keeping things organized through keeping accurate records and files. For example, in an office things have to be separated and filed in the correct order. My skills confidence assessment has a tie between investigation and being artistic. As far as my work values assessment, in my life I want to maintain a high priority of innovation. Innovation is having the challenge to do work in different ways and with independence. An example would be
...ompanies to believe that the result they will get if they follow this path. These two professions require to use the critical thinking to think logically. They use their numbers by giving the facts and their hard working on the market research as the solid statements to prove their points. I may possibly suit for these. I love math. I like to play with numbers. I have a broad knowledge in operating the computer as well as the Microsoft Offices. It suits my goal. You can be self-employed. You can control your time. Although they can work under the highly pressure environment because of the deadlines required by the clients or the projects you are working on. If you know how to manage time, put time to work wisely, you already pass the obstacle in front of you. Having a balanced life between working and relaxing will help you making a big jump in your successful career.
In the vast and detailed world of psychology, there are a variety of different tests you can participate in. For example, you can participate in aptitude, verbal or numerical reasoning, and psychometric tests. These tests assess on a variety of different situations such as: behaviors, abilities and intelligence. Personality tests, a common and favored test, measure things such as: behavioral style, opinions, motivators, personal values and career interests. Most often, people complain or disagree with the score of some areas on their personality test; however, there are no right or wrong answers. After completing this personality test and reviewing the results, I found that the overall scoring accurately described me in most areas. The Big Five Personality test scores in five different areas involving openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism.
4) With Agreeableness I ranked at 83% with the description of good-natured, courteous and supportive. Being my agreeable self, I agree with this assessment. I have a natural affinity for empathy and sympathizing with others. 5) In Neuroticism I ranked at 37% - generally relaxed. This is also accurate. I would probably rank lower if it weren’t for being a worry wart, which is linked to my high conscientiousness. People often comment on how easy-going I am, but if they could see what goes on underneath th...
My second highest score came from Perfectionist behavior. I think this tie hand in hand with Affiliative, in the sense I am trying hard to be accepted by others. I find that I am never satisfied with a situation, and find solutions for creating a challenge. Like I stated, I don’t let myself become to comfortable, so by becoming distant, I create a challenge for myself. I am not satisfied with a relationship if I am too comfortable, I try to find ways to improve. I have high standards which result in disappointment from people and myself if they aren’t met. At work I find competition, when I am not at the best, I am trying to always improve. I find this exhausting, because it is never enough.
After completing the assessment exercise I have been able to carefully my personality. The exercise consisted of an evaluation of four areas: Locus of Control, Personality Type, Stress Reactions, and Learning Styles.
Becoming a financial analyst will allow me to enjoy a career in the finance field that pays well and also offers ample opportunities. The position of a financial analyst is growing very fast and so there are more opportunities for me to become a financial analyst. Being a financial analyst will not only put me in a powerful position within the organization but it will also teach me skills that I need about investing for my own financial life. Some of the qualifications for the career that I already have include a bachelor’s degree in finance, technology experience (Microsoft word, Microsoft outlook), skills such as maximization of work practices, and quality vigilance. One qualification that I need for this position is the ability to turn data into information. Since this position requires past experience and I have none, I can undergo training so that I can be at par with the job functions and requirements. Despite the fast growth of the job, though, there is stiff competition and even though I will most likely get this job with my bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree will help me stand out among my competitors and it will also be a wise investment for me since I have my eyes on a financial management position at one point in
My team player style is collaborator, which I saw come out of me when we worked in groups. This semester I had great group work experiences and some that were not as great.
However, I am still not 100% certain what I want to do for a career. In finance, there are so many options to consider. For example, I’ve looked into being a financial manager, an investment banker, or even a corporate lawyer. If I were to choose financial management as my career, the latest Internet trends impact that industry tremendously. When managing funds for a company, I would have access to all the information I need at my fingertips. However, I would need to pay careful attention to how e-commerce affects the company’s and the competition’s customers. Also, with all the information so accessible, people are finding ways to manage their money without the help of professionals. This could lead to a drop in demand for financial planners and managers. I, personally, don’t feel like this will be a huge issue since people will always need advice on saving for retirement or allocating their wealth. However, it is something to be aware of and might affect my career decision later on down the road. On the other end of the
