When reading through the strong interest inventory result I found it interesting, as well as, eye opening in some aspects. My theme code is that of SER, which stands for social, enterprising, and realistic. I feel as though all three of these themes describe me and how I see myself, because while looking at the values, interests, skills, and activities that are with associated with each theme I relate mainly with that of SER. I am heavily active in the social theme. I feel as though I am always with people whether that be in a teamwork role in my classes doing group projects or in a listening role while hearing stories from people in common ground training. Continuing, I feel like the realistic theme plays a large role in my everyday life
When given my strong interest inventory results, I wasn’t all that surprised to find that my general interest code is a CAI, it seemed to reflect my interests rather well. What did surprise me about my general interest code was that, according to our presenter, it was rare. According to the information we covered in class, the six personality themes can be placed around a hexagon, similar interest themes as neighboring one another, and “opposite” interest themes across from each other. The odd thing about the interest code CAI, is that its two leading interests are in some ways opposite from each other, making it inconsistent. Although this result may be irregular, upon further reading about the personality types it makes sense to me, and even is reflected in my interests, Artistic and Conventional.
The themes that are seen throughout the work are very effective in
What are some of the themes in the life of average people? Is it heritage, love for family, persevering through all life’s struggles, loyalty to oneself or other people. It could possibly be all of those; maybe even none of them. In S. E. Hinton’s The Outsiders many of the characters live hard lives that contain complex themes. Three of the most important themes in S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders are loyalty to oneself or other people, love for family and friends, and perseverance through all of life’s struggles.
Sociologist C. Wright Mills tells us that we must expose ourselves to sociological imagination, which is the ability to link someone’s personal struggles and success to the world around them and to observe what social factors might affect them. Sociological imagination is the ability to get rid of the familiar routines and look at something as
The Strong Interest Inventory Survey is used for people who are assessing a career. The survey can help you decide on a career that best fits you, especially if you are unsure of what job you would like to do. The test then asks for questions about yourself, and how you are as a person. Once it gathers the data about you, it processes the information to give you 6 results: Realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. Whatever one that you scored the highest is the one that best suits you, and what career you should look into.
... and jump out of their comfort zone. People should find their own direction and not listen when someone else tells them what to do and accomplish in life. This relates to society today as sometimes people do not experience enough things. They find one thing they like and stick with it even if they do not necessarily like it. Kids sometimes feel pressured to do a sport or instrument even if they do not like the activity. Adults should let kids find their purpose and hobbies in life with the adults only slightly helping lead the child in a certain direction. The theme is powerful due to the fact that everyone can learn a lesson from it and try new things. There is always a new thing to do, even if one thinks they have done it all. People should never stop trying new things and try as many things as possible, while not letting social norms define who they are.
the interaction the individual itself and how they interact within their surroundings. Through symbolic interactionalism you look at things and what they mean, and then determine the effects they have. There are many hand signs, both good and bad, that people exchange, as well as facial expressions in reaction to an event or statement that a symbolic interactionalist would look at. My observation period in the library allowed me to glimpse into the life of a sociologist. I realized that you could learn a lot about someone by just watching him or her. Their behavior is highly representative of the person they are; yet one cannot assume what specific reactions imply. Through the use of your sociological imagination you are able to gain a deeper understanding of behavior and how behavior is influenced by society.
Although there were many social psychology topics illustrated in the film, some of them stood out more to me. There was a lot of prejudice situations in this movie, such as when they first came home
For an abundance of authors, the driving force that aids them in creation of a novel is the theme or number of themes implemented throughout the novel. Often times the author doesn’t consciously identify the theme they’re trying to present. Usually a theme is a concept, principle or belief that is significant to an author. Not only does the theme create the backbone of the story, but it also guides the author by controlling the events that happen in a story, what emotions are dispersed, what are the actions of characters, and what emotions are presented within each environment to engage the readers in many
The first theme important to me is that it can be hard to take advice. The basic meaning of this theme is that, in order to be safe and successful in life, a person must learn to recognize and appreciate that advice and warnings can come from many sources, even unexpected ones. However, it is difficult for some people, especially those who are strong and confident, to realize this.
Symbolic interactionism offers a different perspective that is necessary to understand a society and the people that make it up. It gives the individual the same importance as the group. Overall, SI has three major characteristics: a persons actions depend on an objects meaning, meanings can vary between people, and meanings can change. In our society, education and knowledge are symbols for success. I will always remind myself to be open minded about what I am learning throughout my life, whether I am at Basic Training this summer, college next fall, or my career in the near
Have you ever took a step back and thought about the process of how you came to this point in your life, not only as yourself but as a human in your current society? George Herbert Mead, a sociologist who is known for his theory on self, has explained the process many decades ago. Mead spoke about one of the theories of socialization: The Social Self Theory. As boring as it sounds, Mead had some really great points and gave details and evidence to back his theory up. In the selection provided to me, Self and Society, written by Mead, the theory that I have noticed more than anything, is the Symbolic Interactionism.
The theme plays a significant role in the development of the plot as seen through
Social imagination is being able to compare and make connections between forces of the past and personal experiences. You can speculate how an event will turn out based on the track record of the same situation for others. The technique of social imagination can be used to view situations in the context of a wider society. Social imagination can be an excellent thinking technique to use to create a more aware population and to respect others lifestyle. One’s actions can be influenced by outside sources such as other individuals and environments. This style of thinking can be used in many different ways to view different aspects of life. An example of this would be drinking a cup of tea. You can then use social imagination to look outside
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. It’s critical for one to have a vision for their life and what they anticipate to accomplish. Without a vision or desire there is no hope for one to continue and to purse anything. My experiences with in my passions have helped me aligned my vision for my life. They have given me the valuable knowledge that have set me up for success to get to this point in life.
