Sophomore year I heard about the STAR events for FCCLA, ever since then I’ve wanted to compete in them, particularly fashion design. The reason I have never competed in FCCLA is because sophomore year I didn’t feel that my skills were well developed yet. Then junior year I competed in tech-theatre for costume design and made it all the way to state. So now senior year has come and I feel that I’ve been preparing myself for two years for this moment. If I’m given the chance to compete I will be fully dedicated to my work and see to it that everything surpasses my standards. I know that I’m capable of doing this because of not only my mind set to it but also my past of competing in tech-theatre. I would stay after school for hours, spent almost every day at home working on it, sometimes all through the night because I didn’t want my train of thought or work focus to be lost. I made due dates for myself so that I was pacing my time correctly and not rushing to do last minute. Something else I did was when it came to the essay part of the competition I had my English teacher proof read it. I also had last year’s fashion teacher give me pointers on my sketching and swatches. The reason for doing that was to help make sure that it was as close to perfection as possible. Lastly I would best represent Stevens fashion club at the FCCLA competitive events by being true to myself and my work. Over the years I have grown as a person because of fashion club and it has taught me that being myself is key in not only school but in life.
I hope that you consider me as an excellent candidate for competing in FCCLA STAR EVENTS, thank you.
An entrepreneur is someone who recognizes an opening in the market for a product or service and carries it out using initiative. Usually being innovators; entrepreneurs are risk takers in means of not knowing whether their ideas will in fact succeed (Business Dictionary, 2016). Fashion leaders are considered entrepreneurs because to be strong in the fashion industry one must attempt to stay ahead of competitors and know what is already out there as would an entrepreneur. One of Australia’s most successful fashion designers could also be considered an entrepreneur; Collette Dinnigan is an award winning fashion designer who has exhibited in London and Paris and was the first Australian to launch a ‘ready-to-wear’ collection, as well as being
Planned Parenthood Southeast (PPSE) is a member affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the oldest and largest voluntary family planning organization in the country. On April 1, 2010, Planned Parenthood of Georgia merged with Planned Parenthood Alabama to become Planned Parenthood Southeast serving Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. PPSE has extensive experience providing women’s health care, community health education, and public policy advocacy in the Southeast region for over 80 years. We work with national, state and local providers and community agencies to provide high quality health care to over 20,000 clients, and community education programs to over 8,000 participants annually. By combining the Georgia affiliate with the Alabama-Mississippi affiliate, we have created an organization that represents the interests and needs of the region while providing the core mission services in the local communities we serve. This is a trend across the country to strengthen Planned Parenthood organizations and allow us to continue to meet the mission, especially where the need is greatest in areas like the South.
Triple impact competitors are athletes who work hard to improve the teammate's performance, lead their team to success, and make the game better. I think I meet the minimum standards of joining the Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship since I have been performing well in my classes and more importantly leading my teammates in my discussion group in the right direction. In addition, I have been working so hard to grow as a person both physically and mentally since I joined my school team. However, I made sure that I balance between my academics and athletic life because I believe both are equally important to guarantee the successful experience. I meet the standard of making myself better since I am ready to participate in games any time, as
I volunteer at BLCI because I know the challenges and barriers that come along with being a Latina and first-generation college student. My hope is by volunteering, I can help minimize these challenges using my academic and personal experience. I have been involved with BLCI since the 6th grade. I volunteered at college panels, assisted with fundraising events; I tutored students, reviewed college applications and scholarships. During college, I was able to gain the necessary experience and resources to further serve the families at BLCI. I spearheaded and developed a yearlong community engagement project called EmPOWERing Youth. The partnership was between SDSU PowerSave Campus, a student-led energy efficiency program and BLCI, a 3rd -12th
Maybe it’s the fact that I tend to stay in my room all weekend, which leads to people thinking I’m studying when in reality I am probably binge watching a TV show or maybe it’s my glasses, but most people who don’t know me too well assume that I am smart. Now that is a great thing for me because I don’t have to try as hard to impress them, but I end up finding myself in a bit of a problem. The problem is that everyone thinks I enjoy admiring school textbooks. But the truth is I’m usually admiring my Justin Bieber poster on my bedroom wall. Ever since I was in sixth grade I’ve been a huge fan of Bieber. His music always brought a feeling of calmness and back in the day his “never say never” motto, was what I lived by. I might still be living by that motto because I’ve decided to write this essay
Malala Yousafzai once stated, “I raise up my voice–not so that I can shout, but so those without a voice can be heard.” This philosophy is one that I have always modelled my life after. However, it was not until my freshman year of high school that I truly began affiliating myself with the causes of human rights and social justice. It may sound a bit absurd, but the most prominent force that caused me to become more concerned with the pursuit of justice has been the internet. Due to its vast amounts of information, I am now an active feminist and an all around supporter of human rights. I constantly seek to further my awareness on such issues, taking care to learn and expand on my knowledge of the inequities of the world. Once I opened
As a student in the classroom, I have consistently challenged myself with honors and AP classes. Some of these include various honors and AP Sciences, History, and English. Throughout my four years, I have stayed active in school by being a part of the baseball and the robotics program. I have also dabbled in the environmental club as well as best buddies. I had the opportunity to manage the varsity baseball team my junior year. During the course of my junior year as well, I was blessed with the privilege of being a member of the Mountain Pointe Robotics team, Pridetronics, and their drive team. During the season, we won both our regional and state competitions and was able to travel to St.Louis, Missouri as a part of the FRC national
It was just over three months ago when World War Three ended. America is torn apart. Never to be the same again. The world has began to crumble beneath my feet. Every step I take, another inch falls. The earth is getting very cold. It is very gloomy now. I began to find shelter and sleep for the night, where I would be gone by daylight.
Fashion is an evolving subject. Fashion Photography, as Fashion itself has transformed too. The way Fashion Photography has changed a lot to what it was and what it is now. And yes it would have changed as a lot has transformed through the years of fashion. Fashion Photography’s meaning and representation has changed in a way that the image represents something that sometimes is not realistic, Photography as an illusion. Fashion Photography has changed in the way we look at it know, it has changed gender issues, sexuality, ethnicity and the way the body has been portrayed. So when looking at a fashion image you have a lot to think about if you want to fully understand the concept of it meaning. It’ not how it used to be, women/men in clothes, showing of the designers creations. But it has a hidden agenda, hidden word, a meaning that it is try to communicate to the viewers. The words in the image, the image are the words, words are hidden in the image or the image is the word are many ways of explaining how fashion image are seen and understood in today fashion photography.
I am a woman breed by fashion. Fashion has not only empowered me to be the strong woman I am today but it is the only matter that drives me to excel. Fashion does not just exist, it lives. How you dress can interpret how a person feels, how their day went, or what lifestyle they live. I've always wanted to help women enhance their natural beauty. I suffered from low self esteem myself, but embracing who I was and my style bought confidence and drive to my life. This has been my passion since I was five years old and even in the present day fashion is my biggest muse in life. Though I have had my obstacles staying true to my style, dedication to be successful, and my learning from my mistakes has gotten me to this opportunity today. I have great potential within me and The Fashion Institute of Technology is the perfect place for me to broaden my knowledge and apply my skills to grow within the fashion industry. I want to strive to be the best with the best.
I consider myself an analyst of fashion, by how I am always learning and interpreting how I see the industry in not only my studies but in my surroundings. From the beginning I have always promised to never stop learning, I view my education not only as training to master a skill but as a lifestyle. Answered simply, Philadelphia University will be my new outlet for learning the latest in the fashion industry. It will allow for me not only to study the past, present and future of fashion, but it will give me a chance to research and peruse my interests within the field. Foremost the Global Fashion Project I will take part in during my curriculum will not only impart career driven aspirations, but it will elicit my passion of gaining real world experiences outside of the classroom. Additionally I would like t...
Did you ever stand up for something you thought was right even though a lot of people got upset with you? If so, what happened? If not, do you ever think you would ever be strong enough to do so?
My work as an activist involves advocacy, research and implementation of community projects that are targeted towards the groups I advocate for, who are: Women, the youth, children and minority groups that are marginalized. Most of the work I do among these groups are informed by research and active involvement in groups that already exist in the community or ones that I have founded myself. The issues I am mostly involved in are for women, the improvement of their status relative to men; for children and the youth, it is education, community involvement, leadership, responsible citizenship and relations between men and women. To deliver to these groups, I do a lot of writing which is both fiction and non-fiction.
In life I want to become a fashion designer. My goals are to create clothing that is for all sizes, ages, and genders. In my clothing I want t show a creative side of my art ability and I want to make my clothing affordable for all as well. I think I influenced myself to wanting to become a fashion designer because I have a passion for art and wanting to become a fashion designer.
The philosophy with which I approach my education are that all institutions of learning are somewhat like a factory assembly line, where students are molded and are expected to meet certain specific standards by the time they graduate. Education is significantly important for a positive future. Education allows people to reach their fullest potential and help others later on reach their fullest potential. In this paper in I will try to provide information on how I came about choosing my career choice in the fashion industry, from academic excellence, life-long learning, collaboration, openness, integrity, and service.
