My greatest strength in writing is the rate in which I am able to produce written work and give my readers a glimpse of who I am. After various writing experiences, it has come to my attention that I can write very effectively and quickly as long as I have knowledge about the subject in question. I am very good with introductions and grabbing the readers or listeners attention. This is a very useful skill for the various speeches, essays and reflections I am expected to generate this semester. Another one of my strengths as a writer is my ability to comprehend the prompts I am assigned and answering it correctly. I think I am good at this because I actually take time to really think about what the prompt is asking of me. Some may say that I am just an over thinker, but that is the only way I can be certain to formulate an efficient essay/paper. I normally find it very arduous to continually read and re-edit the same writing numerous times. Although I may not have ADHD, my attention span cannot withstand the time it takes to focus on one document. In fact, it usually fails me and I end up making spelling and grammatical mistakes that I should not have. Given the fact that revising and editing is a large part of the writing process, I have taken it upon myself to actually get peer reviews and use various tools such as spell-check on Microsoft Word. Another one of my weaknesses as a writer is creating poorly formulated thesis statements. My thesis statements are usually too broad. This causes my papers to fail and the topic to not be adequately addressed. To prevent his re-occurrence, I have started to formulate a thesis question.
