My greatest strength in writing is the rate in which I am able to produce written work and give my readers a glimpse of who I am. After various writing experiences, it has come to my attention that I can write very effectively and quickly as long as I have knowledge about the subject in question. I am very good with introductions and grabbing the readers or listeners attention. This is a very useful skill for the various speeches, essays and reflections I am expected to generate this semester. Another one of my strengths as a writer is my ability to comprehend the prompts I am assigned and answering it correctly. I think I am good at this because I actually take time to really think about what the prompt is asking of me. Some may say that I am just an over thinker, but that is the only way I can be certain to formulate an efficient essay/paper. teachers saying the same thing. I can build upon these two strengths by writing more. Oftentimes, I only write when it is required for a grade. On a daily basis, my writing is limited to the few text messages I actually respond to. By writing more, I am widening my perspective and gaining more knowledge. Thus, making me an even better writer. That being said, I can also say that an aspect of my writing that needs improvement is my editing skills.
I normally find it very arduous to continually read and re-edit the same writing numerous times. Although I may not have ADHD, my attention span cannot withstand the time it takes to focus on one document. In fact, it usually fails me and I end up making spelling and grammatical mistakes that I should not have. Given the fact that revising and editing is a large part of the writing process, I have taken it upon myself to actually get peer reviews and use various tools such as spell-check on Microsoft Word. Another one of my weaknesses as a writer is creating poorly formulated thesis statements. My thesis statements are usually too broad. This causes my papers to fail and the topic to not be adequately addressed. To prevent his re-occurrence, I have started to formulate a thesis question. This enables me to write a better thesis statement that not only answers the thesis question, but it also states my position on the
topic. The personal goal that I want to obtain by this semester’s end is to enhance my writing and editing skills. To achieve this goal I will take every writing opportunity given to me and give it my best. I will complete adequate research about each writing topic, get peer reviews when needed and attend writing workshops when they are available. It is important for me to develop as a writer in and beyond academia because writing is a skill I will have to use in the real world. Poor writing skills can lead to missed opportunities. It is to my understanding that individuals who fail to communicate and write patently have a lower chance of being hired for a job. As an aspiring doctor, I am well aware of the research proposals, papers, lab reports and examinations that I will be required to write. Patients will be my top priority and it will be horrific, maybe even detrimental, if I was to document the wrong information or prescribe the wrong medication. So far, this class has been a pleasant experience for me. It has educated me on the significance of research, writing and editing. Although writing essays aren’t particularly easy for me, I have grasped that if I actually take the time to formulate my thoughts, things usually are not that bad.
I never really considered myself an "acceptable" writer. I always would panic after realizing I have to write a paper because I never feel prepared or ready. After my semester of English 1102, I realized that I can spot good points for my argument, but I had difficulty analyzing them in terms of my thesis. My thesis and topic sentences were not my strong suits because I either don't dig deep enough, or I panic and add so much to my thesis/topic sentence that the syntax and diction is awkward and confusing. I would spend hours trying to fix these errors because of writer's block and anxiety; however, as the semester kept going, I found it to be easier to fix the errors in my paragraph by asking myself how to improve my paper and asking my peers
The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills.
Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
Writing has never been a strength I have possessed. English 102 has been difficult and challenging for me because I have had to move past the high school level of a basic book report or a five paragraph paper that has narrowed my ideas of writing for many years. Putting on paper what my thoughts are in a way that is logical and accurate for what the assignment is asking has been hard for me this semester. My ideas are now more involved because I have learned through English 102 how to develop my writing skills in different formats, for example, in an annotated bibliography and a research paper. English 102 has taught me many things about writing like locating sources from the library and on line as well as continuing
Another one of my strengths as a writer and a student is my determination to complete every assignment to the best of my ability. I have never been the type of student that does not get her work done, whether it be an essay for English or a workbook page for Geometry. I work diligently in all my classes and aim to learn as much as I can from every assignment. Since English is not my best subject, I work twice as hard to improve every day and bring out the best writer in me. My determination is what drove me to enhance my weaknesses and polish my strengths.

One strength I saw myself, as having when I enter college is being able to understand and critical think about a essay/article that I have read. However, after taking English 101, I have now learned that this is a strength of mine as well as a weakness.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
Strengths can be defined in multiple ways. One definition of strength is, “the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; vigor” (dictionary.com). Strength can also be defined as the mental power, force, moral power or courage of an individual. Both of these definition describe strengths as being something positive, almost like a driving force. In the healthcare field it is important to know your personal strengths just as it is to know your weaknesses. As healthcare providers we have to know what we are good at so that way when caring for patients we can do it with a sense of confidence. Knowing your own strengths is also important in the leadership world of healthcare. Every good leader knows what their advantage is when taking charge of their unit or facility. This semester I learned many new things in my English 1301 class. I took this class last year but I had to drop it because I didn’t have a professor explaining the work to me. And I really didn’t understand what I was doing. At first, I was scared to take this class. During my high school years I wasn’t that good of a writer. I thought this composition class was going to be hard since I sometimes thought it was hard in high school. My writing experience was good and sometimes bad. This semester in the composition class I had many writing strengths and weaknesses. These strengths and weaknesses is what helped me learn the errors I was making while writing essays this semester.
My strengths as a writer are that my papers are very well developed, they have always been graded and ranged from a high B to an A. I always meet the requirement, but I don't add as much detail as I should. I have a good style and organization. I always make sure to keep my papers in order. All of my papers have spelling errors but is not bad enough for the reader to get confused while reading. Readers can easily follow my papers with no struggles. I use a variety of simple and complex sentences to structure my papers. I do get quite a few comma splices, but never to many run-on sentences or fragments in my paper. My papers do have a good word choice that include imagery and figurative language. I don't use super strong verbs in my papers and I also have grammatical errors in my papers as well.
As a student, I feel that I have many writing weaknesses. I know that on my own, and because teachers have told me so. Some of the complications I face with writing is not using enough body paragraphs, forgetting a thesis statement, lack of word choice, punctuation errors, and etc. I am unaware at times of my mistakes, but I always try to correct them.
I am not, by any means, a Shakespeare, Stephen King, or John Grisham. It would take enormous amounts of time, practice, and effort to be considered a long shot at a Pulitzer Prize. Yet, I intend to progress my writing by setting more achievable goals, building on new ideas, and developing new skills. Also, I will use the advice of instructors and peers, and draw from previous writing experiences to mold this and future writing experiences.
One skill that I wish I had time to improve on is citing sources in MLA style. Through the course, I refused to seek help from my professor until week seven, one thing I regret doing. that could have allayed the fear and doubt I had about this course. Any questions I had could be cleared up as the course progressed. My essays through the subsequent weeks have demonstrated my strength and weaknesses. I do not have many strengths when it comes writing, but still I consider my greatest strength in writing to be being able to clearly understand the prompt and answer it correctly, especially with the analysis essays. I think this is just because I spend most of the scarce time on hand just to think about the prompt, for example, when I was preparing for my rhetorical analysis essay on globalization I thoroughly read both article on globalization by both Kwame Anthony Appiah and franklin Foer .An obvious struggle I have as a writer is organization and transitions. I tend to jump from one topic to another and sometimes cover. I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs to make my reader understand the logic of my paper. I have not had enough writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. I do sometimes admit that it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I become a proficient
I don’t consider myself a very good writer. I write when I am made to or when I have something that I need to say that I can’t just tell someone. I keep a diary. Usually my diary is just a record of what I have done that day. It’s not so much about my feelings. I don’t really like talking about my feelings, usually because most of the time I am confused about what exactly I am feeling. I tend to keep the feelings that I do have to myself, to protect myself from getting hurt.
