Strengths and Weaknesses Throughout the Mid-SEE I have written reflections on my writing and participated in group activities. I have received comments back from my peers and suggestions to help with revising my paper. With the help of my professor, Professor Church and my classmates, I was able to comprehend their suggestions to me to make my essay better and by revising my classmate’s essays, I was able to point out mistakes that I might have made in my essay, which made myself go back to my essay and check and see if I had mistakes that just flew by my eyes. I have come about what my strengths and weaknesses are in my writings. What I tend to do wrong in my papers is trying to get the topic to stay on the topic throughout the paper. I tend to jump around topic to topic and my sentences just start to run on and repeat the same things. My strengths in writing is making sure that I make sure that I always back up my points and make sure that my paper fits the topic. “Good start— the cookie description has nice sensory details to draw your reader in.” (Prof. Church) When re-reading my papers, I don’t seem to find mistakes that my revisers find. I believe that I just am use to the way I write and the in corrections don’t jump out for me. “Listen to this sentence aloud, and then re-word it more clearly.” (Prof. Church) As a student, I feel that I have many writing weaknesses. I know that on my own, and because teachers have told me so. Some of the complications I face with writing is not using enough body paragraphs, forgetting a thesis statement, lack of word choice, punctuation errors, and etc. I am unaware at times of my mistakes, but I always try to correct them. I have also come about my strengths and weaknesses... ... middle of paper ... ...up. I was able to extend more on researching and writing to join a scholarly conversation about any topic and not just simply reporting any first facts. Due to the writing rubric, I believe that I stand in the range of a B. I put all effort into each paper that I write, and I make sure that they are handed in or posted on the due date. I never slack during work and I always work 110% whether if my paper turns out excellent or horrible, I always tell myself that I tried my best. Writing about my personal strengths is a challenging task that requires me to focus on the strong points that make up my character. However, to attack my weaknesses, is to challenge myself to take control over the areas that need some redefining of certain skills to make greatest success in life. My life is not defined by weaknesses, but more so the makeup of my personal strengths.
I never really considered myself an "acceptable" writer. I always would panic after realizing I have to write a paper because I never feel prepared or ready. After my semester of English 1102, I realized that I can spot good points for my argument, but I had difficulty analyzing them in terms of my thesis. My thesis and topic sentences were not my strong suits because I either don't dig deep enough, or I panic and add so much to my thesis/topic sentence that the syntax and diction is awkward and confusing. I would spend hours trying to fix these errors because of writer's block and anxiety; however, as the semester kept going, I found it to be easier to fix the errors in my paragraph by asking myself how to improve my paper and asking my peers
Michael is a happy student who is working to improve his communication skills with his classmates. He is slowly making progress in his educational goals. Although Michael does show some frustration issues, he has shown great improvements and responds very well to praise, one on one attention, and immediate consequences. While Michael does need to be encouraged to participate in activities and independent work he is improving on these skills. However, he just needs an extra boost compared to most students.
Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
Understanding one’s strengths and weaknesses is essential to becoming and being a good leader. “Purposeful leaders understand who they are” (Mayfield, 2013). The author of this paper has had previous opportunities to lead, and will reflect on her experiences using the assigned inventory. She will evaluate her skill set and discuss ways she can be an advocate for change with the hospital and community in which she is employed. Lastly, she will identify one personal goal for her leadership growth and explore different avenues for obtaining that goal.
My five greatest strengths according to the StrengthsFinder survey are activator, restorative, achiever, command and relator, in rank order. Upon reading about these strengths, I can see how I have used and will continue to use them. I was aware of these strengths, for the most part, but while researching I was able to learn a few things. One article that stood out to me was “Don't let your strengths become your weaknesses” (Kaiser, & Kaplan, 2013). In this article, the possibility of strengths becoming weaknesses when overused was discussed. The authors explained how overdoing can be just as purposeless as under doing. The ability to read and respond adeptly is crucial in handling challenges, they explained. As with everything else in life, balance is key!
In this essay I think I had more strengths than weaknesses. This was one of my favorite essays I have ever written. The reason being was because I knew so much about the topic that I really enjoyed writing this essay. One strength I had was the content of the essay. All of my ideas were supported with evidence. Another strength was that my paper had organization. I started off talking about Marie Deans’ younger years then ended with her older. There was one weakness I noticed I ad in this essay and it was my writing style. My writing style was a little better in this paper but it was not the
For personal and professional growth, given my personality traits, I need to embrace my strengths and weaknesses. I must use my strengths to my advantage, to be more effective academically and in the workplace, but I also need to identify and try to overcome my weaknesses, especially professionally.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
Personal strengths and weaknesses determine how an individual will perform in their careers and lives. Clifton and Nelson (2010), defines strengths as “things that one does well” (p. 42). Strengths are traits of a person’s performance or views that result in personal gratification and reward. Effective leaders should strive to develop their personal strengths. Strengths can be drawn from things that an individual currently excels at or those from the past. Weaknesses on the other hand, are things that result in lessened productivity. Good leaders are able to identify both strengths and weaknesses and utilize them to become more effective at their profession (Clifton & Nelson, 2010). According Hodges and Clifton (2004) “it’s best to focus on strengths rather than on weaknesses and changing the therapeutic paradigm to focus on helping others to excel in a few areas rather than becoming average in many” (p. 258). Understanding ones strengths and weaknesses can be stressful. However, strength comes from honesty, meaning it is important to identify your weakness. Again, it is important to know where your strength lies and how capable and competent you are.
When I think of strengths or weaknesses, I often try to think of weaknesses first. I am not a negative person nor am I always thinking of the worst possible scenario, but rather focus on faults first. Due to that thinking style or habit, let me start this paper with what I perceive to be my weaknesses. This essay may not include all of my strengths or weaknesses, but I feel it is a major portion of them.
To begin, I am going to write about my weaknesses and how they transitioned into strengths. First, I remember after each assignment in class was introduced I
This semester I was able to flourish as a writer due to essays given in class. I am now better able to analyze prompts and communicate my ideas better on paper. Although my writing has drastically improved, it has not always been that way. As evident through past essays, my writing was poorly structured and contained spelling errors. Also, through practice this semester, I was better able to write a concrete thesis statement, something I was puzzled with in my previous English courses.
In addition, by working through some of these weaknesses, they will make me a stronger writer (Bethel University,2014). Other areas I would like to capitalize some of my strengths on are determination and responsibility. Managing my family, my career, and my education can be challenging at times, however this type of dedication will put me in front of my peers professionally and personally (Bethel University,2014). In conclusion, I am going to incorporate my strengths into my work and develop some of my weaker skills in order to achieve my goals (Bethel
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
Writing has never been my strong suit, although I am always writing. My biggest weakness is my ability to interpret text and analyze. During the analytical process, it is hard for me to really read between the lines if I cannot connect to the piece personally.
